Dan, a long-time resident of a small town in Ontario, and bartender at a local bar, suddenly finds himself entered into the race for the position of mayor after making an offhand remark to impress his ex-girlfriend. He may not have what it takes to compete, but once in the race for mayor, Dan gives it his all.

The series was nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award in the category of "Performance by an Ensemble" for the first season in 2010. It was also nominated for a Gemini in the category of "Best Comedy Program" for the first season in 2010.

Season 2 saw the show move to Sunday nights at 7:30 p.m.; it began on June 5, 2011.

This show humour is like a sweet slow dance with a really hot girl; you can't get enough, and you sad when it ends. True Canadian houmor. Dan for Mayor WOW. The show is not the fast pace slapstick of The Three Stooges. Or is it the Black houmor of Our English Cousin's But that truly Canadian compromise taking the best form all thank God for season two. It's a shame C.S.I.S. allows US media consultant across the Canadian border; or this would be a great export Like a few other's. I can't wait too see season two. I Hope they have the courage to real chances. I would love to see the former Primer Minster Jean Chrétien punch Dan out. Dan Accidentally starting a war with the US after finding a old treaty form 1814 war. To the writers please don't worry about selling to the greater intellect of our southern nabours' there would be to many missed opportunity for great laughs.moreless
