Arkham House. The location where the underwater sequence takes place is named Arkham House. This references the stories of H.P. Lovecraft. Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1890 – 1937), of Providence, Rhode Island, was an American author of horror, fantasy, and science fiction. The fictional town of Arkham is the site of Miskatonic University and appears in many Lovecraft stories.

Dalziel: Horlicks and Pride and Prejudice. Pride and Prejudice is an 1813 novel by Jane Austen. It had been adapted into a BBC production starring Colin Firth and later into a film starring Keria Knightley and Mathew Macfadden in 2005. Horlicks is a brand name of a malted milk hot drink, said to help people go to sleep when drunk at bedtime.
