  • This is it! and the judges cop out once again!

Yes, once again, an episode ends in a tie. Big surprise. Popularity contests unite.

I was a little disappointed in the finale. If I could just have viewed this show alone and ignored the last few weeks of episodes, I might have liked it better. Flashbacks showing the contestant’s road to the finale are totally appropriate for the finale episode and yet, I’m sick of them already because it seems like that’s all they’ve done to fill in their 90 minute time slot lately. Why? On to the dancing…I hated both of the routines to the Stevie Wonder song. I found them both flat and boring though the dancing by both competitors was superb. I enjoyed both of the repeat performances. But the freestyle…I don’t care for them dancing a freestyle dance in this competition. I’d rather they dance ballroom. I liked the intricate footwork in Emmit’s routine but I could have done without the break dancing type moves of Mario’s that reminded me of the 80s along with both songs. Guess that shows my age…

Guess the votes will speak to the popularity of the contestants or the biggest fan base. So much for competition.moreless
  • Another fabulous night of dancing!

Mario and Karina...wow - just sensational! All three of their dances were phenomenal tonight. They really want to win. You can definately see it. My favorite was the freestyle dance to \\\"It Takes Two\\\" - really awesome!!

They most certainly danced better than Emmit and Cheryl in the first dance too where both couples danced to the same song. Thought Emmit and Cheryl got a better score for that dance, I think Mario and Karina had a much more entertaining routine.

Cheryl is a fantastic dancer though, and I don\\\'t want to take anything away from her. I just find that Emmit is somewhat boring to watch. He is a good dancer, but no fun.

I have a theory that male celebrities have an advantage over the female celebrities on this show. If you think about it - of course the professional partner is going to be a better dancer than the celebrity and female dancers are much more entertaining to watch and they do most of the dancing anyway. So of course when the female celebrites come out and aren\\\'t as great as the professionals then the male celebrities have that advantage. Just an observation.

But this episode was great! All the routines were very enjoyable.moreless
  • An exciting season finale. It was perhaps more exciting than the last season because in this case, you really are holding your breath to see who was going to win. It could go either way.moreless

Emmitt did the first dance of the season (freestyle) that I considered might be better than Mario's. Not to my surprise, I liked Mario's better. There were a lot of tricky things involved--Emmitt had that stuff too--but I could tell that Mario really had to do what he could to top Emmitt. The thing I like most about Emmitt is his "can-do" attitude, and his smile. He's always having a blast. He is very charming, and classy. He's really doing something totally foreign to him, and I applaud him for doing something so far out of his comfort zone. But then, Mario has something that Emmitt lacks. He and Karina make a beautiful couple, with great chemistry. He's got the timeless look, the perfect dark-haired stud for any romantic movie. But the thing he has most over Emmitt is he is just a natural dancer, a natural entertainer. Their foxtrot and rumba were both beautifully done. Sorry, to show my bias, but it's true. It seems that Mario can do it all. Let's keep our fingers crossed!!!moreless

    • Judges' Comments for Emmitt's Samba

Len: At my age, it takes a lot to get me excited. And honestly, I'm like a dog with two tails. I love your dancing, Emmitt. You're so cool and calm and I'm hoping to see a great final and that did not disappoint me in any way.

Bruno: You are blessed with such charm and charisma. You drive people crazy just with a twinkle of your eye. You've got the twinkle in your toes to go with it. What a way to start this incredible final!

Carrie Ann: I gotta say, okay, the top of your routine, when you came down the stairs - I thought, 'uh oh, we might not be heading into a good place'. Because it wasn't filled with that excitement that we normally have. But I was wrong! You blew us away once again. You came out here, what's so great about you is that you are the everyday man who became a dancer before our very eyes!

      Judges' Comments for Mario's Samba

Carrie Ann: Wooo, okay. You guys are certainly not making it easy for us at all. This is gonna be such a tough night for us to judge. You guys are impeccable. What I have to say about this one is that for the first time, I really saw you actually enjoy yourself completely. You rose to a new level tonight, normally it's Emmitt who wows the crowd. But there was something really special out there - not to mention, every step was perfect!

Len: It was clean, it was precise, it had good rhythm. I can't believe the standards. You messed up the running promenades, you got on the wrong foot. So, that was all I - cut off by crowd booing

Bruno: Well, I thought that was scintillating. You really, as Carrie Ann said, you took over the dance floor, you had a great time, you brought the audience with you. That was a very complicated, technical routine. You took a great chance, coming in the final and going for it with such a difficult routine. Well done!
