I initially thought that Patty may have had Naomi Walling killed, in an attempt to make it certain that she could go up against Ellen in court by filing a wrongful death suit against McClaren. Now I'm more inclined that Helmut Torben did it. He was responsible for the information Fund 23 was using to make its illegal trades, so maybe he had Naomi killed because she blew the cover on the dealings. He's motivations are very uncertain at the moment though, considering this doesn't really explain why he is McClaren.org's biggest financial donor, so we'll have to wait and see.
And yes, I'm fairly certain Patty trid to have Ellen killed.
