  • The 7th Season Starts Where The 6th Season Ended. Lindsay Kills Shane Casey And The Crime Lab Becomes A Crime Scene With A New Member Of The Team.

    This season had a really great start. Let's start with the only negative thing and that is how the writers handled Stella's exit. Do we really get just a note after the exit of a beloved character? Come on writers! But I think that Sela Ward will do a great job. Her first performance here was excellent. The case in the crime lab was pretty good and better than I expected it to be. The arrest scene was epic. Sela Ward sure had a memorable entrance to this series. I like her character, she seems to have sense of humour. The best thing about this episode is the excellent performance by Anna Belknap. Her character's actions were terrific! Great start.moreless
  • Good, but it seemed to be lacking something...

    The opening scene was great, exactly the emotion and intensity i was looking for. After that i have mixed feelings... it seemed to be missing something i think in part due to the absence of Stella (who probably had to be my favourite character) and the fact that this episode was far more character focused than many other episodes. The whole murder in the lab thing came off as being a very distant second to the introduction of Jo. Once we got past finishing last seasons cliff-hanger we seemed to get the killer too quickly... an aweful lot of mucking round... not enough suspects or false leads in this case for my liking...



    Lindsay's struggles were a nice touch to the episode though although they didn't seem to have as much substance as they could have done... her emotional stress seemed like it was gonna be a big deal but then went nowhere.



    Hawkes didn't seem to have much screen time and so far i'm not a fan of Flack's new hairstyle. Nice to see the good old Danny & Flack chase the suspect scene though :P Looking foward to seeing if the second episode will be better since there hopefully be less messing around with character introductions and finishing off last seasons business and we can get on with something of a bit more substance. I'm definately gonna give this season more of a chance but the investigation of the crime is what the show is about after all.moreless
  • Great premiere!

    * I really liked that the opening was a continuation of the finale and that we actually got to see everything that happened that night.

    * I like Jo's introduction... getting to the lab and finding a dead woman! And the BYOB (Bring Your Own Body) joke was great. * Jo's scene was Adam was really funny... He's just to easy...:lol:

    * Flack's hair is a big NO! Just combed in a different way and with less grease or whatever would be much much better...:roll:

    * I loved that Lindsay got the present from Stella and the note, but I'm kinda disappointed that this is the only mention we get of her...

    * Mac/Lindsay and DL scenes at the rooftop were amazing. Mac is still acting as a father figure with Lindsay and I love it, and DL seems to be closer after this experience...awesome!!:D

    * The case was quite good too, A young woman that liked to have relationships with married men gets killed by one of her lovers after him finding out that she's pregnant, all that mixed with a burglar that actually tried to save her life and got stabbed in the process. Sid discovery of what the weapon was was great, and the little scene with Hawkes, Adam and Jo examining the shirts was really cool too.



    All in all a great premiere. I liked Jo, although maybe she's a little bit too flirty and too forward for my taste but she will bring in a different side of our characters. Flack's hair has to change!

    Just a little :roll: moment, although I totally loved Danny and Flack's pursuit scene making Danny jump after he was in a wheel chair less than a year ago?:roll:moreless
  • The seventh season begins with the saga of Shane Casey (finally) coming to a close. Stella has decided to leave the Big Apple for New Orleans. Stella's replacement, former FBI agent Jo Danville, jumps right into her new job.moreless

    This episode certainly started out on the right note. Shane Casey is gone for good. He should have died in the season six finale. That aside, I found this episode entertaining, though it was not fantastic. I think Sela Ward is a good replacement for Melina Kanakeredes. It will take me some time to develop an opinion of her (I need to see her in a few more episodes.) but things look good so far. The story concerning the investigation of the murder of the young woman was good, but I think it could have been better. A good start.moreless
  • Wow what a way to start the season.

    So we catch up where we left off, with Danny and Lindsay facing off against Shane, who has their daughter, Lucy, at gunpoint. Flash-forward five months later and Stella's gone with newcomer Jo stepping in and Lindsay struggling to deal with the emotional consequences that come with shooting and killing someone. We also find out where Stella is; she's the new boss in New Orleans. Smooth and neat exit, leaving room for Jo and a plausible explanation.

