I am cheesed to the nth level! My whole family was all set to watch the finals (we were going to let the girls stay up to see it), and it ended up postponed for stupid football!!! At least, if it's On Demand, we can watch it this afternoon on TV; if not, ABC.com has it (I checked) and we can all watch it there.

Last night was the much anticipated Final. They had to perform a never performed dance & the always entertaining Freestyle.

Ricki & Derek: ChaChaCha She wore a short red glitter & fringe dress & she really looks so much thinner now. She really is good & I could find NO fault in her routine. The audience gave her a standing ovation. Len told her it was "a dance deserving of this final". She was given all 9's for 27 pts. Freestyle: She wore a white & black feathered outfit. I enjoyed it but didn't think it was a routine for the record books. Carrie Ann said it was "effortless". Again all 9's for 27 pts & a grand total of 54 pts.

Rob & Cheryl: Waltz I liked her pink gown & gloves. Another standing ovation. I thought it was very elegant with a nice flow. Bruno told him "you were flowing & you were glowing". He too got all 9's for 27 pts. Freestyle: He wore a long tailed tux while she wore a pretty blue flapper style dress to a 20's club theme with a piano prop to set the mood to a jazzy "Hidey, Hidey Ho". I liked this routine better. I still don't think he is the best dancer but the routine was more entertaining. I liked the interlocking arm swing. Bruno called it "brilliant" & Carrie Ann was "blown". He was awarded with his 1st ever perfect score of 30 pts & a grand total of 57 pts which would be the highest total of the night.

Jr & Karina: ChaChaCha She wore odd yellow vertical strips which, you can tell, I was not a fan of! They danced to "Let's Get Loud". He seemed to be back in top form & it was an excellent dance if not quite perfect! He got a standing ovation. Len said, "This wasn't that good." and that he "went off time". He got some pretty low scores of 8, 7 & 9 for the low total of 24 pts. Freestyle: Personally, I thought his Freestyle was more of a mess than his ChaChaCha. I did think his 1st lift flipping Karina all around his head was great but his practiced maneuver looked awkward. They were out of sync at the end too. Carrie Ann told him,"Those lifts were the sickest I've ever seen!". Bruno called it "brilliant". He was awarded a perfect score of 30 pts which tied him for 2nd place with Ricki Lake.

Ricki was excellent as usual, Rob has steadily improved each week peaking at the right time, The Finals & JR although good has faultered, IMO, in the last 2 weeks. His ankle injury didn't help either. However, I'd still like to see him win. I gave him my votes & hope America did too. We Americans do LOVE our heroes. Good luck JR!

I'm looking forward to te Grand Finale tonight. They will each dance 2 more dances. Lady Antebellum will perform. And most importantly the Season 13 Winner will be announced!

THE FINALS!!! The remaining 3 had 4 dances to get through this week on both nights. The first night they each got to do a style they hadn't yet, then the ever-popular Freestyle! The second night they got to revisit their favorite dance of the season (which were scored 30 for 1st, 28 for 2nd & 26 for 3rd); then, after 3rd place elimination, the final 2 had to do an Instant Samba.

Rob Kardashian's first dance was a Waltz. He was "flowing and glowing", as Bruno put it...and that's not far from the truth. He was confident but not cocky. He made a couple of very small slips, but nothing too bad (one I didn't even notice...but it happened RIGHT IN FRONT of the Judges' table...awkward). His freestyle was a '20s/'30s style that started out slow (not in a bad way) and picked up steam until he did an amazing spin with Cheryl horizontal across his shoulders. He got a Perfect 30.

His revisited dance was his tribute to his father from Week 3's "Memorable Year", a Foxtrot to "Fly Me To the Moon". I had simply written that he was "improved" that week; this time he positively floated. It was lovely, but he came in 3rd on that. Since he made the Top 2, he did the Instant Samba (where the Final 2 did like a relay to "Shake Your Bon-bon" by Ricky Martin. Well, that he certainly did! This samba was very similar to his breakthrough Samba last week, and he looked like he was having a blast.

Ricki Lake started with a Cha-Cha. She looked spectacular in a red tasslled dress, and she made those tassles fly! The judges said that she could have been a little sultrier, but no one can fault her steps. Her freestyle started with her bursting through a picture of a Week 1 Her, and you can definitely see the difference. She did some lifts that she would never have considered in previous weeks and fulled them off (although she was a little shaky on the last dismount, but she was spinning horizontally on Derek's shoulders, so I can't really blame her).

