  • The Benedict Arnold Story

    8.0
    "Great"
The script of Fort West Point is based on the real life treasonous activities of Benedict Arnold and his attempts to hand over the pivotal fort on the Hudson River to the British. As usual, Daniel and Mingo are inserted into the thick of things and must prevent disaster for the American cause. But there's one little glitch in the episode: the traitorous general is called Hugh Scott here instead of Benedict Arnold. One wonders why the script writer changed the name because the name of the British liaison officer, John Andre, with whom Arnold plotted remains the same. Strange, very strange.

Anyway, whatever the reason, Fort West Point is a good episode with plenty of action and excitement. Kent Smith does well as the traitorous Scott/Arnold although Bill Fletcher is miscast as Andre. Fess Parker and Ed Ames are their usual stalwart selves as they once again save the day from the nasty British.
