  • Serial Killer Shane Casey Goes After Danny And Lindsay Who Are On A Vacation, On The 6th Season Finale.

    9.5
    "Superb"
This not the finale that I expected but it managed to keep my interest. Danny and Lindsay go to Long Island with Lucy. They are not aware that Shane Casey has escaped from the local police. So Mac and the team are rushing to stop him before Shane reaches his endgame. A different CSI NY finale which lived up to the hype. The scene at the lighthouse was one of the best throughout the series. The only thing that I did not buy was Casey's survival. But it was not a big flaw. Carmine Giovinazzo gives his second-best performance in CSI NY, the best was at "Run Silent, Run Deep".
  • Can't wait for Season 7 to start.

I really enjoyed this season finale. Loved how we got a glimpse into the world of the Danny, Lindsay and Lucy in a way that we never have before.

Yes it is a crime show, but for me this show is more character driven than the other CSI shows and so ise just as important as the crimes, so seeing not just their working lives fits the show perfectly and helps people relate to the team more.

I have seen some posts around and about wondering how in the hell Shane survived the fall and I am not going to lie I was shocked to see him in lucys room and the end and thought how the heck he managed that one!!! But i got in a discussion with someone knows about falls and stuff and apparantly it is possible depends on tides and some other things (which I didn't understand). But let us also remember, that this is scripted TV show not a reality show so they can take some licence with things.

    Bring on Season 7, I can't wait.

I actually like this can't of story's. With puzzles and stuff. Oke, I am not a real fan of CSI: NY. In a way that I don't watch every episode. But when i watch I like it. And far far more then Miami. But I can relate to what the other reviewers say. Its a bit predictable. Especially that he still lives after the fall.

Still it wasn't to bad. And I think the writers do this can't of stuff cause to keep a show running you need to get the viewers involved in the characters. Else the show dies. Thats why shows like House en NCIS keep running, else it becomes boring.

And to the matter of the high-tech equipment. Actually I need to defend the show here. First of all: the fact that we are not formilar with the equipment doesn't proof the point that it can't exist.

Second: Technology is advancing very fast. So it can be true.

Third: This kind of equipment is used in all kinds of shows (so maybe its real). Two examples: NCIS: LA, Bones (even more advanced stuff there).

The thing I find more strange is the fact that they can do anything with their phones. The pictures they make are almost, if not as bright as the ones of a normal camera. And they can send it with one button and its there within the second. I know phones can do much now, but this is too much for me. At least uploading takes a bit more time and pictures aren't as clear. In my opinion this should be looked into.

Back to the ep. It was a nice one and that you people gave it a one isn't fear. Maybe its not the best final. However its not that bad. And how longer the show runs how harder it gets to write great finales. So don't be too harsh. You would enjoy the episode.

And actually I liked the ending for the fact that you don't have a clue of what happened. That's how a final should be. Some end with at least half a happy end and not too shocking facts. But this one keeps you guessing and thinking.

    So a good 7,5
  • Silly episode, but...

... we don't know that Casey fell all the way down to the rocks. I suspect we'll find out in the season 7 premiere that he landed on some ledge and managed to crawl back into the building, or something equally daft.

A pity that every arm of the CSI franchise seems to be running out of steam, though. Vegas isn't the same without Grissom, Miami and Horatio have become parodies of themselves (and they were always the least credible to start with), and NY has turned into a poor version of the Da Vinci Code, which is saying something.
  • Flawed, yes, but still, how could you not have enjoyed it?!

ok i know this episode was filled with flaws as people before me have pointed out but i still can't help but love it!

i did freak out at the end of course, i don't want Danny to die, I love him & the whole Messer family- wow has Lucy grown up! I really don't know whether or not he will have survived. To tell the truth I seriously thought he was going to die last season, I thought they would be cruel enough after him getting married & having a baby to kill him off. But it was Angel. So i was wrong. But this season? Who knows.

The main problem I had with this episode was with Lindsay's phone. Not a biggy, but it did really bug me. If she took & sent a photo, the phone was on so why not just call her? I mean they didn't even try. Total fail.

I am glad they showed more of Danny & Lindsay & their little family, we haven't seen much of them lately & I do enjoy it when they spend some time on the characters & not just the case.

Overall, my rating was I admit slightly on the generous side but with all the excitement & D/L family scenes plus that cliffhanger... I thought it deserved a high score.

