I have started to watch danny phantom on my I-touch and I think my brother's keeper is the best danny phantom episode ever.It deals with the brother/sister relationship between danny and jazz fenton and I like the fact she finally finds out his secret identity but decides not to expose it by saying "he can tell me when he's ready." And I would personelly like to thank butch hartman for doing this wonderful episode. Also I hope that danny phantom will be revived for a fourth season in the future. But in the mean time lets handle the new Fairly odd parents season.

I found this to be a terrific episode because Jazz's discovery added a new depth to her and was a major turning point in the storyline. This episode had AWESOME animation in the scene where Danny saves Jazz as well as a wonderful idea! I loved how the scene was slowed down because it made everything more dramatic! It also helped my learn a lot more about the characters- what their fears were and what ticks them off! Danny beating Bertrind was awesome- especially the "Do...not...call...me...a LOSER!" part! I loved how Danny saved Jazz's life and how proud she was of him! The final scene where she smiles and watches him soar across the sky was one of the bests in the series! And this episode also showed that no matter how dark any given situation seems, there will always be a brighter day! Two thumbs up!

My Brother's Keeper is a terrific Danny Phantom episode. It was really really good. So far, it's one of my favorite episodes of Danny Phantom. In this episode, Jazz thinks Danny is acting strange and it's not like him. He's not being too friendly. So she asks the therapist to see Danny. Unfortunately, she's a ghost. Danny doesn't know that quite yet. He finds out later in the episode. Also, Jazz finds out that Danny isn't only a teen, he is also a ghost. So overall, My Brother's Keeper was a very great episode of Danny Phantom and it was awesome!
  • Well written and entertaining.

I really liked this episode for many reasons. Danny meets Spectra, a ghost obsessed with looking young, who poses as Casper High school's new therapist. I thought it was great how Jazz finally figured out that her borther is really half ghost, and it shows how brilliant her charcater is. Even though Danny hadn't figured it out until a while later in UE, Jazz being ale to wait until her brother was ready to tell her was sweet. I also loved the ending with Jazz's speech and her saving Danny. Such a cute episode about the relationship between the both of them. Exactly why I enjoy the show so much.
  • Danny must fight a therapist who feeds on teen depression to save his sister Jazz.

At the time, this was my favorite episode. I don't know why, but I'm glad Jazz found out about Danny's secret. It will make the series much more interesting and will add to the excitement. I didn't care for Bertrand though. I liked the part where he and Danny were fighting, and then he turned into a ninja and performed all these cool and difficult moves, but Danny just sucked him into the thermos as if it were the easiest thing in the world. Penelope Spectra was okay though. It was disturbing to see her torn apart 'molecule by molecule' though (shudders).
  • Danny feels like he keeps screwing up all the time.Meanwhile, there's a new therapist and she isn't making him feel any better. While fighting Spectra,Jazz sees him transform but dicides not to tell him.Spectra is trying to kill Jazz the whole time.

I like this episode because Jazz finds out. I gave this a 9.7 only because i felt that Jazz should have told Danny she knew that he was half - ghost insted of keeping it to herself. If i had been Jazz i would have told Danny i knew that he was Danny Phantom. I liked how Spectra disused herself as a human and made Danny work to figure out her plan. I also like how Jazz came in and saved Danny's butt at the very end and taking away Spectras eternal youth. She was an ugly old person i think.
  • This episode has a pivotal role in the series. Without we'd be lost on how Jazz acts later on...

This episode was a well written one. But very special also. Since we actually see more of the Jazz we know now. Not the weird obbessive sister. There's great character development. Plus Spectra was a well thought out ghost character. Feeding off of youth miserys creepy but perfect for a villainous. Her partner Betrand is pretty dangerous too. Plus they tried using Danny. And the best part was he and some of us didn't she was the ghost till later on. They hid it really well. The greatest thing though would Jazz finding out Danny's secret. Wow that was a surprise the first time I saw it. This episode by far is great. Well done and unique a wonderful episode. Writers of the show you did an excellent job.

