this episode is one of my favorites. i love it, its exciting and keeps you guessin.

the cases were good..exciting...and potently could really happen.

love when danny gets trapped in the panic room with a dead decomposing body and has to make due with what he has. that has to be one of the best scenes. after awhile of being in there they discover danny's O2 is runnin out...uh oh.

stella has to figure out the crime before danny gets asphyxiated. this episode was great..its xciting and its why i watch this show...hopefully season four will be better than season 2....no more of that danny lindsey crap....blahhh!!!
  • Danny in a tank top. need i say more? Okay so this episode was more than just a cute guy. it was also about a creepy guy. And a stripper. Good episode - acually no. GREAT episode. Spoilers may be inside.

    The beginning:

A stripped lube wrestling. Next thing we know? She's dead on a giant light. FRIED. I need 13 spices.

    The cases:

What first surprised me about this case, I have to say, was the strip club. I mean I thought that’s what it was at first then I saw the wrestling. Then there was the bit with Lindsay and the goop. I mean can Mac get any funnier? They really need to stop giving her all the newbie work. Then we get to the actual case. This case felt a bit downplayed from the others, which is surprising as it was Mac's case. But it's bound to happen. He can't ALWAYS be center of attention. It was a bit crazy that the murderer accidentally killed her ex lover. I mean a bit crazy.

The eccentric billionaire. This one shows the NY elite, albeit an eccentric elite being the victim. The poor man who has had a horrible life. This was a great story of what tragedy can do to a person. Creepy part was the no windows room, but I guess he was afraid of someone stealing in when he slept. Him sleeping under the bed when he was a child? Poor kid. And holding on the soldier to protect him? So sweet. All I could think was "Aw, bless." Then there was the entire time Danny was stuck in the panic room. The second it happened I knew it would not be good. I thought to myself just what Danny said, "That’s not good at all." And poor Danny had to be stuck in there with the dead guy, all alone. Personally, I couldn't believe the guy slept in the panic room. That's a bit creepy. But he did have a lot of problems. It's a bit suspicious that the maid continued cleaning and didn't bother running to get to 911. And the blood pool was undisturbed; the housekeeper didn’t check for anything. The second they said they were cutting off power I was like, "he won't be able to breathe! Oh no!" And Stella told him that now he has to process now in there. It's going to get hot in there, which was a good thought, I mean, he'll be in his tank top the entire time :D (sorry, I know this is a review of the show, but can ya blame me?!)And then we find out that "Ooo killer was in there before the door opened!!!"

I loved the scene where Danny finds the newspaper clippings, you can really see his humanity there as he feels so bad for the poor guy who died, who couldn't get over his tragic loss. He was so upset; he kept the ear of his brother that was given by the ransomers.

Other creepy aspects of this case was the doctor hypnotizing the vic so he wouldn't know that he, the doctor, was a smoker. And then we find out his pills were swapped so that he would be more depressed. And then we find out the housekeeper did it? She said "I loved him." That's bull you KILLED HIM. And what is best is when we find out that Jerry and Linda are boyfriend and girlfriend! And he kept Danny in there the entire time. What a jerk! (well okay it did mean we get to see him in a tank for the entire time- mwahahah.)

    Favorite scene:

I believe my favorite scene or quote, had to be the whole Clue and Monopoly bit between Flack and Stella.

    Best science bit:

Most definitely had to be when Danny was running evidence the old way. How he used the materials in the vic's bathroom to do everything. Thank God he had a stocked bathroom ;).

Overall: This was a really great episode. I loved the acting of Danny, as well as the others. It was a great to see them how they did science without fancy gadgets. It proves, well our guys aren't just people with badges in front of computers. They earned it. Just a bit touching:

Had to be the whole side story of Danny’s brother trying to contact him, and then in the end when Danny calls his bro!!! I loved it. Great to see the case affected him in a positive light and made him see he should love his family when they are trying to reach out and change leaves.

ummmmmm, this is one of the best episodes not only from season two but also from the entire series, this one was brilliant, I really loved this episode. I´m not a fan of carmine but I have to damit that he acted very good in this episode, here I loved both the original plot and the sub plot, they were so interesting.

when I´m seeing one episode from season five or six and I remember this one I just say "Why they don´t keep doing more episodes like this one".

