Cuffy is a spin-off from the ATV's sis-part comedy-drama Shillingbury Tales, Cuffy focused on the life of the rag-tag ragamuffin man who lived in discomfort in his tawdry caravan and moped around the village of Shillingbury wearing a grubby coat, flap cap and stubble. Underneath it all, though, the tinker had a heart of something approaching gold. Other cast members from Shillingbury Tales reprised their roles. Although he had no other connection to the saga, Bob Monkhouse created the character Cuffy and gave it free of charge to his friend and former TV producer Francis Essex.moreless