    One word sums up Jo; feisty. She rags Adam, gets Mac grinning, and is clearly not afraid to jump in with both feet. Yeah, I think she'll do just fine on the 35th Floor.

    • Goof: It is highly unlikely for The SWAT to arrest someone who had used scissors as a weapon.

    • Goof: Each floor in the building where the NYPD Crime Lab is located has a different access code. Since the burglar messed with the system the codes weren't needed briefly. However, the victim didn't know that so it doesn't make sense for her to punch the 35th floor button since under normal circumstances she wouldn't be able to have accessed.

      Also, the 35th floor has several levels since there is a bridge and a set of stairs going down near the elevator, which is a bit off.

    • Stella sends a letter and a present to Lindsay to congralute her on her Combat Cross Award. The present is a framed quote by Franklin P. Jones that says: Bravery is being the only one who knows you are afraid.

    • Adam's parents are called Charles and Harriet.

    • After the severe back injury that Danny suffered during season 6 and which kept him in a wheelchair and rehab for a while, it is unlikely that Flack would let Danny do such a high jump.

    • Stella's absence is explained in the letter she sends to Lindsay. She has taken over the crime lab at New Orleans.

    • Stella addresses her parcel to Lindsay to the following address:

    • Hawkes, Adam and Jo take a while testing with dummies before reaching to the conclusion that the blood splatter on the inside of Westwick's cuffs belongs to Sarah and not to the burglar. However, running a DNA test on the blood would have lead to that same conclusion in a more incontestable way.

    • Jo: My first thought was… (Laughs) ...it's a practical joke. You know? Welcome to the New York Crime Lab.
      Mac: We usually sabotage a pair of latex gloves or have a tech pose as a dead body in autopsy, then suddenly pop to life, but murder? Not our style.
      Jo: Good to know.

    • Jo: Excessive makeup, which tells me she's single, but dating. The soles of her shoes are significantly worn, so I imagine she walks either from her home or to the subway on her way to work. (Sniffs) Ah, the fragrance was a gift from a man. The scent is sweet, not floral.
      Mac: Do you happen to know her mother's maiden name?
      Jo: Just trying to make a good first impression with the boss.

    • Danny: So why go through the trouble of breaching a high-security building?
      Hawkes: You could just lie in wait and attack someone in the street.
      Mac: I don't know. But we're gonna check every floor and corner of this high-rise until we find out.

    • Therapist: Lindsay, I going to recommend further counselling.
      Lindsay: What don't you get? I have no remorse, I have no regrets, I have no nightmares. You can check them all off your stupid little list. Your work is done.
      Therapist: So, how is it that after five months, I hardly know anything about you?
      Lindsay: I'm here because it's a department mandate because I killed a guy. That's all you need to know. Everything else about me is none of your business (She throws the Combat Cross to a bin on her way out)

    • Jo: These elimination prints are completely unnecessary. I was an FBI Agent. I'm in the federal system.
      Adam: Look, I don't want to knock your former employer, but they're not exactly built for speed, and Mac is not a patient man.

    • Jo: I've seen your FBI file.
      Adam: I have a file?
      Jo: A thick one. And I've seen some of those web sites you visit.
      Adam: Well, I... You know, I... I'm not the only one that uses that computer. I mean, I've got friends that come over, and we do research. What web sites are we talking about?
      Jo: I didn't think you'd be that easy. I am just kidding (Laughs)
      Adam:

    • Jo: Jimmy Choo. Not bad on a junior associate's salary.
      Hawkes: Kate Spade purse, designer blouse, Dolce & Gabbana pants. There's a month's pay sitting on this table.