P.D: I´m from venezuela, I´m not an expert writing in english, please forgive my mistakes
  • Excellent Script & Excellent Acting

The top of the list and something that I keep coming back to is the strong performance of Carmine Giovinazzo. I have always impressed with his acting abilities but this episode just really highlights what he's cabable of doing, I look forward to seeing more in the future. Now for the episode I that this was so well written. Both cases have interesting twists. From the victims themselves to the people that surround them. The classic one-liners and banter is ever present and timely placed. I liked the concept of the panic room. The scene where is locks is very realistic and you really feel for Danny. The interaction between Mac & Lindsay is real teamwork. Pino the ever talented and quick witted ME makes his presence known in both cases.
  • Danny gets caught in a panic room.

This episode seemed like it would be really exciting, as the premise seemed captivating but unfortunately it was not executed well. Danny did not seem to be worried about being stuck in a panic room at all and the killer came out of the blue and was only on screen for seconds. That is not good writing because it kills, pun intended, the big reveal when you actually find out who the murderer is if they haven't been on screen too much.

This was still a pretty fun episode, as is virtually anything involving strippers, but just not one of CSI: NY's best.
  • A very imaginative one!!

Danny is wonderful. He demonstrates that he is really smart and really hot at the same time (this white t-shirt... ). I like when he works with Stella too. Their case was very interesting, that poor guy traumatised all his life for his brothers death and they service killing him trying to hypnotize him....Awesome. And I loved the scene with PINO ( well, I love PINO, so...), indicating Danny how to perform an autopsy, I laughed a lot!!!

I also like the fcomplicity between Danny and Flack and all the pizza joke!!

Mac and Lindsay working together is always great!! They have this special relationship... I love when she says " I'll bring my boots" LOL!!! And as big M&M shipper I love the moment when Lindsay asks Mac how is Danny!! their case was great: the striper burned by a big focus, the writers have a huge imagination!!
  • Danny's trapped in a panic room... And someone got burned.

Though both stories were good enought to get your attention, Danny winding up locked inside a panic room provided for interesting content. Not only because of the investigation itself, but what took place inside the room. The way he had to collect the evidence becasue of the room warming up and all was nicely done. Don't know how real it is, but it was entertaining. :) The ending was a good twist, but there was just something about the entire set up that seemed a bit forced to me. Plus, Stella got there too quickly, I thought. But that's just me. As for the other story, it just didn't catch my attention as much, it was just overshadowed, I guess, by the panic room scenario.
  • I LOVED this episode. It had me on the edge of my seat.

Poor Danny! I didn't know he had a brother (younger or older?). I thought the whole idea of a panic room was really creepy, especially since Danny is a claustrophobe (remember from A Man a Mile?). He sure let it show! I was totally freaking out at the end. I thought he was dead for sure! Funny, though. It made me realize that I have deeper feelings for him then I thought. I think I have a huge crush on this guy.... But can you blame me? He is FINE!

In conclusion, I thought it was a brilliant episode. Keep it up!
  • this was amazing omg danny he is so buff gawdddd!! the episode was so good- spoilers inside...

This was a really good episode with everthing happening at the end and the james blunt song hehe~ So the cases were really good but the stripper one was really obvious who did it... come on!!

But i really LOVED the ending where danny gets saved by stella- perfectly gripping and everything. Danny gets trapped in a room with the dead body and has to stay in the enclosed space and save the evidence without a kit which is actually really interesting!

It was really sweet when lindsay sounded really worried about danny being in there for 13 hours soo cute!!!!!!

