  • Quotes

    • (During Laila and Maksim's rehearsals)
Laila Ali: It's time for new dances, new excitement in order for us to get that sixty. I think the Quickstep is the best ballroom dance for us because it's high energy and we had a good time doing it.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: I couldn't agree with you more.
Laila Ali: The semi finals means that there's a lot of pressure on us.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: I'm hoping for perfection this week. I really want it. You're being stubborn.
Laila Ali: I'm not being stubborn Max, I'm not thinking about my arm, I'm thinking about the steps. I think you should have an idea of what I can do.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: And I think you should have an idea of how I teach.
Laila Ali: I do. And that's why I'm trying to ignore your attitude.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: I don't have an attitude!
Laila Ali: Yes, you do! I'm done for the day. I think the pressure of being in the semi finals is getting to us. Now is the time to invite him to my house, have a barbecue. Wait, Max, you're burning the chicken!
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: That is not true.
Laila Ali: You're supposed to be watching it.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: I am watching it.
Laila Ali: Oh, that's okay, you stick to dancing.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: During this season, we became more than just dancing partners, I've become part of Laila's life.
Laila Ali: We can never feel safe. Everyone who's left in this competition can take home the trophy. But none of that matters until it's the last one left standing. And I'm gonna make sure that's me.

    • (Some of the Judges comments to Joey Fatone after his Jive)
Len Goodman: You've got something that everyone's got, but yours is much bigger... Personality! If you're not in the final, this show will be missing a great dancer. You should be in the final
Bruno Tonioli: You've got more tricks than Houdini.
Carrie Ann Inaba: That was fantastic.

    • (During Ian and Cheryl's rehearsal)
Ian Ziering: Our fans have given us a shot at the finals and to make sure we get there, we brought in a professional to get us in a winning mindset.
Mike Maffia: Share with me what it feels like.
Ian Ziering: Mike forced me to confront my demons. Being an actor, my emotions are very close to the surface.
Mike Maffia: The real Ian has to come out in order for you to go to the finals.
Cheryl Burke: The life coach turned out to be a huge help. A lot of the things he said were right on the money. It's about entertaining and being a real person, your true self. And you have to let that out more.
Ian Ziering: It's not the smile, it's the enjoyment of the dance. Thanks for getting me this far, Cheryl.
Cheryl Burke: You got yourself this far.
Ian Ziering: We've chosen the Jive and the Tango. And I am going to sell it.
Cheryl Burke: I feel like I'm dancing with a whole new Ian. What's going on?
Ian Ziering: This week, you're going to see a whole new Ian Ziering on the dance floor.

    • (Some of the Judges comments to Laila Ali's after her Cha Cha)
Len Goodman: It had far more content than I've seen in the past. You won me over with the butterfly.
Bruno Tonioli: There is no doubt, you are a knockout.
Carrie Ann Inaba: Your technique really shined through.

    • (Some of the Judges comments to Ian Ziering's after his Jive)
Len Goodman: You've just gotta wear the wig every week.
Bruno Tonioli: I don't know if you've based yourself on Sanjaya or Liberace, but somehow, it works.
Carrie Ann Inaba: Hallelujah! Finally, Ian!

    • (During Apolo and Julianne's practice)
Apolo Anton Ohno: For me as a competitive athlete, I see that chance, that opportunity, that potential that we could actually go all the way - I'm gonna go for it!
Julianne Hough: One, two, three, four! Let's go!
Apolo Anton Ohno: Now we're in the semi finals, looking toward the finals. I am a totally different dancer now and we want to show it. Len has yet to give us a ten on the ballroom dances - we want one this week.
Julianne Hough: Sharp, it's really sharp.
Apolo Anton Ohno: Julianne has really been on me, everything is about the details. OK, was that better?
Julianne Hough: I hate you! Why don't you do it like this every time?
Apolo Anton Ohno: My personality has always been about reaching for the impossible, even though the competition has become really intense, that's what motivates me. I want to be the first person to get six tens in one night.

    • (Some of the Judges comments to Apolo Anton Ohno after his Cha Cha)
Len Goodman: For me, it was too raunchy.
Bruno Tonioli: You are like a shot of adrenaline.
Carrie Ann Inaba: That was the sexiest Cha Cha I think I've ever seen. I felt dirty watching it.

    • (Some of the Judges comments to Joey Fatone after his foxtrot)
Len Goodman: It's called American Smooth, and that was so smooth.
Bruno Tonioli: This was a Fox Trot with perfect Hollywood credentials. I was absolutely enchanted.
Carrie Ann Inaba: You do have what it takes to win this competition. You won the Ballroom Round, hands down.

    • (Judges comments to Laila Ali after her Quickstep)
Carrie Ann Inaba: Laila, you have it the toughest of this competition. What you do is not only do you hold your own, but you bring a whole different sort of vibe to your dancing that I find so unique. It's so sophisticated, so elegant. Good job!
Bruno Tonioli: What have we got tonight? We've got Cleopatra Ali, the jewel of the Nile. Superbly fantastic, clearly a winner!
Len Goodman: It was so light, it had great movement. It was a little bit more basic than what we saw from Apolo but in its own way, it was equally as good.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: (interrupting Len) Basic is much harder to do.
Len Goodman: Well, I know that son! My job is to talk. Your job is to listen. It's not hard, is it?
Laila Ali: I'm sorry for both of us.
Len Goodman: What I'm saying is, it was great.

    • (Some of the Judges comments to Ian Ziering after his Tango)
Len Goodman:That was your best dance! I loved it!
Bruno Tonioli: The demon inside is starting to come out. If you make it to the finals... you have to be a little bit cleaner in the placement of your feet.
Carrie Ann Inaba: When you travel, you've gotta travel like you mean you're going somewhere, not just put your foot there.

    • (Judges comments to Apolo Anton Ohno after his Quickstep)
Tom Bergeron: OK, let's find out what side of the paddles they woke up on! Len?
Len Goodman: You know, I really expect this to be a really good Quickstep and I've gotta say, it was fantastic. It was fast, it had great mixture of speed and control. You maintained body. I think you've got Restless Leg Syndrome - your feet are so fast! You could fly across the floor, you had great movement - it was right there.
Bruno Tonioli: Well, well, well. The Apolo express is off! And you've taken America with you! I can't believe I agree with Len, but your footwork is incredible. Fantastic!
Carrie Ann Inaba: Thank you for setting the standard way high for the semi-finals tonight because I think everybody else is thinking, 'Oh, I better be on my game tonight!' Good job!