    • Jo: She was expecting a visitor that she really wanted to look good for. An older, more established guy.
      Hawkes: Or a young hotshot with lots of cash.
      Jo: Well, maybe, but... a discreet, late-night rendezvous with a man in the office who lavishes her with gifts... I'll put my money on an older, more established, wealthy, married man. That's our suspect.
      Hawkes: Sounds like you're speaking from experience.
      Jo: How I wish.
      (Hawkes laughs)

    • Adam: (Running a cell phone on a computer) Not only will it figure out the pass code to Sarah's phone, but once I'm in, it'll give me all her deleted e-mails, texts and internal application data.
      Danny: Oh, so, uh, deleted is never really deleted, huh?
      Adam: I keep telling you guys that, but nobody believes me.

    • Adam: Hey, so, uh, what do you think of Jo?
      Danny: I think, uh, Jo's pretty damn smart. She's cool. I like her a lot.
      Adam: Oh, she gives me the creeps. I think she's got secret files on all of us.
      Danny: (Laughs) Files?
      Adam: Yeah.
      Danny: What kind of files?
      Adam: Secret.

    • Adam: We're in. Now here comes the hard part... sorting through all this crap as fast as we can.
      Danny: Hmm. Good luck with that, you geek.
      Adam: Whoa, hey. Where you going, man? Pull up a chair. Grab a keyboard, help a brother out. Come on, huh? Huh?

    • Lindsay: (Voice over as she reads Stella's letter) Linds, just wanted to congratulate you on your commendation today. You're so brave in so many ways. It's just a little gift that represents my admiration for you. Things here in New Orleans are great, although it's not easy being the boss. I'm going a million miles an hour. Can't catch my breath. Say hey to everyone. I miss you all. Love, Stella.

    • Mac: No matter how mentally tough you think you are, or how justified you were, killing another human being is going to affect you. There's no shame in it.
      Lindsay: Till today, I didn't feel anything.
      Mac: What changed?
      Lindsay: You putting that medal around my neck. For the first time since the shooting, it took me right back to that moment.

    • Lindsay: You know, Shane Casey came into my house. He threatened my family. I killed him. I'd do the same thing a hundred times over. I never felt scared before that. I... I never cried. I never thought about how much danger we were in. I just did what I had to do.
      Mac: Well, nothing prepares you for that kind of terror. And there's no book on how we deal with it afterwards.
      Lindsay: We never went back to that apartment. I never took a day off work. I just swept it all to the side like it never even happened. What if I can't deal with it, Mac?
      Mac: You already are. It's happening. This is the beginning of coming to terms with it.
      Lindsay: Is that what I'm doing?
      Mac: You'll get through this, Lindsay.
      Lindsay: How can you be so sure?
      Mac: You're a warrior. If there's one thing I've learned over the years... the spirit of the warrior can't be broken.

    • Danny: Thought I'd find you up here. Is this your new spot?
      Lindsay: Did I have an old one?
      Danny: Yes, you did (Embraces her) Right here.

    • Danny: I talked to the department therapist.
      Lindsay: Danny, I am not going back there. I'm done.
      Danny: I know that. I'm not asking you to. But, uh, baby, you deserve this, okay? You deserve it. (Gives her the Combat Cross) Okay, not for... not for the life you took, but for the life you saved. You saved our daughter. You're my hero.

    • Adam: Hey, Josephine.
      Jo: Jo.
      Adam: Ah, really? That's not what it says in your file.

    • Rudy Aronika: I loved Sarah. I didn't have any reason to kill her.
      Jo: But, Rudy, isn't that the perfect reason? It's really the people that we truly love that can hurt us enough to bring out that kind of rage.

    • Rudy Aronika: It was pretty much over. And a couple of nights ago, she asked me to come over. I was just hoping, maybe she'd had a change of heart.
      Jo: But instead she told you she was pregnant, isn't that right?
      Rudy Aronika: I was devastated.
      Jo: Devastated or angry, Rudy? Angry that she was rejecting you? Angry at what could have been?
      Rudy Aronika: No, I was devastated. I had a vasectomy two years ago, Detective. Sarah was carrying somebody else's baby.

    • Flack: This has gotta cost a pretty Penny.
      Theodore Westwick: And then some.
      Mac: You have two offices in the city?
      Theodore Westwick: Three. This one is just for me.
      Flack: So basically, you're filthy rich?

