    • TRIVIA (2)

      • Anita: [Dan] did save the rake factory. And this new slogan...
Alan: I'm getting my own slogan too... "Change you can believe in!"
Anita: But you're the status quo.
Alan: Status quo you can believe in!

"Change You Can Believe In" was the campaign slogan of Barack Obama and the Democratic Party in the 2008 US Presidential elections.

      • (discussing whether his moustache makes him look gay)
Mike: I thought it was more of a cop moustache?
Claire: Cowboy, cop... they're all part of The Village People.

The Village People were a musical group in the late '70s and early '80s, consisting of five members who dressed as a motorcycle cop, a cowboy, an Indian chief, a construction worker, a military man, and a leather-clad biker. They were icons in gay culture in the early '80s, and had many disco hits.

    • QUOTES (7)

      • Alan: There's a city council meeting coming up, and I'd like you to attend.
Jeff: Ah, I get it... an 'address the troops' kind of thing.
Alan: No, to drop out of the race.
Dan: Oh! And if I drop out of the race, ...how do I get to be mayor?
        Alan: You don't.
Dan: Right. ...Okay, pretend, for a moment, that I'm not following this.

      • Claire: Dan shouldn't assume he's going to be mayor. I checked the bylaws; Dan could lose.
        Mike: To Bud? He's dead.

      • Jeff: Are you sure you're ready for this? A lot of responsibility comes with that necklace.
        Dan: Necklace?
Jeff: You know, like mayors wear on TV.
Dan: It's called the Chain of Office. I saw it on the internet... it comes up when you do a search for chains... and such.

      • Dan: A dead guy's running attack ads against me. That's kind of in poor taste!

      • Brianna: Oh, you're running for mayor? That's terrific!
Dan: Really? I mean, yes, it is.
Jeff: So, can we count on your support?
Brianna: No, I was just being polite.

      • Alan: Mike here is the guy who figured out that if Bud wins, we win.
Mike: To be fair, it was actually my fiancée Claire who figured it out, which is kind of ironic.
        Anita: Oh, how so?
Mike: Well, she used to date Dan.
        Anita: Oh.
Mike: Yeah, Claire has horrible taste in men.

      • (at the City Council meeting)
Alan: On a personal note, it is unfortunate that I'm forced to run under Bud Calgrove's name, but seeing as my opponent refuses to do the right thing and step aside... I have no choice.
