  • The show heats up! Now, it's anyone's guess who goes...

This episode was a very good episode to watch. The first episodes are good because there's more people to vote for, but when there's only a few left to go, the show gets much better. Now, it's hard to pick which one will go because they're all so good. That, and all the stars are dancing something different. I like that most of all. I felt bad because Melissa got hurt and wasn't able to dance. Her dance looked good, and she shouldn't have gotten a score of 21. The team dances were cool. Team Mambo was scary towards the end, but Team Tango was amazing! I loved it!moreless

Unfortunately, the night started off, on somber note, with news, Melissa Rycroft could not perform, due to a recurring rib injury; she suffered from the previous week. Lil'Kim & Derek Hough, dancing the Pasa Doble, scored a 28 for first place. From Len, Carrie Ann & Bruno's comments, I expected a perfect score of 30. But Len & Carrie Ann scored them a 9 & Bruno scored them a 10. Tying for second place was Gilles Marini & Cheryl Burke, performing the Lindy Hop, scoring a 27. They received a 9 from all three judges. And Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas, performing the Samba, scored a 27. From the comments, I expected Carrie Ann's score would be a10 but it was a 9. Len scored them a 7 and Bruno scored them an 8. Chuck Wicks & Julianne Hough, performing the Cha-cha, scored a 26. From the judges' comments, I scored them 8 for each judge but Len & Carrie Ann scored them 9. Bruno scored them 8. Ty Murray & Chelsie Hightower, dancing the Salsa, scored a 24. Carrie Ann's comments suggested a 10 but gave them a 9. Bruno gave them an 8. Len gave them a 7 but his comment was out of line. He said: "You have come along way and remarkable, lasted to this point, but it was time he hit the trail." Even Carrie Ann booed him. Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani were to perform the Jive. The judges had to score them on their last practise in the studio. All the judges agreed, it did not have the flare of a live performance. They scored them 7 each for 24. The last performance was the Team Dance. Team Mambo consisted of Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani, Chuck Wicks & Julianne Hough and Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas. Melissa was still unable to dance so Lacey Schwimmer was Tony's partner to keep the team. Len praised the professionalism of Lacey, on being able to step in at the last minute, to learn the routine and perform it. Unfortunately, they couldn't score it. Looking for strong individual routines by the Stars as well as synchronization as a team. Carrie Ann & Len scored them an 8 and Bruno scored them a 9, for total of 25. Team Tango consisted of Ty Murray & Chelsie Hightower, Lil'Kim & Derek Hough and Gilles Marini & Cheryl Burke. They were spectacular in their individual performances as well as the team synchronization. Comments suggested Carrie Ann would score it a 10 but scored it a 9. Len scored a 9 and told Ty Murray he had fully redeemed himself and was back in the competition. Bruno scored it a 10. Their total was 28. I felt it was a 30.moreless
  • Love the team dances!

I love when Dancing with the Stars gets to this stage of competition.

I like the addition of the team dances for entertainment, but I'm not sure I like that they get scored on it. They were the most fun to watch, Team Mambo in particular, but why should they all get scored the same when some are doing better than others? Team Tango seemed weird to me, just because the tango seems like a strange pick to do as a team dance. Kind of like Team Waltz would be.

It'll be interesting to see who goes home. I like them all and I sure can't decide!moreless

This week, there would be another dance the stars have not done before from week 1-6, as well as the group dance. There are some who dislike this part, but for me, it made a big difference last season.

OK, the show started badly. When I saw Tony descend the stairs alone, my heart sank. I am glad that Melissa can come back. I hope they have the chance.

Gilles and Cheryl began the night with a Lindy Hop. It was lively, but just a bit off for me. And no, it was not the hair. I think their score was deserved.

Lil Kim and Derek came out with a dynamic Paso Doble. It reminded me of their strong Argentine
Tango. They got the best score of the night.

Chuck and Julianne had a hot cha cha cha. I thought Chuck's hips could have moved more, but the judges liked it. As everyone has said, he is hitting his stride at the right time. They are two points out of first place.

Shawn and Mark did a samba. It was not my favorite. I hate to criticize, but Shawn is not moving fast enough. Like Len said, by this time, you have to be great, not merely good. They are still tied with Gilles and Cheryl for second place.

I was heartsick to see Tony and Melissa's practice dance. If they had be able to perform, it would have been spectacular. Unfortunately, they are in last place.

Ty and Chelsie rounded out the evening with a salsa. No, he is not the best dancer, but he tried really hard. This pair got the next to lowest score.

The team dances were next. First up, Tony and Melissa's replacement Lacey, Shawn and Mark with Chuck and Juilanne made up Team Mambo, the first, second and third place couples from last week. We could not count Tony's dance, but we did see him team up with Lacey. She danced with Mark on one of the results shows earlier this season and were so hot, they nearly set my TV on fire. Tony and Lacey did not disappoint. She was like any pro who can learn a dance very quickly.

Shawn and Mark were good. I wish she had brought that kind of movement to her samba.

Chuck and Julianne also moved well.

Even with four pros, I thought they were a bit out of sync as a group in the end. That was a killer.
Everyone may have been talking about the guys stripping down at the end of the routine. It was a shock and very funny.

Winding up the week were Lil Kim and Derek, Gilles and Cheryl, Ty and Chelsie as Team Tango. I loved the start when the three stars danced together. Did I mention that Gilles and Ty had their shirts off? Shy Ty will not bring attention to himself, but he is the athlete with a strong core and killer abs.

Lil Kim and Derek began the dancing with a strong tango. It reminded me of the last time they were in first place. I do not know what the mistake was that the judges were talking about, but they saw it.

Ty and Chelsie came next. It was a strong dance, perhaps one of Ty's best, but I felt Ty's feet were not moving as they should at times.

Gilles and Cheryl knocked it out of the park. I have no idea why Len said that Gilles steps were awful.

Like last year, this dance will make or break someone. The final part was as good as it could have been. The synchronization was perfect and this is what the group dance is all about. Team Tango deserved getting three points higher than Team Mambo.moreless

    • (After Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke's Lindy Hop) Len Goodman: I've made a list of the things that the French are famous for. French toast, French fries, French kissing, and from today, you can put Lindy Hop on that list!

    • Chuck Wicks: There couldn't be a better time for me to hit my stride and break out of the middle of the pack. So Gilles, watch out. These hips are on fire!

    • Ty Murray: (about his samba shirt) Guys, is this supposed to be this tight?
