Shannon and Leary investigate a skeleton found in the Grandview Cut. Chick tells them it has been there for at least a year and Shannon believes the skeleton is that of a woman who disappeared on a case he investigated a year earlier. When the identity is confirmed as that woman, Mick and Kosmo go undercover as a married couple in the house next-door to the husband, who is Shannon's main suspect. They learn he's living with another woman now, the same woman he was having an affair with when his wife disappeared.
Da Vinci, meanwhile, attempts to get a reluctant witness to testify at an inquest involving a propane truck explosion. A man driving a minivan crashed into the propane truck head-on, causing an explosion that severely burned the witness. The detective on the case, as well as Sunny and the propane company, determine that the minivan driver had a heart attack that was in no way connected to the propane truck. Da Vinci is unconvinced, determined to prove that the propane trucks are hazardous to the neighborhoods they drive through.
