Episode Recap

The preparations for Ellen and David's upcoming wedding are ongoing. At their apartment, Ellen urges David to sample the cakes on the table. David obliges, but leaves Ellen to choose.

All seems to be well at the Hewes household as Michael has come home. During breakfast, Patty watches TV in the kitchen while Phil reads the morning paper and Michael eats his meal before running off to school.

At a car wash, Larry Popler is being scolded by his boss for dinging a Cadillac he earlier worked on. Even as he pointed that his daughter was his current boss' prom date, Larry gets fired from his car wash job. Later, Popler meets with Frobisher and demands for compensation as per the deal they previously made.

At Hewes & Associates, Ellen has a new assistant, who seems to be incompetent from the get-go as he forgets to cancel Ellen's meeting with her parents. Ellen's mom and dad soon arrive at the office, informing her about her dad hitting a crossing guard with his car. They are planning to visit the woman at the hospital, but Ellen advises against it. Much later, Ellen fires her new assistant since according to Tom, Patty doesn't like him. Also, her assistant has made several mistakes during the day, which left Ellen with not much choice but to let him go.

At a meeting between Popler, Ellen, and Patty, Patty tells Larry that they might have to accept a settlement offer from Frobisher as little as $175 million. As it turns out, Larry is leaking information from Hewes' camp to Arthur, who becomes more confident about his upcoming deposition. After learning that Arthur has an inside man that he's agreed to pay off, Ray goes on a tirade about how Frobisher can be sent to jail for his actions.

Later, Ray meets Patty at the dog park and presents an offer of $175 million, which only proves to Patty that Larry has been feeding information to Frobisher. When she meets with her clients, Patty relates to them that with their key witness' absence, their case is not looking all too well. Worried with his standing, Popler pesters Frobisher about giving him some money at that instant, but Arthur just ignores him. Frustrated, Larry ends up threatening Arthur.

The next day, Ellen gives more advice to her father on how to present himself during his deposition and how things will turn out better for him if he sticks to the facts of the accident.

In an open field property, Arthur confronts Greg's handler and questions him about the situation with Greg. Greg's handler just tells him to ask Ray about it.

At the office, Ellen tells Patty that she and Tom would like to pursue George Moore, an SEC commissioner who previously did investigations on Frobisher. She also asks for some time off the office to attend to her father's civil case.

Later, Patty visits Popler at his home and presents the $175 million settlement offer. She then reveals that Larry is busted for leaking information to the other camp and assures him that she'll know if indeed Larry is taking bribes from Frobisher. At a much later meeting between Arthur and Larry at the open field, the two apologize to each for the harsh words exchanged earlier, and Frobisher promises to take care of Popler's family as soon as the trial's over.

During the deposition of Ellen's dad, he wishes to answer truthfully and admit to having an argument with his wife while driving, but Ellen strongly advises against it. As it turns out, Ellen's father went with his initial instinct and recounted the whole truth. Now, they are being sued for one million dollars and not just the hospital bills.

Ellen and Tom arrive at a restaurant to meet with George Moore, who turns out to be Greg's handler.

Later, Arthur calls Larry to assure him that Greg is fine. When they hang up, Larry is seen in Patty's kitchen and back to her fold.

In the flash forwards, Nye asks Ellen to recount the last time she saw David. According to Ellen, she and David had another heated argument about her job with Patty after a person involved in the case got killed. David made an ultimatum for Ellen to choose between her job and her relationship with him. When she hesitated, David ended their engagement.

Ellen is also seen for the first time in court while they wait for Patty to show up. She pleads not guilty, and the judge sets the bail at $1.5 million. After the hearing, the authorities prepare to transport Ellen to Rikers Island. Her mom and dad worry about the source of the bail money for their daughter.

In the final flash forward, after her fight with David, Ellen removes her ring and lays it on the table. David is alone in the apartment and is leaving an apologetic voice mail message when someone knocks on the door. David opens the door and the scene where David lies bloody in the bathtub is shown again.
