  • Finally they cut Ian some slack

Two dances from each contestant this week. I hope they finally cut Billy ray some slack & let hm go home. His attitude in rehearsals is awful. Poor Karina! I know she's not a quitter, but he has laready decided they are going home. Finally the judges saw what they wanted to see from Ian. I thought his dances were great. I hope he gets to stay.

As always I loved Joey. This year is really hard for me, because I totally love Laila, Joey, & Appollo & have a hard time knowing who to root for. I just loved Joey & Kym's jive. it was so much fun & he fianlly got his triple 10's!moreless
  • Contestants chose from two dance styles - Ballroom and Latin. Most were great but the same ones disappointed me.

I came into this show late this season, but what I have seen has been pretty impressive. Tonight we saw a change in the leaders - Ian, Joey, and John seemed to be putting a little extra into their performances tonight, and were justly rewarded. Billy Ray, on the other hand, has demonstrated once again that he is not interested in improving, and no longer wants to be in this competition. His performances tonight clearly said "Get me out of this." I just wish people would listen. I feel badly for his partner. She looks great and enjoys what she does, and she's trying so hard to make him look good. Unfortunately it's not working.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (0)

  • QUOTES (9)

    • Tom Bergeron: Hey, here's an interesting point. If you add Apolo and Julianne's ages together and then double it - they're still younger than Len!

    • (Judges' comments on Billy Ray and Karina's Waltz)
Bruno Tonioli: Well, to call that Waltz unconventional would be an understatement. Because most of the time, it was like Vanna White in the Wheel of Fortune. Talk about having the women do all the work - those times are gone! You've gotta work at it.
Carrie Ann Inaba: OK, your charisma is contagious as usual. It's more than just having Karina do a movement and you saying, "Good job!" But this one wasn't so good tonight. There wasn't enough content.
Len Goodman: What I like about you, Billy Ray, is there's always an expectation when you're coming out. You bring fun and enjoyment - not only to me, but I'm sure to millions of people. The trouble was there was only one recognizable step, which is called the Shadow Bottafogas and that's a Samba step! But I love you and I hope you're back because I do think you're great.

    • (During their rehearsals)
Karina Smirnoff: Learning one dance was nearly impossible. Two - we might need a miracle. Left leg in on two!
Billy Ray Cyrus: Left leg, in on two?
Karina Smirnoff: I'd rather have you dance everything on the balls of your feet than on your heels.
      Billy Ray Cyrus: That's why I'm a heel-billy!
Karina Smirnoff: Billy Ray would like to showcase me in the beginning of the Waltz, which is really out of the ordinary for the show.
Billy Ray Cyrus: What? Are you afraid the judges ain't gonna like it? That's already happened. Are you afraid they're going to crucify me? That's already happened!
Karina Smirnoff: Sounds like you are giving up on this competition.
Billy Ray Cyrus: No! I want to win!
Karina Smirnoff: Then you need to start shaking your booty.
Billy Ray Cyrus: I like it.
Karina Smirnoff: OK, well let's try to learn it.
      Billy Ray Cyrus: Oh crap.

    • (During their rehearsals)
Apolo Anton Ohno: Last week, we tied for first with Laila and Maksim. This week, we're learning two new individual dances. This is where the strongest are going to separate from the rest of the pack.
Julianne Hough: Apolo picks up the dances really quickly, which is good. But it's perfecting them that takes forever.
Apolo Anton Ohno: This week, I want the top spot all to myself!

    • (Some comments during their rehearsal)
John Ratzenberger: So I guess to stay out of the bottom two, we've gotta practice.
Edyta Sliwinska: Yeah, it helps. This week we have the Foxtrot and the Rumba. The Rumba is about the man and woman. Because of the obvious age difference, we're not going to get so far into it - we will focus on technique. Some of the moves in Rumba are very sexy.
(Edyta proceeds to extend her leg up near John's head)
John Ratzenberber: How fast is this gonna go?
Edyta Sliwinska: John is old enough to be my father, so it might be a little bit awkward. But watch out everyone! This week, the ruptured duck just might turn into the elegant swan.

    • (Judges' comments on Laila and Maksim's Quickstep)
Len Goodman: Well, I tell you what. The heat's on tonight and you've turned the gas up! It had a lightness and a fluidity. Just occasionally, your posture wasn't quite what I would like, but really great quickstep. Good job from you both.
Bruno Tonioli: I think you really rised to the challenge tonight. You have opened the door to ballroom heaven. It will be very difficult now for everyone to rise to that standard, that was amazing!
Carrie Ann Inaba: I've given you critiques about your hands and this and that. Little things. But tonight, Momma says, "Knock you out!" You really brought it!

    • (Some comments during their rehearsals)
Laila Ali: I definitely don't feel like I'm in a great position being the only female against a whole bunch of guys. This competition was already tough, it almost seems impossible to do two dances and actually do them well.
      Maksim Chmerkovskiy: Okay, let's go!
Laila Ali: You've never done a season where you did two dances, right?
      Maksim Chmerkovskiy: Right.
Laila Ali: You got some advice from those that have?
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: What? I don't need no advice.
Laila Ali: There's no time for arguing or fussing, cause the most important thing is that I get these dances.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: The most important thing to remember about Samba is it's one, two, three. If Joey Fatone can do it, you can do it too! No, no, no!
Laila Ali: Why you gotta be so mean?
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: Punch me four times.
Laila Ali: Don't start with the dumb analogies! See, you're mixing me up!
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: I think Laila has more than enough potential to win this competition.
      Laila Ali: Aww, Maksim Shmushkovski.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: You can't even say my name!
      Laila Ali: Most people can't.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: I know, I know.
Laila Ali: Two dances means two rounds for me to knock one of these boys out of the competition.

    • Samantha Harris: Do you realize that when you combine the two of your ages, you're still younger than half of the competition?
Julianne Hough: Eighteen and twenty five? Yeah!
Samantha Harris: Do you think that your youth will be an advantage for you?
Julianne Hough: We hope so! Hopefully our youth and all of our fresh -
Apolo Anton Ohno: Energy! Creativity. It's very hard choreography.
Samantha Harris: You did a lot of tricks tonight.
Apolo Anton Ohno: It turned out well, so we're real happy. I just want to see more consistency in the judging.

    • (On his expectations for the dances)
Len Goodman: Well, you know, we appreciate how much hard work you've had to put in learning two new dances in one week. Against that, you've had now two and half months learning to dance, learning routines, learning choreography. So our expectation isn't that the standard is gonna fall, our expectation is that things are gonna go up. Tonight is a challenge and you know, the winners in life are the ones who can take up a challenge and come through it. And I think you're all winners - good luck to you all!