So basically you should watch this episode because it will keep you gripped till the end and make sure you listen to the ring tones... hehe~
  • One of my favourite episodes yet!

Danny gets trapped in a panic room. Without an evidence kit, he must improvise what there is in the room to process the crime scene. And gah, he looks absolutely hot when he took out his shirt(but there was a singlet on)!!! And okay, i figured it would be the housemaid who did it. But about the locksmith being her boyfriend was unpredictable. Until i heard the same ringtone they both have, then i knew! =D And the whole part where the locksmith pointed the gun at Danny was exciting! (Note:I nearly fall off my seat watching that)Luckily, Stella came in time to save the day! Phew, it was a good episode, mainly because it was cleverly plotted and i'm a die-hard of Danny!
  • Plot holes, slow pace, uninteresting cases... But the end was really good!

    7.9
    "Good"
This episode didn't do much for me at first. The storyline with the murdered stripper never caught my interest and it felt like they could have left that one out. The Panic Room storyline got a bit boring after a while, it was literally at a stand-still.

But then came an interesting plot-twist which I guess some people saw coming but I know I didn't. I suspected the doctor to be the other person involved. They used a very good method to disclose who the accomplice was, and the scene that followed was really thrilling.

But there were a few things which brought the overall quality down.

One: Cops in New York don't know what a Panic Room is? If nothing else they ought to have heard of the movie "Panic Room"...

Two: The whole thing with Danny's brother. Completely unnecessary and very cheesy. It was painfully obvious where that storyline would go.

Three: So Stella talks to the second bad guy on the phone, then the bad guy goes after Danny and just a minute later Stella is there... What, is the police station in the same building? No way she would have gotten there that fast.

Four: This is the second episode in a row where someone has had a funky ringtone and someone else has commented on it. Does the show have some sort ringtone advertising deal?

Five: Even though a panic room is supposed to have everything you need to stay alive for a few days, how come there were so many chemicals and stuff like that, conveniently waiting for Danny to use? I mean, come on, who has any of that stuff in a panic room? And what would the rich guy have used it for?

Six: I always get irritated when they make "smart popcultural comments" and don't even make them right. Like the "the butler is always guilty; didn't you ever play Clue?" thing. Last time I checked there IS no butler in the game of Clue.

On the bright side though... Stella is starting to grow on me. I didn't like her much in season one but now I'm starting to warm up to her.

All faults aside though... The last five minutes or so were really good and lifted the episode. I enjoyed the watch.

Trapped is my favorite episode so far in this series. I like tha drama but at the same time the case was way interesting. Danny getting stuck in the panic room was a great idea and well he was also way hot without his shirt on, so nothing wrong with that? I remember when I first saw the episode I was just like wow...again again!! But alas i can't watch it again until its on reruns. But back to the point, it was just so much fun and had a great twist at the end. Its one of those episodes you remember and it sticks with you. Leave you with a wow feeling.
  • Loved this episode.

Trapped has been my favorite episode since I saw it when it first aired. I loved how it kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Danny is my favorite in CSI:NY so I really liked this episode because he is stuck in the panic room solving the case and as the room gets hotter he takes off his shirt and is left in the little under shirt. It also had a very clever ending that was near impossible to predict like a lot of shows are. And the other case with the lune wrestling was really something. I also did not see that one coming. Trapped is my favorite NY episode just because it has some drama but not so much that its like a Soap Opera.
  • I thought this was a great episode!

    "Great"
This was amazing I thought. Carmine Giovinazzo (Danny) acted fantastically in this episode. He expertly played all aspects of the character and the situation which was excellent.

The plot I thought was very good as sometimes you know who the killer is at the beginning...but this left it to the very end, making it very exciting and full of suspense. The ringtones I thought were a little cheesey, but it was cleverly put in the story.

The only part I perhaps didn\'t agree on was that Danny had everything he needed in that room, eventhough it was only the bedroom supposedly...it seemed like quite a few rooms when you consider what he found! However, it showed how CSI\'s can improvise and it was very insightful.