Can't wait to see what happens! (please don't kill Danny!)
  • the worst CSI NY episode ever

    "Poor"
I really found very bad episodes in season six but definitively this is the worst,in this episode I found so many stupid momments, first of all, I really hated the way in which casey scaped from that silly policce officer, then we got a lot of boring clues left by him, after that we got that stupid fight beetwen hem and danny in the lighthouse, but if you think that it can´t be worse, YOU´RE WRONG, because at the end of the chapter we got maybe the worst momment in the enteire series when we found that casey could survive from that deadly fall and now he is in messer´`s apartment whitout any wound like if nothing had happened.

Believe, this episode is so bad, I´m very disapointed by knowing that this episode was directed by Duane Clark because he is the man who has directed the best episodes of the series but with this one

    "Poor"
I was really disappointed with "Vacation Getaway." The first 3/4 of the episode was actually pretty good, but the ending was just full of stupidity. Ok, so Shane Casey - who went to some great lengths to escape from jail - starts sending the CSIs clues about one or more crimes he has or will commit. At that same time, Danny and Lindsay are taking Lucy out on their first getaway to a beach and lighthouse. Danny knows something's up, but the CSIs tell him they've got it under control. As the clues add up, the CSIs realize that Shane is going after Danny. One of Shane's clues is a dollar bill with a picture of a lighthouse on the back, so the CSIs are trying to figure out which lighthouse it is. At that same time Lindsay is taking a picture at the lighthouse her family is visiting and uploads the picture somewhere. The CSIs see her phone come on, giving them her exact location, and they realize that not only is she at a light house, but she's at a lighthouse which has features matching all of the other clues on the dollar bill. Mac orders them to call out the local police and get a helicopter, but - and this was the first great stupidity - **no one tried to call Lindsay** and warn her that they were in danger. Think about that again for a sec - they see that her cell phone is on, they know she's in danger, they know the killer is headed for the exact location she's at, but no one tries to call her to warn her. Granted, the episode would have been shorter, as Shane would have lost his element of surprise, but still... couldn't they have **tried**? It's also a bit stupid that, since Danny and Lindsay knew *before* they left that Shane was communicating with the cops again, neither of them had their phone on. I'm all for understanding that they'd want to avoid any unnecessary interruptions, but you'd think they'd want to at least leave a line of communication open if there's even a small risk that a guy you know is after you is active again. I could have forgiven a plot point such as the CSIs DO try to get a hold of Lindsay and Danny, but inside the lighthouse, for some reason, they aren't able to get cellular signals. That would have given us the same tension without making Danny and Lindsay too stupid to take even a simple precaution or the CSIs too stupid to call and warn their friends.

Then we get to the confrontation with Shane. As noted above, he went to some lengths to break out of jail, and has made it pretty clear he's after Danny. Why does he hate Danny so much? Why is getting Danny so important that he'd make the kind of effort to get him that he did? He tells us that it's because he had originally thought his brother was wrongly convicted, so he felt good about going after the people he thought had been involved in wrongly convicting him, and Danny had the temerity to point out that his brother actually was guilty. Whaaaaa? That's it? Shane says his brother killed himself because he couldn't live with what he'd done, but Shane himself was ok with the lives he'd taken. So if he's so ok with it, why does he need to get revenge on Danny? It's just one of the most ridiculous motivations I've ever heard of on a cop show - he told me the truth so he must die? Ooookaaay then....

Then the ending. Shane and Danny battle at the top of the lighthouse, and Shane falls into the ocean below. Now, given that there right at the shore, the water in that area isn't going to be terribly deep, and there are a lot of rocks right below the lighthouse. Plus, it's a pretty long fall. So, Lindsay, Danny and Lucy get home, everyone's all tucked into bed, and Danny hears Lucy cry. He goes into the room, and sees Shane - who we presumed 2 minutes previously was dead - holding Lucy - and **still wet from the fall.** I'm sorry, but the distance that he fell and kind of surface he had to fall only would have at the VERY least left him with some kind of injuries - and they'd've been the type that would make it pretty hard to sneak in the window of an apartment! Again, if they'd just popped in a chryon saying something like "2 weeks later" - given him some time to dry off and heal up before sneaking in a window, that wouldn't have felt nearly as idiotic - and it would have been an even greater shock for everyone because they would have had plenty of time for their adrenaline to mellow out and fall into that nice false sense of security. In the episode, we also saw Lindsay wake up fairly quickly after Danny got out of bed and found Shane. The screen cut to black followed by a gunshot, but because we know that the first attack had obviously been just a few hours earlier that day, it's not hard to guess that Lindsay, upon seeing Danny gone from his side of the bed, likely got up, got her gun, and came to their rescue, and it was her gun going off that we heard at the end. Obviously, I don't know that for sure, but it strikes me as the most likely scenario. If they'd had this final appearance of Shane set a couple weeks later, Lindsay most likely wouldn't have been as suspicious when she saw Danny was up - babies DO wake up and need attention in the middle of the night, you know - so it would be more likely that it wouldn't occur to her that they were in danger. But because the fight had been so recent - that very day - all of her defence systems are likely on full alert and she's going to pick up that something's really off.

