Duquesne (to the Butters): Good people, you have just saved the life of Lac Duquesne and his greatful friends.
Yadkin: Israel, so help me, if you don't keep that fool goose away from me I'm gonna cook you both for dinner.
Yadkin: Women! You don't want a man, you want a calendar.
Yadkin (about Duquesne): I always did wanna see if that Frenchie bleeds like a Redcoat.
Duquesne: Well, Daniel Boone. I should have anticipated you.
Yadkin: Let's shoot the lot of them here and now. Duquesne (to Daniel): Your friend is rather bloodthirsty.
Duquesne: It wouldn't please me to be in prison. Yadkin: It'd please a lotta folks I know.
Yadkin: I've had more comfortable boat rides.
Mingo: Breeding doesn't make the man, Daniel. Under any title Duquesne would still be what he is--a renegade.
Daniel (about the Shawnee): They haven't caught us yet. Yadkin: Give 'em time.
Mingo: See you in the morning, Yadkin, if the Shawnee leave anything.
Yadkin: I reckon everybody's gotta die sometime. There ain't no better company around to do it with.
Yadkin: Dan'l, what's it gonna take for you to give this up? Daniel: Duquesne offerin' to give them rifles back.
Daniel (to Duquesne): We better get started. You got some work to do.
Daniel: You've made a bargain, Duquesne. Duquesne: But you're not sure I'm going to keep it. Daniel: I sure ain't.
In this episode we learn that the full name of Cincinnatus is Cincinnatus Cicero Jones.
The script for this episode would be re-cycled and used once again in Season Two's Fifty Rifles.
Duquesne was a familiar name on the frontier. It was the name of the French fort at the forks of the Ohio River, from which they launched their successful ambush of British General Edward Braddock's column in 1755. After it was abandoned the British established Fort Pitt and the village surrounding it, which became known as Pittsburgh. Later a University founded by the Spiritan Fathers in Pittsburgh was also named Duquesne.
