D-Day: The Total Story

Show Summary

D-Day: The Total Story is The History Channel's three-part documentary on the invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord, or as it is better known, D-Day. The History Channel dives into the story of the largest amphibious invasion in history, using combat footage, interviews with the soldiers of the invasion, and commentary from historians to tell the story. D-Day had huge decisions and some tragic losses, and this series aims to be the ultimate telling of the story, going back to the initial plans and strategies, all the way to the final breakthrough of troops. We hear the larger strategies of Eisenhower, Montgomery, Marshall and Bradley, and we also see what defense strategies the Germans had to try to block the attack. Narrated by actor Gerald McRaney, the documentary takes an in-depth look at the battle which took the lives of many, showing the heroism and valor of the men who fought in it, getting first-hand accounts from survivors. Watch as the historical battle unfolds on screen on The History Channel's D-Day: The Total Story.moreless