The episode starts off with Jazz talking to Mr. Lancer about how Danny has changed during this year.Danny is fighting a ghost inside Mr.Lancer's office. The ghost gets away and the office is trashed, just as Danny turns back into human form Mr.Lancer and Jazz walk in.For Danny's punishment he has to see the school's guideence conciler(This was Jazz's idea)Ms.Spectra.Ms. Spectra plays off the students fears and than depresses them.Spectra feeds of their depreation so she can look young. She even depresses Danny and has him doubting himself, which prevents him from fighting her assistant to his full power.Jazz sees Danny transform into his ghost form and tries to get back in touch with Danny, but fails to do so.Danny figures out that Penelope Spectra is really a ghost who is feeding of people's depression.Danny confornts her and finds out that she has a device set that will kill Jazz as she gives a speech,in order to make the students so depress she will be young forever.Danny beats her assistant and captures him in the Fenton Thermous.Danny saves Jazz just in time, but Spectra comes back and is about to finish him off.Jazz comes to help Danny with a new Fenton invention the Fenton Pealer. The pealer weakens Spectra and Danny captures her in the thermous. The episode ends with Danny flying freely in the sky and Jazz watching him thinking he will her when he is ready.

A great episode the plot was ammazing and the new villain Spectra was great to she is so sinester and evil.Jazz finally finds out Danny is half-ghost,which will be important in later epsiodes.

This has to be the worst episode of danny phantom ever. The villains couldn\'t have been more boring. This has got to be the biggest glitch ever. The villains use emotion to win their battles, it can\'t be much worse than that. And danny is all depressed all the time it\'s a wonder he even managed to get out of bed. There was hardly any action at all here and the characters are not as cool as on any other episode. I can\'t believe this episode made it on tv. Honestly though I do not want to offend anyone here so I\'ll keep the critisizm as it is without any more additions.

This episode is more than great. It\'s phenomenal because Jazz finally finds out that her brother is half-ghost. The only part I don\'t like is that she is keeping the secret that she knows his secret. I think she should have told him, but she does a pretty good job of keeping it secret until The Ultimate Enemy, and she helps out Danny a lot without him even knowing. I think that\'s a great thing for a sister to do, and Danny should be very happy to have a sister like Jazz. He gets on her case so much. Overall I really liked this episode when I finally saw it.

Noticing a change in her brother's attitude, Jazz signs Danny up for counseling with Penelope Spectra. Despite the apparent attempts at help, Danny only winds up feeling depressed and gloomy, along with everyone else who goes to her for therapy. The depression affects Danny’s concentration in battle, so he doesn’t figure out Spectra is a ghost who feeds off teen misery! Jazz tries to talk to her brother, but she ends up knowing more than she wanted to know.

Now, this was the first episode since the first one in which the commercial didn't give away what the episode was about. Let me tell you, I was not prepared for what was coming.

It's a good thing I wasn't revealed, because this was an incredible episode! Wonderful, and the first truly great episode of the series.

The opening was quite nice. I liked that Jazz seemed worried that Danny had been acting odd because of his powers and was talking to Mr. Lancer about it. Danny’s fight with Bertrand, though, wasn’t that great, and why didn’t he just fly away after Bertrand after he flew off and just stay there? Seemed a little weak of him, IMO.

The brother and sister bonding in this episode was something we hadn't seen since the series began, but the way it was put together was very well-written. Even before Jazz discovered who Danny was, there were pure signs of her caring about Danny. As of now, I no longer think of Jazz as a snobby, self-absorbed sister that has been seen before. She is now perhaps the best bigger sister I've ever seen on Nickelodeon.

When I first saw Jazz find out Danny was a ghost, I didn't know what the reaction would be. But the way they presented it was very impressive. And what was most impressive of all is that Danny doesn't know that Jazz knows! I wonder what he'll do when he finds out she does.

