    When "Danger Man" was revived in the mid-60s, it had undergone drastic - and very necessary - changes. A look at this all-too-typical segment from the short-lived first series of 1960 shows why. Patrick McGoohan, speaking in a most peculiar accent, is more thick-ear than clever, more boorish than charismatic, and the plotting and characters are drawn from the B-movies of many years earlier. Several good players are appallingly wasted as John Drake grimaces and wisecracks through the dim plot - we note Cyril Raymond, Celia Johnson's dull-stick husband in "Brief Encounter", as the boss of the baddies, and Kathleen Byron, Sister Ruth in "Black Narcissus", as his charming wife.moreless