Anyway, that's my take on it. Like I said the first 3/4 were *great*! Good acting, nice tension build, interesting puzzles and cute scenes at the beach. But that last part just **killed** the whole episode for me - and it would only have taken a couple minor changes to make it work so much better. Well, fixing the stupidity of the motive would have taken more work, but I'll bet if it hadn't been for the phone call issue and the weakness of the ending, I could have overlooked the bad motive a lot more easily.
  • One Word - AMAZING!!

    "Perfect"
In this episode of CSI New York, the following happens. So having watched all of the finale's for the shows I watch, apart from Criminal Minds, I can say hands down this was by far the best and has the best cliff-hanger. And this is why.

Danny, Lindsay and Lucy all go away for a couple of days. Only Casey escapes and tracks them down. As the team realise that he is after the family, they try to find them. As they do, Casey is there. Lindsay and Lucy escape, whilst Danny is held with a gun pointed at him. As the police and the CSI team make it there, Danny and Casey get into a fight and Casey falls out of the lighthouse and into the ocean, presumably dying.

So Danny and Lindsay head back to the city, to spend their few days left o vacation as a family. We see Danny and Lindsay having a nap, whilst Lucy sleeps. Danny wakes to hear Lucy crying and goes to get her. As he enters the room, we see Casey standing there, holding the baby. As the screen fades to black, we hear a gun shot.

Overall this finale was just amazing! I cannot wait until the new season starts. A very gripping episode, and the end scene, although I knew it was coming, still shocked me.
  • The worst CSI: NY finale there's been.

    7.0
    "Good"
Perhaps for the first time ever, I have been let down by a CSI: NY season finale. Every finale up until now has been one of the best if not THE best episode of the season. But this mediocre episode is a good way to sum up what this extremely lousy sixth season has given us. Where was the crime scene investigating, may I ask? How stupid must Lindsay and Danny be to either turn off their phones or leave their phones at home when they're informed a serial killer from their past is free? Added to that why didn't the NY team call Lindsey's cell phone when she turned it on at last? The stupidity presented by the characters is just flat out embarrassing. And the "cliffhanger" at the end is one of the cheapest and most cliched in television history. CSI: NY is packing its bags and heading to Fridays at 9/8C where it will likely go through its 7th and final season, which is too bad. The first five seasons of CSI: NY is what got me hooked, and what made the show slick and entertaining. But this beyond lame sixth season has been just plain insulting.
  • Worst CSI:NY Ever!!

    "Abysmal"
There has been some pretty stupid episodes lately but this one really takes the biscuit! Not only does the science lab have some magical computer equipment but now their villains are invincible! He fell off a lighthouse people come-on!! i mean really. Clearly there has been a change of writers at some point in the not too distant past because CSI NY never used to be so cheesy and predictable. It pales in significance to its roots in Season 1 when the lab was based in the extremely cool gothic building and the story lines were fresh and interesting. The writing has now plumbed such depths that it makes the acting seem bad too.

Don't think will bother watching Season 7.

OK - this Shane Casey thing is gone way beyond ridiculous and unbelievable! Every story that features him gets more ludicrous - HOW can one man escape so times when it appears it's a "sure thing" his is finally caught? HOW could anyone survive that fall from the lighthouse let alone do it without a scratch or broken bone? Even if the next season starts with what Dannyt thinks is Shane holding his daughter turns out to be a nightmare, it's time to stop with Shane Caey and move on. I love the show but this line has gone way beyond its useful life.

