David: Mr. Boone, if you're ready, I'm sure I am.

David: Why are we stopping? Daniel: To give you a chance to catch your breath. David: Oh no, we'll carry on until you're ready to rest.

David: Now why are we stopping? Daniel: Because I'm ready for a breather and a little food.

Daniel (to David): You gotta get blistered before you can get callouses. Sometimes the hardest way is the easiest way in the long run.

David (about the jerky): I'd heard that you pioneers sometimes eat horsemeat but I didn't know you eat the harness too. It's horrible.

Daniel: It's a good thing some of us still trap otherwise how would you civilized folks buy your furs? Daniel: Touche, Mr. Boone.

David (to Daniel): I don't understand why a man of your obvious capabilities would choose to spend his life out here in the wilderness.

Daniel (after David eats poisoned berries): How do you feel? David: If it's all the same to you I'd like to die. Right here.

Long Knife (to David): You have great magic in your brush.

Daniel: Let's get out of here. David: Won't they follow us if we run? Daniel: They'll kill us if we stay here.
