In this series, Custer is stationed out of Fort Hays, Kansas. However, this particular episode involves a rather quick trip into the Black Hills, which is in South Dakota. They made amazing time on horseback, considering that they had to cross Nebraska to get there and back.
California Joe (about the murdered miners): Strange the things that some men will go through for a little kettle of gold.
California Joe (to Custer): Now I ain't no cavalry officer but I'd say we're on a dang fool's errand.
Custer: 15 hours a day in the saddle can develop blisters of disillusion.
California Joe (to Custer after spotting Sioux): We gonna fight 'em or run 'em a horse race?
Terry: Politicians! If only they'd leave the Army blasted alone!
Rudford: Let me remind you, Custer, I'm a civilian. You cannot order me around. Custer: That's precisely the reason you're not going.
Bustard (about Rudford): I don't like that man. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. Custer: Careful, Sergeant, you're liable to get your name in the papers.
Lt. Rudford: It's easy to see I'm not one of your favorite officers. Sgt. Mason: Lieutenant, I despise every square inch of you.
James Daly was the father of actors Timothy and Tyne Daly.
Chris Robinson would go onto play Dr. Rick Webber on the ABC daytime drama General Hospital.
Weird, no one has discussed Custer yet.