"Vacation Getaway" was the title for the season finale of CSI: NY and I think that people probably loved it, but you just cannot count me as one of those people. I just feel like I have seen this a hundred times on the show (some crazy killer gets free, and terrorizes people and ends up shooting one of the officers) and by the 100th time none of this really mattered to me.

There were certain times when I was intrigued, but this episode just felt like a bust to me. Too much fluff in between those particular scenes that did have action.
  • awes and flaws Spoilers inside

    "Superb"
I loved this episode, by the last few minutes kinda ruined it for me, not because of the cliffhanger, because of the poor writing of the cliffhanger. But more on that later.

Things I liked: I loved that this was an episode about Danny, Lindsay and Lucy. Why introduce a CSI family without including them here and there. The banter that Lindsay and Danny had throughout the episode was also well planned and greatly used.

And then there was Shane Casey. That nutcase is quite an amazing villain, but holy crap is he CRAZY! His motivation to go after Danny seems a little weak... but as Mac said, Danny is his "endgame." Casey has flown off his rocker (if he was ever on it), and decided to go after Danny cause a) he was the one who beat casey at his own game and b) I think Casey seems them as equals in a way, except that Danny's on the right path and Casey can't seem to accept that. At least, that's my take on it. I think Casey wanted to sever any reminder of his past life, or anyone that could stop him, as this looks like the calm before the storm. As for the team, great for them to try saving their own, it was trying and for a second i thought that the cliffhanger would be Danny and Shane in the lighthouse, but fortunately that wasn't the case. As always, the acting was strong throughout the entire episode.

Then the lovely family moment (before the cliffhanger) between Lindsay and Danny was great and i completely believed that was the end of the episode. But nope, not the case. Sadly... my intuition tells me that when someone says "I'm not going anywhere, I promise" to someone they love... they're going to die a couple minutes or next episode later. Happened in Chuck on Monday. Happens in a lot of tv shows. Hopefully, foreshadowing does not play that part in this episode, as I love Danny's character and the whole Messer family plot.

Now... the one thing that i disliked, and what is keeping this from a perfect score in my eyes is the believability of the cliffhanger. Shane Casey falls out of a lighthouse into the water. Now, Mac says the tide was high... so maybe it could've cushioned his fall, but with the amount of rocks and the wind gusting like that, he should be dead. However there he is, when Danny goes to check in on baby Lucy, holding a gun, pointing at Danny, laughing like the madman he is, and is willing to kill him in front of his child. And of course... the gunshot when the screen fades to black. Thank you writers for that cliffhanger... is it September yet?

Now,I have a few theories, some from other people and some I came up with. One is Lindsay coming in to save the day and shooting Casey like he deserves. To me it's highly unlikely.

Then there's the dream sequence, plausible, would forgive the continuity of the fall to death casey had, but will have really cheesed CSI NY fans in Septemmber.

My theory however is that Casey, as implied, shoots Danny, and takes off with Lucy. Now, I'd like to think that he misses, and that Danny is okay, cause let's face it, he's part of the original cast, he has such a good plotline and Carmine Giovinazzo (sadly) doesn't really have any better offers right now. And why show us so much of the wall where Danny is before cutting to black? Has to be intentional. If he shoots Danny, it'll hopefully be non-fatal, or a gaze or something for reasons above. As for Lucy, if Casey takes her, he'd be subject to a HUGE manhunt, fueled by two angry parents and one angry godparent (Mac in case you forgot). And hey, look at that CSI NY, it's a great season opener plot! Only time will tell though, and we all have 4 months to speculate what will be the outcome of the finale.
  • A packed with Action and love finale!:P and with a cliffhanger of course....

    "Superb"
OMG!!!! I liked the chapter a lot... more than I expected and I'm still 'wtf' with the end. It was pretty clear that Casey was alive and kicking after they didn't find the body, but c'mon! Is he immortal?? That fall must at least cause a couple of broken bones! And DL staying back at their place with no protection?? Are you kidding me??? Unless that shot comes from someone that is actually there to take a look at them... Maybe Flack sitting in the rocking chair?? Now I'm just going crazy myself!

