James: (about J.R.) He's gonna find himself with the best son and the best wife he ever had. We're gonna kill him with kindness, make him think we're sorry for everything and that we're back on his side. Cally: But why? James: Because, sooner or later, he's gonna slip up and stick his neck all the way out. And when that happens, we're gonna chop it off.
Clayton: Atticus left his entire estate to his son, Dusty. And, because he feels that Dusty can't manage his affairs, all votings rights went to Dusty's mother, Jessica. McKay: Jessica? Clayton: Mmm. McKay: No offense, Clayton, but that lady is nuts. I mean, she can't even tie her own shoelaces.
Jessica: I haven't done anything wrong. Detective Marshall: Then you deny having murdered Curley Morrison and Robert Hutch and Arlen and Atticus Ward? Jessica: Of course, I murdered them. But I had a good reason. Clayton: Jessie, there's never a good reason to murder. Jessica: Oh, Clayton, now you're being silly. Of course, there is.
J.R.: When are you gonna grow up and face reality? You live in my house, you live by my rules and you do what I tell you to. James: No, I won't. I'm out of here! I don't want your house or your rules. Now, find yourself another puppet, because this one just cut his strings.
J.R.: Well, from time to time, I'll come to you and ask for a little favor. A whisper or two in the right politician's ear, you know what I mean. And if you don't, none of your client's secrets are safe, nor are yours. Stephanie: Get out of my sight. J.R.: Remember, you belong to me. Stephanie: Maybe you think that you won this round, but I promise you, 'til the day you die, you will regret ever having tangled with me.
Bobby: Why don't we just figure out the best way of catching her? Clayton: The only way you're gonna catch Jessica is if I'm in standing in the middle of a parking lot with a "Come and Get Me" sign hung around my neck.
Stephanie: Well, let me tell you something, Mr. Chairman, your career is over. You don't stand a chance in Hell of becoming a sanitation engineer, let alone governor. Cliff: As I think of it, I would rather be a sanitation engineer than rely on you. I'm doing a great job at the O.R.C. The governor treats me like his first-born son. So, I don't really need you to help me become governor. Stephanie: Is that right? Well, let me warn you that this is not the last door that is going to be slammed in your face. (Stephanie slams door)
Serena: Am I dreaming or did you really ask your ex-wife to take John Ross away? J.R.: No, you're not dreaming. And she won't have him forever. Serena: But why are you doing this? J.R.: Because John Ross is too young to be exposed to the sight of blood. Serena: And whose blood are we talking about this time? J.R.: Cally's.
Miss Ellie: (Jessica might kill Clayton at Atticus Ward's funeral) Then I am going, too. For better or for worse Clayton, and don't you dare try to tell me differently!
