Season 1 Episode 22

The Closer

Aired Friday 9:00 PM May 11, 2005 on CBS

  • Trivia

    • Goof: On more than one occasion throughout the show, Gilbert Novotny is incorrectly referred to as George Novotny. Two specific examples include the conversation between Bonasera, Hawkes and Parsons in the morgue, and also the scene where Messer and Taylor are preparing to test their theory on a crime scene.

    • Danny Messer's story of playing in the minors and then leaving due to an injury parallels actor Carmine Giovinazzo's own life. However, in real life, Carmine Giovinazzo was forced to leave the game due to a back injury, not an injured wrist.

    • The baseball stadium shown in this episode is not Yankee Stadium. It is actually San Fransico's 3Com Park (formerly Candlestick Park), the football stadium where the 49ers play. Interestingly, the last time baseball was played there was 1999.

  • Quotes

    • Stella: Why haven't you taken your wedding ring off?
Mac: Because, uh, I don't know. I don't want to.

    • Mac: When the towers fell, and Claire died, it was the clearest definition of what is unjust, and unfair, in this world, and I was powerless.

    • (Examining the female who was hit by a car)
Mac: No clothes, no shoes, no handbag, just lace.
Stella: If this is the new look for spring, you can count me out.

    • (Danny just had a chase scene with Tony Reanetti. Tony climbed a fence and Danny lept up and caught him.)
Danny: Alright, easy, easy! If there's one thing I hate more than running… leaping. You're not my favorite person today, come on.

    • Aiden: How does a potential short stop become a crime scene investigator?
Danny: That's real easy, get into a fight, break your wrist, and then graduate from the police academy top of my class.
      Aiden: Dangerous, Danny Messer.
      Danny: Very dangerous.

    • Stella: (Stella is speaking in Greek) Pou eisai esi vre file? Skeftesei kati kai ksero pou thelis na me to pis.
      Mac: And in English?
Stella: What the hell's buggin' ya, Mac?
Mac: Fwoo… Sounds so much better in Greek.
Stella: Yeah, most things do. (she smiles)

    • Stella: A Boston fan in the Bronx, very brave.
Danny: He's stupid, very stupid. Boston's tough, New York better get it together.

    • (Stella gets a buzz while she's with Hawkes in the examination room.)
Stella: Oh dispatch! Oh I get a feeling it's going to be a very busy day.
      Hawkes: Mmmhmmm.
      Stella: Wanna switch jobs?
Hawkes: Oh! Yeah, sure. (he picks up a handsaw) You'll be cutting off that guy's right arm. And left leg. (he smiles at her)
Stella: Hmm (she smiles and pats his cheek) I'm leaving now.