She revisited Week 4's Movie Night, doing her "Psycho" Tango. She had gotten a near-perfect score that time, almost impossible to improve upon...but improve she did! She landed in 1st place; but unfortunately, it was not enough to make the Top 2; she was eliminated and ended up in 3rd place.

J.R. Martinez's ankle was better, but I really think that it threw him off a little. His first dance was also a Cha-Cha. I thought he looked a tad careful and awkward, and the judges agreed, giving him the lowest score of the night. However, he really came back in the Freestyle, doing some lifts and moves that were almost impossible to believe! Apparently he wasn't nearly as nervous about the Freestyle as his partner, Karina, was! He was rewarded with a Perfect 30, matching Rob's.

He revisited his "more Lindy Hop than Jive" Week 2 dance, removing the illegal lift (which was done rather cheekily; they started to do it, then he looked at the judges and grinned...but didn't lift) and the Lindy aspects, making it a TRUE Jive, earning him a 2nd place score. His salsa looked (to me) a tad stiff and slow, but the judges loved it.

The musical guests for the Finals was country group Lady Antebellum, who were fabulous! They performed 2 songs: a new one off their latest album, and their huge mega-hit "Need You Now".

The show opened with the Pros dancing, then the eliminated contestants came out dancing, followed by the Final 3. While J.R. and Rob were practicing their Instant Samba, each of the elminiateds came out, one-by-one. Ron/Metta and Elizabetta simply revisited one of their dances. Kristin danced a really fun Jive with Mark. Chynna got to do her infamous "Mission: Impossible" Tango (the one where she totally blanked out) over again, and she was FABULOUS!!! If she had danced like that originally, she would NOT have gotten eliminated as soon as she did! Carson danced to Madonna's "Vogue" with Anna, Val and a few others; fun, but he still can't dance. Chaz danced a Freestyle with Lacey & Lacey's dad to a song that had lines like, "I like 'em chunky; I like 'em big...", an obvious tweak to the judges' comments. Nancy & Tristan once again looked on "the Bright Side of Life" and had a ball. David revisited his Broadway Night "Grease" routine, only backed by the Troupe...then proceeded to "steal" the Mirror Ball Trophy! Hope & Maks revisited their Week 8 quickstep.

Eventually, the results were announced: The Season 13 Champion is...

    ***SPOILER***

Last night was DWTS Season 13 Finale. The guest performers were Lady Antebellum who sang 2 songs. All the previously eliminated Stars were back to perform a dance. Carson still can't dance but he choreographed his own routine which was hysterically funny & included him being dipped by Val Chmerkovskiy. Tom asked if Carson was disappointed he didn't get to dance with Maks & Carson said, "There's always the after party". Very funny!

Ricki & Derek: Tango Repeat from Week 4 Movie theme to "Psycho" Carrie Ann said it was "beyond perfect". She was awarded 1st Place & 30 pts added to Monday nights 54 for a total of 84 pts. Unfortunately, that was not enough to keep her in contention & she ultimately came in 3rd place.

Rob & Cheryl: Fox Trot from Week 3 to "Fly Me to the Moon". Bruno told him that he had "improved beyond expectations". He got 3rd Place & 26 pts + 57=83 pts. He was 2nd to perform during the Instant Samba to Ricky Martin's "Shake Your BonBon". Len stood up & clapped giving him a personal standing ovation. The judges gave him a perfect score of 30 for the final total of 113 pts.

JR & Karina: Jive form Week 2 to "Jump Jive" Bruno called it "fun, fun, fun". He got 2nd Place & 28 pts + 54=82 pts. He performed the Instant Samba 1st. Carrie Ann commented, "Both of you went for it." He also received a perfect 30 pts for the final total of 112 pts.

Finally they announced that JR Martinez was the Season 13 Winner! Just as I had predicted & hoped for all season! So another season is done & in the record books. Season 14 will begin in March. See ya then! Until then, Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year & love to all out there!

I really loved the finale and so glad that JR and Karina won! Their freestyle was amazing. And I'm so happy for Karina winning her first mirror ball trophy.
