Damages

just a little joke in my headline there. i couldn't help but make a crack, because is it just me or does anyone else think glenn close has an issue with animals? this is like the third film i've seen her in where she's either killed an animal or is attempting to. (fatal attraction, 101 dalmations, now damages). just thought it was funny. that being said, ok...i'm a little aggravated. when i saw the previews for this show i was thinking "alright! glenn playing a strong willed, fearless, ball busting, law abiding, justice seeking, kick a** career woman"...i was so hoping to see her play a "good guy" for a change...so it is to my disappointment to see her as a manipulating, conspiracy involved possible murderer. if she likes Ellen so much, why is she ruining her life and manipulating her? i could punch her right in the face. i feel bad for katie because even though she's practically giving everyone what they want, she's going to wind up dead anyway. (even though she's keeping secrets about greg, i change my mind. she doesn't deserve to die. the scene where the guy was following her with her headphones on, if she wouldn't have noticed him and would've died, i figured she was stupid enough to deserve to be knocked off.) i can't stand tom because he's an a** kissing snake, and poor Ellen. all she wants to do is advance in a successful career, and what does she get for it? a dead fiance and a murder frame...the scene of ellen in the police station is getting kind of old. ok we get it, she was framed and got picked up, when know she's there. now bring in her friend lawyer and get her out of there. i'd like to see more about the "now" as well as the "6 months earlier". we'll see what next week brings.

After watching the pilot I was curious to see where exactly this show was heading and I have to admit I'm loving every second.



I can hardly wait to find out why Ellen was running out of her apartment covered in blood. Not to give away any spoilers, we know who the dead body is but we have no idea why or how everything turned out so bad.



I love the fact that there aren't any true bad guys or true good guys on this show and this episode shows the epitome of that. On the one hand Patty Hewes seems devious, manipulating, and heartless and then we see her almost come to tears when it comes to the issues she's having with her son. Then we have Arthur Frobisher who everyone thought was the bad guy going into the show but now it seems like he's as much a "good guy" as anyone else on the show (if you can call anyone on this show "a good guy") although possibly with some serious character flaws.



Great episode - can't wait until next week!

The episode was very good except for one thing. I only had one problem with the script. When Frobisher speaks to the guy in the restaurant about dealing with Patty, he reminds him that they were at Davos together. Then he unnecessarily reminded the man what Davos was, the meeting about international economy. Surely if the man went to Davos he knew what he went for. To remind him was to extremely insult him. If the clarification was for the audience, it was an unnecessary intrusion. Anyone who went to Davos would not need to be reminded why they went.
