Cliff-hangers are what Dallas did well. Sadly they are missing on prime time television in recent times.

The mystery of Jock Ewing is solve. There are a lot of unanswered questions. I believe it was Jock. He accepted fate and decided not to break up his family that he defended for so long.

This leads onto the main plot and to keep the show alive a new threat emerged. It 's not slick oilmen in business suits but a mercenary solder who is intent on destroying JR. What a way to end an episode with JR sipping his drink as he listens to the speakerphone. (I think I get one of them). JR is at war but not in a way he plan. JR dislikes loosing control and waging war with the unknown.

Of course who not enjoy watching his secretary Sly performing. We haven't seen the last of her.

They are countless other threads running throughout the episode, but the cliff-hanger makes it great episode.
