Purdy (to Mason): How much did you steal, boy? You can trust me.

Cincinnatus: Gideon, you got papers provin' you ain't no slave. Gideon: And there's an awful lotta folks in this territory that don't know how to read.

Gideon (to Mason): My old pappy told me never to argue when I'm lookin' down the muzzle of a gun. Editor's note: With this quote there's a good chance that Gideon is an ancestor of Bret and Bart Maverick.
Purdy: You admit to bein' Solomon? Gideon: Well, I can see there ain't no use to try and outsmart a man like you.
Purdy: You been livin' high off the hog, ain't you? Gideon: Fellow's got to eat to keep up his strength. Purdy: You gonna need it after I get through with you.
Gideon: Give you a hand? Mason: I don't need any help from you. Gideon: Time might come and when it does you'll ask.
Gideon: When I decide to jump you, Mr. Lute, I'm gonna get the job done real fast.
Gideon: Are you worried about me? Mason: Worried about you! I'd put you on an auction block right this minute if I could get the money to pay Lute off.
Gideon (to Mason): A man can't look both ways at once and it stands to reason if he's lookin' back he can't see what he's walkin' into.
Mason: Do you expect me to help you when I get free? Gideon: The idea had crossed my mind.
Purdy (to Mason): Just to show you there's no hard feelin's don't take that horse near Salem. Cause that's where I stole him.
