Here's a case of a writer not doing his historical homework when Sgt. Reynolds mentions that if the British had had a few more men like Daniel in General Braddock's army they wouldn't have suffered such a terrible defeat from French and Indian forces in 1756. Had the writer done his homework he would have known that Daniel Boone was present at that battle having served as a wagon driver for British and colonial forces.
Colonel: The gallows will be ready in a few minutes, Boone. I detest waste. Daniel: The idea of swingin' at the end of the rope doesn't make me too happy either.
Colonel: A public retraction of your treason against the Crown is essential. Daniel: And impossible.
Daniel (to Reynolds): That coat'll draw Indians like flies to honey.
Daniel: The lieutenant coming? Reynolds: Just like he was invited for tea.
Daniel (about British troops): Walkin' into the lion's mouth with their eyes wide open.
Drake: Mr. Boone, I had those Indians on the run. Daniel: That's what they wanted you to think.
Daniel (to Drake): I figure if you and me fight Penango instead of each other we might have a chance.
Drake (about Penango): I'll meet him under a flag of truce. Surely, these savages must have some sense of honor. Daniel: Some do. These don't. This is his country and he makes the rules.
Colonel: You're leaving none too soon, Boone. A few more days and British military discipline in this fort would be a shambles.
Penango ranks as the nastiest Native American character in series history.
Season 6 of the show would also feature an episode entitled The Traitor.
