Gates tells Tessa that her boyfriend is in the country illegally on an expired visa, and she is aiding him by letting him stay with her. That's why they've arrested her. Ms. Connell proceeds to explain a few things to Ellen. First off, she is not her mother. She says there were problems within the Parsons family, and it was particularly bad when Ellen was very young. Ellen's dad was very angry, and Ms. Connell thought her mom should leave him. Ellen was happy at Ms. Connell's house, so she stayed there at times. At one point, Ellen stayed for six months. Ms. Connell reveals that Ellen's mother asked her to adopt Ellen! She told her mother yes because she adored Ellen. But, her mother changed her mind, and after that she felt it was best that Ellen not see her anymore. Ms. Connell says she loved Ellen, and her mom did the best she could. Ellen just nods.
Patty and Gates talk. She tells him that he is holding Tessa without cause. She says Tessa is the key to her case, and he will have to let her go eventually. He accuses Patty of working with Ellen behind his back on the Danielle Marchetti murder case. He wants evidence. Patty says she is not ready to make a deal and walks out.

Ellen goes to see Patty, who looks upset and is drinking. Ellen asks why she has not returned her calls. Patty asks her how Gates knew Ellen was helping Patty on the case. He tells the actor that is portraying attorney Ray Fiske that he was gay, so feel free to use that in his acting.
Zedeck and Joe discuss the fact that Tessa was arrested. Joe can't believe they did not have a better plan for moving the money than using a 24-year-old as a courier. Zedeck says they did, but the feds moved in too quickly and they had to improvise.
The Past: Louis Tobin, Zedeck, and Danielle are talking. Louis gets nervous and thinks it's just a matter of time before they put two and two together. Danielle gets him some water and he takes his pills. He puts the pill bottle down (leaving it behind later). Louis decides to tell his family tonight because the sooner the better, and then he will turn himself in. Louis tells Zedeck they have to start moving the money and decides to use Tessa because he can trust her.
Joe is concerned and asks Zedeck if Tessa knew about the documents she was signing. Zedeck says no; Tessa does not know anything and she is on Joe's side. He also tells Joe to calm down and not to get paranoid.
Frobisher goes to see Terry in costume and is excited to see the resemblance to himself. Terry tells him that it's not working and it's not authentic enough. He needs to really go inside Frobisher's mind and see why he did what he did, see what drives him. Terry found out some of what really happened, not just what they told him - that Frobisher basically went crazy on Patty. He says that anger is real. Terry needs to see his dark side. Frobisher is a little flustered but agrees.
Patty visits Gates and gives him what he needs to arrest Carol Tobin for the murder of Danielle Marchetti. However, Patty does not want him to release Tessa Marchetti yet, or at least not let the Tobin's know she is released yet.

He thinks they will persuade her to be on their side. He tells Lenny that she is not family. Lenny asks Joe what he wants to do. Joe says you've hired people before to do things. Lenny says he is his attorney and can't let him do something stupid. Joe says he will find someone else then, and he walks out.

Patty, Tom, and Alex meet with Tessa. They will get her out of jail, but they need honest answers about Thanksgiving night. Tessa says she lied; she did see her mother that night.
The Past: Tessa remembers talking to her mother in person Thanksgiving night. Danielle told Tessa they have to help Louis because he is in trouble. She said Tessa will be signing documents but they are only to give money to charity, so it's okay. Then Danielle got the call from Louis to bring his pills. Danielle said no one can know she spoke to Louis today. Danielle then told Tessa to call Lenny to come and get the bag with Louis' boots.
Tom asks Tessa if she remembers anything about the third paper she signed with her checks, maybe a charity name. She says not really, but remembers there were a lot of numbers on the third paper. She has no copies because the bank kept the papers. Alex says it may be a way to transfer money to a U.S. account. Patty asks if Tessa would be interested in going back to Antigua.

Frobisher gets a prostitute for Terry to spend time with in the back of a limo and snort cocaine, like he used to. After, Terry says this is what he needed in order to understand him. Frobisher says this is where he sat to make his decision. He finds clarity in the dark. Terry asks how dark Frobisher gets. Frobisher asks Terry how far would you go if your money, your everything would be taken away from you? Then what would you do if a man said he could do something to take away the problem, with nothing in return? Terry does not know and asks what could the man do for you? Frobisher says that's the darkest part of what went through his mind. Terry asks what exactly they are talking about here.
Patty tells Tom to avoid contact with Ellen because she disobeyed her when she approached Tessa. Patty told her not to do that. Patty says she let her guard down and never should have let Ellen back in. Tom says Ellen was covering for him. He is the one who approached Tessa because he was impatient. Ellen tried to salvage what he did and steer Tessa back to them. Patty says so the two of you strategized behind my back and lied to me? Tom says yes he lied; has she ever lied to him? Patty says she has work to do. Tom said he made a judgment call and did what he had to do. He is done apologizing and walks out.
Patty tells Alex to bring her some new cases, anything she is passionate about.
Marilyn comes back later to see Lenny and lies that Joe now knows Tessa is his daughter. She thinks Louis should have told Joe a long time ago, though. Lenny says Joe could not have handled it then.

Ellen says she does not know what she expected. He tells Ellen that he now understands her relationship with Patty. He says you both hate bullies. He noticed it with Ellen's dad because he was a bully with her, her mom, and her sister. He could see it, but Ellen couldn't do anything about it. So, now she is a lawyer. David tells her that if she wants to go back to work with Patty, then go. Otherwise move on, really move on. Ellen thanks him and apologizes for not thinking about him as much lately. He says that's good. She has not forgotten him and misses him. She looks back, but he is gone.
Tessa goes to the bank in Antigua.
Patty and Alex discuss the Tobin case, Tessa, the bank routing numbers, and the charity. Patty silently remembers the conversation she had with Ellen about Alex: Ellen said Alex is smart, ambitious, dedicated, and will fit right in, but she does not like her. Suddenly, Patty tells Alex she is sorry, but this is not working out. Alex is shocked and asks if Patty is firing her. Patty says it's nothing personal and to get her things and leave.
Tessa returns to the hotel room and calls out for Malcolm, saying she has the document and asks why was he not waiting in the car. Then she finds him dead on the balcony. She turns around and there is a man pointing a gun at her. She begs him not to kill her. The man shoots Tessa in the head and takes the papers from her purse.
Horatio Emmanuel is sitting with the man who just killed Malcolm and Tessa, and he calls Joe to tell him he was right to be suspicious of Tessa. He says she came back to Antigua, but all is well now. Joe thanks him and hangs up. Joe tells his mom that the money is safe. Marilyn tries to comfort Joe, saying that it's not his fault, that his father had a child with Danielle so this was Louis' mistake. She tells Joe that he did this to protect his child and his family, to protect their future, that he really had no choice. Joe listens to her, but he looks genuinely upset about what just happened.