All the chapter was good and very entertaining. I loved that Sid and Adam had a part in it and that Casey left clues on Dollar bills.... If I have to be honest it reminded me of a season 3 chapter and that couldn't be a better compliment! Lindsay worked on the Casey case, so how is it that Shane doesn't recognise her and just refers to her as the Miss? Too bad for our theory of Lindsay and Lucy kicking Shane's butt in the lighthouse although this could still happen...

I'm a little meh with the last scene. 2 years in a row with the black screen, shots fired and credits to end a season? The truth is that it would be pretty obvious that the one getting shot is Danny and I really hope that TPTB don't go that way....

Just a little note on Flack getting back to his funny lines!! The Shane was wearing a t-shirt sayiong 'I just scaped Penn state and all I got was this lousy t-shirt' was awesome and when they found the accomplice hang up amazing too... I missed him!

All in all a pretty decent finale to a quite crappy season... Is it September, yet???
  • To TV.com admin and fans: CSI: NY is moving to Friday 9:00 PM (eastern) this fall. (Edit: Thanks Admin!).

It was really good. It was suspenseful., really reminded me of season 3's HOTD. The clues were amazing. Casey is an artist so he's capable of that. Why leave any clues? Because he's crazy. It's his signature.

The Messer Family moments were great. Feel good moments.

So, Casey was targeting Danny because he was proven wrong about his brother's innocence. He's really crazy! We can't really understand what's going on a crazy mind.

I kept guessing what the cliffhanger would be. I think I was fooled three times as when the cliffhanger would be shown. When the showdown between Danny and Casey ended, and there was a scene with Stella/Flack/Lindsay/Lucy/Danny in slow-mo, I thought the whole lighthouse would blow off and the end! I was wrong! And the last scene definitely made me nervous. I was sure Casey would show up.

Before, I was just wondering how Casey went all over New York City just like that. But he had a gun so he could just use it to scare any taxi driver to drive him all over the city. Or he has his own car. (Yes, there was a scene of him with Ganz in a car.)

Well, I really enjoyed it as well as the rest of the season. Although the finale (cliffhanger) was not the kind of I would speculate or worry the entire summer, I'm happy how this season ended.

I congratulate all the writers, staff, crew and actors behind CSI: NY. Thank you for bringing us a roller-coaster ride this season. I really appreciate that you all did your best to give us a great season. Job well done!
  • The sixth season ends with Danny and Lindsay taking a much needed vacation with their daughter Lucy. However that vacation is about to get spoiled by a psychotic killer named Shane Casey.

    "Good"
I have to say that I "liked" this episode, but there are just too many flaws for me to give it a higher score. Once again Edward Furlong does a very good job playing Shane Casey. Seeing Mac and the team trying desparately to find Danny and Lindsay before Shane does is very entertaining. However the second act of the episode just did not work. How did Shane know exactly when Danny and Lindsay would stop at the lighthouse (if at all)? There is no way that Shane could have survived the fall from the lighthouse. A very flawed episode.
  • I created this account purely to say how terrible this episode is

    1.0
    "Abysmal"
This episode summed up nicely everything that has gone wrong in CSI NY.

    - The completely unbelievable villains; the pinnacle of which is Shane Casey

    - The show's ridiculous obsession with ludicrous puzzles rather than forensic evidence

    - The completely unrealistic plots and happenings (as if anyone survives a fall of hundreds of feet into rocks and ocean without more than a scratch on the nose) - the worst thing about this is that CSI NY has become so lame, I saw it coming that he would be alive after the fall once they said they'd not found a body

    - Lindsay being annoying (WHAT was that crap about a lack of closeness at the end all about)

    - That stupid virtual reality table they have

I am so disappointed with CSI NY this season. Barely a single episode has held my attention, all have felt formulaic and predictable, and for the most part I've not even cared about the outcome as the regular characters have become ridiculous stereotypes with either dull or ludicrous personal life plots.

CSI NY used to be my favourite CSI and I cannot believe how bad it has now become. I couldn't take the ending to this episode seriously. If it continues like this I shall not be watching too much of season 7.

when he's holding lucy, ad then it went dark and the was a shot fired, i started freaking out, i really don't want danny to die, or lucy, but i hoping that maybe shane gets shot, even though that's kind of impossible because he had the gun at he was trying to get back at danny and not kill himself, but then lindsay was waking up at the end, so there's a really small chance that maybe she grabbed a gun and shot him, but that's highly unlikely, unfortunately. i can't wait to see the next episode of the new season, i really wanna know what happens