    • Mac: Mr. Westwick, do you have any idea why you were attacked last night?
      Theodore Westwick: It could have been any number of things.
      Flack: Money, jealousy and revenge are the big three.
      Theodore Westwick: I think it was a good old-fashioned New York mugging, Detective.

    • Jo: (Over the phone) Hey, what's up? No. No. Because I said so. No, no, absolutely not. Because I... said so. Love you, too.
      Mac: Was that your son?
      Jo: No, my mama.

    • Flack: (To a suspect) Look, aside from your recent venture into murder, we've been looking for you for a really long time. So let me give you a friendly piece of advice, and this is not something I usually do, right?
      Danny: Never.
      Flack: You can continue with your story. But it's only gonna come back to bite you in the ass when you need to make a deal.

    • Jo: The plan to burglarize the office... premeditated. That's why the security system was down. Scissors as a murder weapon, grabbed in a moment of rage. This murder was a crime of passion. Two separate crimes.
      Mac: So Alex was attempting burglary at the same time Westwick was killing Sarah.
      Jo: Do you believe him?
      Mac: I will when we find the proof.

    • Jo: Look, I know, as forensic investigators, we're not supposed to consider innocence or guilt, that we draw upon scientific unbiased conclusion. In this case, I'm going to assume that Alex Brodevesky is innocent, and see if the science proves my theory.
      Adam: You can't do that.
      Jo: Why?
      Adam: Uh, well, be... bec... because.
      Jo: That's it? Because? (Laughs) I'm not breaking any rules. I'm trying to create new ones.

    • Jo: Are all of your cases like this?
      Mac: Pretty much. Thinking of quitting already?
      Jo: Hell, no. I do have to admit it was one heck of a first day. We do things a little slower down in Virginia.
      Mac: Well, welcome to the New York crime lab, Jo Danville.
      Jo: It's still a beautiful city.
      Mac: Yes, she is.

    • Jo: You know what's so odd... is I had to go through a pat-down and practically give up my firstborn to get through security and up to this lab.
      Mac: We're going to snip a lock of your hair before we give you a desk.
      Jo: My point being that if she doesn't work in the crime lab, how did she get onto this floor?
      Mac: Trust me... that's a question I definitely want answered.

    • (Jo has find the dead body of a young woman upon arrival to the lab)
      Danny: Look, I hope this doesn't become a regular thing, all right?
      Jo: What do you mean?
      Danny: Well, we like to have a cup of coffee, read the newspaper before we jump right into work.
      Jo: Oh, I guess I was under the impression the NYPD Crime Lab was BYOB.
      (Danny and Hawkes look at each other confused)
      Bring your own body.
      Danny: (Laughs) Nice.
      Hawkes: You know, if you two are finished with the comedy portion of the program, we got some work to do.
      Danny: (Pointing to himself) Sense of humour: Messer (Pointing to Hawkes) Sheldon Hawkes: no fun.
      Hawkes: Don't listen to him.

    • Gary Sinise and Sela Ward first met during the 1990s when they were both on the award show circuit (he was nominated for the HBO film Truman and she was in the TV Movie category for the Lifetime film Almost Golden: The Jessica Savitch Story) and hence they kept bumping into each other at the different events. They both won the awards they were nominated for and had their picture taken backstage. That was the last time they had seen each other until she became part of CSI: NY.

    • Lawrence Monoson, who plays Rudy Aronika, also appears in the C.S.I. episode Abra Cadáver and the CSI: Miami one Legal.

      Glenn Taranto, who plays James Sheehan, also appears in the was in the C.S.I. episode Burn Out.

      Brett Tucker, who plays Theodore Westwick, also appears in the C.S.I. episode Cold Blooded.

    • Sela Ward (Jo Danville) has been added to the opening credits. The intro for Hill Harper (Sheldon Hawkes) has been slightly modified as well.

    • Flack: Midnight security guard's not exactly Sherlock Holmes.

      Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective created by Scottish author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Holmes is a brilliant detective who combines logical reasoning, forensic science skills and a remarkable ability to take almost any disguise to solve difficult cases.
