The real George Rogers Clark was a Revolutionary War hero whose victories in the battles of Kaskaskia and Vincennes over the British and their Indian allies helped secure the Western borders for the Continental Army. Clark most likely knew the real Daniel Boone at one time or another as he settled in Kentucky near present day Winchester after his Army days were over.
Cincinnatus: How'd you like the vittles, Governor? Henry: Delicious, What is it--partridge? Cincinnatus: Raccoon.
Henry (about Elbridge): Who is this besotted lout? Cincinnatus: A deserter. Henry: At least that explains his condition.
Mingo: Any war where freedom's at stake is every man's war.
Israel: How long before the Redcoats get here? Jericho: A long time, Israel. We're gonna go to them.
Clark: You're a fool, Boone. You risk your life pleading to me like a squaw.
Clark: A Tuscarawa needs no handshake.
Henry: Heaven help us if our cause depends on such improvised alliances.
Elbridge (to Daniel): I'm no good to anyone here. Give me a chance to resurrect my soul.
Elbridge (about the river): Now if it were rum I could drink my way across.
Clark: You're a fool, Mr. Elbridge. Elbridge: A fool yes but I may yet die a man.
Clark: From now on to betray you would be a duty not a shame. Daniel: That uniform may be harder to take off than you think.
Clark (about Daniel): You want him to die? Mingo: If any of us die it will be at Stover Station.
Clark (to Daniel): A man half delirious with fever can't be sure of his direction.
Clark: I don't understand. Mingo: Maybe that's your trouble, Major. Maybe that's always been your trouble. You don't understand.
Clark: What made you so sure I'd get you here? Daniel: I figured you never could take off that uniform.
Daniel: The Tuscarawa will miss you. Clark: And I them. They taught me to endure. As you did, Daniel.
