Many Daniel Boone fans consider Requeim for Craw Green to be their favorite episode of the series. Series co-star Ed Ames considered it to be his finest hour on the show. If you're a Fess Parker fan you might lower things somewhat because he only appears in the opening scenes but if you're a fan of Ames then this episode is the bomb.
The storyline concerns Ames' character, Oxford educated half-breed Cherokee Mingo, disguising himself as a white man and traveling to a settlement to investigate the mysterious death of an old friend (the Craw Green from the title). The settlement is controlled by a vicious bigot played superbly by Jeffrey Hunter who would die a mysterious death not too long after this episode aired. As you can probably guess Hunter is responsible for the death of Mingo's old friend but there's an ironic and shocking twist in the climactic scene.
Great episode of a fine series that's not as well remembered today as it should be.