I really like the way all 3 of the CSI's develop character, however I think it would help the audience relate more to the characters if they done it a little less sparingly!!!

All in all, i thought a fantastic episode... this was the episode in which I began really noticing Carmine Giovinazzo for his acting, so well done again CSI!!!!
  • Excellent installment.

They made it a little too obvious that it was the guy trying to access the lock. If he hadn't mentioned anything about the ring tone, it would have been a shock... but he opened his mouth and said something stupid. Other than that... I didn't see the rest of it coming. After this episode, I think I can make a safe bet and say that CSI: New York is my favorite of the three series right now. I'm enjoying it to the fullest. CSI: Miami has taken a big soap opera turn, and CSI's episodes have been pretty lackluster this season besides Gum Drops and A Bullet Runs Through It. February sweeps is upon us now, but right now as I'm writing this, but right now - CSI: New York is the cream of the crop.

First let me say that I like CSI : all 3 of them and I only started watching them this year. A friend insisted that since I like L&O so much I'd like CSI too she was right.

This episode hit one of my pet peeves. Convenient placement of necessary products to move the story alone. The murder victim was a recluse with some mental issues but happened to have even gosh-darn-tootin' (if you'll excuse the language) item necessary for the crime scene to be processed.

This is science CSI writers, there are objects necessary for the team to do their jobs having them 'conveniently' in a BEDROOM for gawd's sake sent the incredulity meter spinning out of control.
  • CSI's have a bad habit of getting trapped in small places, eh?

Nicely done. Both cases were novel and interesting, and the technical improvisation was awesome. This series is getting better with every episode.

The character of Danny seems to be evolving. Family relationships, very relevent in this case, are always complicated and it was interesting to see how Danny interacts with his own family.
  • Nothing stunning... (spoilers)

    7.8
    "Good"
This one is better than the last one (thank goodness). The panic room storyline was much better than the stripper one. Do you get the idea that someone has been watching old episodes of MacGyver lately? I figured the maid, but not the locksmith. Good point was raised in another review - what the heck is with the ringtones?!?!? Enough already!!! The music for the episode was okay, not Brown's best, maybe, but still it didn't need to be overridden by those bloody ringtones.

There was a tiny bit of character development - turns out Danny has a brother named Louie who is something of a slacker, or so it is implied. I do actually like learning stuff about the characters, as it makes me more likely to care about them, and thus continue to watch the show... lol
  • In response to angelspinkrose's review, I guessed the door man and maid had something to do with it. But not the other one. Haha.. This is a well written episode. Although technically not an ensemble show, the spotlight isn't on Gary Sinise in this ep.

    9.4
    "Superb"
I liked both the cases on this episode. Each suspect has enough innnocence in them that make you want to "suspect" that they are the real killers. (As with alot of the CSI shows, the prime suspect at the beginning is never the killer. It is more likely a sidekick who gets airtime or a "lesser prime" suspect).

For the stripper's case. I was quite in suspense whether it was the lover/manager or lesbian lover who killed her. Both looked nice enough to NOT kill her...so naturally in CSI, one of them eventually kills her.

I had been guessing that the doorman is involved in killing Mr panic. That guy was on screen quite often at different times as a sidekick.

What is up with all the ringtones? Minor annoyance.

Big Plus Point. The dark blueish hue on CSI NY is back. At least this episode. The blue tone was well contrasted with the vibrant living room Stella and Flack was in, as well as the bright mortuary.

    -0.1 Ringtones.

    -0.2 Mediocre music score.

-0.3 Some cheesy lines (Call your partner!...Partner is right here!)

The others likes/dislikes counterbalance each other
  • Didn't guess the door guy had something to do with it.

    8.1

Pretty good episode, could have done without the yuck factor. The lesbian girlfriend killing her partner was not all that hard to figure out. The door guy involved in the weird guy's murder was surprising. You knew the maid had something to do with it though. I'm liking the new girl more and more.
