    "DALLAS" was a good show during it's first and second seasons, but it was still trying to find itself. With the arrival of THIS episode, though, we get to see WHY "DALLAS" became the HUGE success that it became.

    Two MAJOR storylines begin in this episode, which I will refer to as "Kristin" and "Neurofibromatosis" (big word, huh?).

    The "Kristin" Storyline:

    Patricia and Kristin Sheppard arrive in Dallas, Sue Ellen's mother and sister respectively, in order to see little "John Ross Ewing" the third. The actress who portrays Kristin, Mary Crosby, is actually perfect in her role, as she obviously lusts over J.R. and his position as an oil man. It clearly seems that trouble is ahead.

    "Neurofibromatosis":

    This is the main focus of the episode, as the title: "The Silent Killer" refers to the disease that Digger is revealed to have. As the doctor explains, Neurofibromatosis is an inherited genetic disease that both Cliff and Pam have. All three of them were lucky to survive as infants (Pam and Cliff's other two brothers and sister died at age 1, although they never found out why). Catch is that John Ross, who is actually Cliff's son, might due in age 1 as well! Pam now realizes she can't have babies... and tells Bobby, who goes off the roof and won't even give her a chance to explain why she can't have babies.

    Meanwhile, the "Alan Beam" Storyline continues, with J.R. introducing Alan to his father, Jock, and telling him that they HAVE to find a way to destroy Cliff.

    This is EXACTLY WHY I watch the series.moreless
