J.R.: James, you've got a lot to learn. And I just taught you your first lesson. If you got a deal, lock it up before somebody comes along and knocks you outta the box.
J.R.: Uh, say, darling, that's my spot. Stephanie: I doubt it. J.R.: No, I was just about to pull in there. Stephanie: If you would have taken the time or knew how to read, you'd have seen the reserved sign. Visitor parking is over there. J.R.: Why aren't you home fixing lunch for your husband instead of taking up parking spaces?
J.R.: Where were you last night? Cally: Where were you? J.R.: Taking care of business. You didn't answer my question. Cally: Well, I was taking care of business, too—the business of making me happy. I'm tired of sitting around here waiting for you to come home whenever you feel like. J.R.: Well, considering I found you slopping hogs in Hayleyville, I should think you'd be grateful for a place like this to sit in.
Cally: You know, you got a real mean mouth. Michelle: Funny, J.R. seemed to like it.
Lucy: Look, she wasn't talking to you. Michelle: Will you butt out? Lucy: Hey, don't start with me or I'll pop ya one. Michelle: Well, find yourself a ladder so we'd be eye-to-eye. Cally: If you want to come after someone, you come after me. Michelle: Well, what do we do? Rassle country-style?
Miss Ellie: J.R., would you stop worrying about Cliff Barnes. You think he's got nothing do in life except plot against you. J.R.: Mama, the man is—he's, he's like a virus. Every time you think you're rid of it, it comes up and bites you again.
Bobby: (whispering) Good-bye, Pam.
James: Look, you're very pretty. And I'm sure you have some redeeming qualities, but I'm involved with someone right now. Melinda: Oh, good. For a while there, I was thinking maybe you didn't like girls. James: Why? Because I didn't jump right into bed with you? Melinda: It's the only reason I can think of.
(Cliff has just finished taunting J.R.) J.R.: What have I done to deserve this?
