In the comedy genre I'd say it's my second favorite. I used to say it was the first but that has to go to Arrested Development. With every genre taken into consideration, though, I'd have to say my two favorite shows of all time have to be The Shield & Nip/Tuck with AD and Curb coming in third and fourth.

Now way! I do not want to get into everything, but I will say, it is mainly Curb Your Enthusiasm's irreverence. To me, the hugest factor for Curb Your Enthusiasm not being one of televisions greatest shows, is the same thing that many people laud it for--not adhering to a script; being improvised. First of all, many failed gags have been conveyed as a result of this. Secondly, it shows the lack of loyalty the creators have to their own show. I mean, come on, Curb Your Enthusiasm has a ten episode, video shot season--it could be structured so very well. Even what does work cannot be respected (laughed at yes). It is like this, if Bach perfected Polyphony by just putting a bunch of progressions together, it would still be great because he revolutionized Music Theory. However, he knew it was there, he sought it out, and he mastered it.
