Fulton Mackay who guest stars in this episode as Captain Ramsey. He later went on to star as Mr Mackay in the prison comedy Porridge and, following that, made another guest appearance in Dad's Army as Doctor McCeavedy in the Season 9 Episode 'The Miser's Hoard'.

Revealing Mistake When the water has risen for a second time it is clear that the door has been replaced with brickwork and a fake door has been put over the top of it. The door is much lighter in colour than the first and you can see the bottom half is missing as the water level doesn't cover it.

Technical Fault There's a missing (black) frame just before Frazer says "The water's getting higher and higher."

The film they are watching at the beginning of the episode is 'The Spy in Black' (1939) with Conard Veidt, a German actor who fled Germany in 1933 and became a British citizen. Mainwaring still seems to have some difficulty with Veidt's German background.

Fluffed line - Mainwaring: "I've seen Counsellor Conway about this on Monday." should be "I'll see Counsellor Conway about this on Monday." to make any sense.

Revealing Mistake - All screws tighten if you turn them clockwise and loosen if you turn them anticlockwise. In the scene where Frazer is using a scout knife to unscrew a coffin lid, he is turning the knife clockwise, thus tightening the screw.

Poor Editing - After Jones has ordered Pike and Frazer to 'about turn' he starts to apologise for getting it wrong but we only hear "Sorr..." and then there's a cut. They obviously removed dialogue but not precisely enough.

References to historical events make it possible to date the events of this episode. Mainwaring mentions that Hess arrived in Britain six weeks earlier. As Hess landed in Britain on May 10, it means these adventures take place in late June 1941.
