- During the show's hiatus, actress Donna Reed ("Miss Ellie") took the show's producers to court and tried to stop production on the show after she was fired and replaced by Barbara Bel Geddes (the original "Miss Ellie"), whom she had replaced. Reed and the show eventually agreed to an out-of-court settlement, but, several months later, Reed passed away.

- Actress Morgan Brittany returned to the show for a cameo in the season finale, but was pregnant at the time this episode was filmed. Producers concealed her pregnancy by having Katherine seen sitting in the driver's seat of the car that killed Bobby.
