"Great"
When all is going well, and you're just out in the woods with some classmates and two crazy teachers, what could possibly go wrong? Did I forget to mention Danny Fenton is along on this camping trip? Well he is. So the camping trip will be no ordinary camping trip. Ghosts will pop out of nowhere, kids will start to disappear, the usually unhappy girl will be the only happy person. Danny must betray someone in order to save everyone. He must risk his life, and put his best friend Sam's life in danger. Can a wulf be of any help, or will it be all over for the campers, Danny and his friends Sam and Tucker? "Claw of the Wild" is set in summer at Amity Park, which is apparently more grey than anything else. For camp at Lake Eerie is dead, lifeless, and the site of numerous disappearances!
Not too much to say on this one...
I appreciated that this episode did have a different angle and approach than most of Season 3. After several new villains, a lot of Vlad, and so many "Today Amity Park...tomorrow, the world!" plots, it was nice to be in a distant location with faces from the Rogue's Gallery we haven't seen in some time, with more of a horror movie/mystery angle.
Having said that, the absence of Valerie and the fact that, EfaE and D/S aside, no major story arcs from the previous seasons have been developed makes me think that Marmel's departure was both less than pleasant and resulted in a good chunk of the blueprints for Season 3 being shelved.
Outside the "and Tucker" moments, I actually felt the D/S in this episode was very nice, because a lot of it was not overtly romantic. The plan to infiltrate Walker's home base, Sam's work with the wrist laser, Danny's faith in her when fighting came up, and the bit with the collar were all fantastic IMO. I think the collar bit has the potential to read rather weak for people who haven't seen PE at all or haven't seen it in a long time, but for those who follow the continuity, it has the potential to play very well. And I enjoyed the starlit ending with the quiet exit music.
It was great to see Wulf again. I kept thinking of him as all of the monsters appeared and kept thinking he'd have some irrational but empathetic reason to be behind the disappearances, but I thought the way things ultimately played out worked very well. The disappearances themselves were effective, I thought, and created a nice sense of mystery, if not dread and fear for the characters. But feeling something was nice.
And I actually thought Tucker, when he was on-camera, was appropriately handled. He would bring the gadgets, keep track of the thermos, and konk out when the entertainment was star-gazing rather than the latest B-horror flick IMO. And in this particular episode, which did focus in on D/S, I thought his absence from the proceedings was appropriate. But throughout the season, he could have and should have been used more effectively.
And Paulina's concern for Star aside, I really didn't care for how the Casper High crew was used. It was nice that Lancer was closer to the kids than Tetslaff, but come on, Sullivan! This character got spotlighted in TotY and has had several remarkable moments throughout the show's run. Give him a bloody role to play in the proceedings! And why throw away everyone else? And where the hell is Valerie!? While Danny, Sam, Tucker, and the class go on a summer camp in Camp Skull-and-Crossbones, ghostly monsters have been invading the place. Plus the students and counselors are being held hostage by Walker who still wants to capture Danny. The only reason that Walker, his guards and the monsters are loose is because of Wulf's escape rift. What's also interesting is that Danny and Sam learned how to speak Esperanto in order to communicate with Wulf. I like the ending when Danny, Sam and Tucker are enjoying the great outdoors while the others are trapped in a giant tank in suspended animation. Now that Danny set Wulf free, things are turning out to be great. OMG! This eppi had a lot of really good moments. I loved it when Danny and Sam thought the stuff the campers were floating in was oatmeal. LOL! I really liked the eppi overall. My favorite part was the end when Danny almost put his arm around Sam after Tuck fell asleep. That's adorable. I didn't really think that Wulf could have a major role in any of the eppis. Butch really made a good comeback of the show with season 3. I especially liked this eppi cuz I'm in 6th grade and we were SUPPOSED to have a camping trip. There's like... three xD; One and Two were when they both were like "I wouldn't be able to live without you... or Tucker." And the third one was near the end when they give each other lovey-dovey eyes. Oh! and there's a fourth one at the very end when Tucker finally falls asleep [in fact, they make it seem like Danny is tryint to put his arm around her shoulder i cant wait to see the pics i asked for she said she will try to get me em and i cant wait to share em with you!!!!xd
now remeber these are danny and sam moments yall and thats wat i like in a good dp eppie!!!! Plot spoilers, well at least half of it. If you don't want to know what happens don't read this. Danny Sam and Tucker go on a camping trip to Camp Skull in Lake Eerie(sound familiar? cough cough GNO cough cough) only to find that the camp site that was supposed to be beautiful is in ruins! To make it worse, Mrs. Tetslaff and Mr. Lancer are the chaperones, and there are no bathrooms there whatsoever! Mikey and Nathan try to run behind a tree since they've been holding it for a rilly long time, but Mikey runs out alone saying that some freaky ghost attacked and kidnapped Nathan. The campers get frightened and Mrs. Tetslaff of course says that this place is not haunted even though it's supposed to be. Danny and Tucker get put in a cabin with Dash and Quan who use their heads to score points for their game of hackey sack. Each time it lands on a head you score. Sam gets put in a cabin with Paulina and Starr. Danny and Tucker sneak out at night and take Sam with them to look into this whole haunted camp business. They run into a ghost which they instantly suck into the thermos after a quick fight. The next morning they're eating breakfast when Dash runs in saying that Quan was attacked and kidnapped Quan just like with Nathan. When the timing is just right Danny flies off while canoeing in Lancer's group with Tucker but accidentally leaves the thermos behind. He saves Sam who was in Tetslaff's group but accidentally wandered off track. He realizes he left the thermos so he quickly freezes the ghost that attacked Sam. Soon Tetslaff and her group are ambushed by Walker's goons and kidnapped themselves! That may explain Quan and Nathan's disappearence. Meanwhile, Danny and Sam return to find the camp site even more ruined then before. Not to mention, it looks like Lancer's group was taken too. They find Tucker's portable video game broken and the thermos gone. The bush behind them moves and Danny goes ghost and shoots an energy blast at it. Wulf comes out and Danny immediately stops tryin to blast him. I don't quite know what happens next but I think that Wulf's going to warn them about Walker kidnapping everyone. Then they're all going to go after Walker and his goons and they'll of course free all of his prisoners and foil Walker's plan.