Also something I really liked was the kind of gloomy atmosphere of everything. Now, for me, this is kind of hypocritical, since I enjoy cartoons with humor. Even though the humor level was down in this episode, there was still no problem with it. Besides, there were still some funny parts, like Jack and Jazz with the Fenton Peeler.

Lancer, I had a feeling was a little creepy with the pom-poms and jumping on the trampoline, but other than that he was pretty much IC. It was a little funny, anyway.

Danny was done very well throughout the episode. David Kaufman was great acting as the depressed and angry Danny, but as for Danny himself, he was wonderful. The fact that he truly cared that Jazz was in danger, and that he cared for the fact that Jazz never put him down. This is the first we’ve ever really seen the siblings caring about each other, and it was done nicely, and now that Jazz knows about Danny’s powers, there will likely be more in the future.

Best of all was at the end when Danny was flying around Amity Park to relieve his stress after a very depressing week. Oh, it touches me deeply every time. It was just a beautiful scene and a beautiful way to end an episode like this.

Overall, a fabulous episode. After I've decided to give episodes a personal score, not an official score, higher than 10, something I've given Fanning the Flames, I give My Brother's Keeper the pure 10/10. The first truly great episode of Danny Phantom thus far, and I can't wait to see more great ones in the future!

Jazz finally knows Danny's secret. What a turn of events! Not only does she know the secret but she was also the heroine of day, which was probably meant to give her a bigger role in the series. This could put her in danger and risks the exposure of Danny's secret to the rest of the world. This episode adds more suspense for later in the series. This episode also gives awareness to the people of Amity Park about ghosts. I believe this was the first significant time that the whole public saw ghosts. In this case it was the giant ghost bug in the school. The fight between Danny and Bertrain could've used more work, but the shocking events in this episode and its possible effects for later episodes make this a superb one.

I like that someone else knows Danny's secret. Other then Sam and Tuker. But I am not saying anything bad. But it makes it a little more exiting but I still think the serise would have been better if Jazz did'nt figure it out. It could go both ways. But this episode is on my top 5.

Danny has 2 fight some teen energy sucking ghost Penelopie Spectra and her assistant Bertrand. It is hard to get rid of her (Jazz's) happiness. Also the 2 ghosts want 2 demolish Danny's self esteem. The plan? 2 vaporize Jazz the only chipper kid left in the school. Spectra likes 2 look young. She say's teen misery is the necture that keeps me looking young. Danny fights

Burtrand who is a shap shifter while spectra talks to teens at Casper high and makes them feel worse.(She says she is a guidence counceler.) Jazz can tell Danny needs help and follows him when he runns away to go ghost to fight Burtrand. She wittnisses transformation. At the last minute Danny saves jazz while she is doing her spirit day spech so she won't get vaporized. Jazz doesn't say anything it's her little secret. She keeps it for many episodes.

I've been with the Danny Phantom series since the Saturday about three weeks after its premiere episode (just my luck they ran a mini-marathon that day with Mystery Meat, One of a Kind, and Parental Bonding). I managed to miss a few episodes within the first ten episodes aired, but this one I simply refused to miss, after I realized its premise; that Jazz would find out Danny had ghost powers. Regardless of the fact that I needed to get up at five the next day in order to catch a plane, I stayed up well past midnight in order to catch the re-run of this episode from the west coast transmission (I'd missed the east-coast airing three hours before).

From everything in season one, I could not have chosen a better episode to stay up for.

This is, pretty much, the defining episode of the series' initial run. While the prior episodes were done mostly for fun and marginal jumps in characterization, establishment of the infamous Palina-Danny-Sam triangle, and the familiarization with Danny's powers, My Brother's Keeper manages to define one of the things I have most hoped the series would define; Danny's struggle to cope with what he's become, first marginally explored in Mystery Meat (as Danny opines about his parents' machine not being able to reverse its effects and never quite addressed again). The trappings it takes are amazing, too; a ghost that feeds on negative emotions, particularly depression, and stays young off of them -- an emotional vampiress with one of the best sidekicks ever to be seen in the show (one of the only ones, too, but I digress).

Penelope Spectra can only be defined as a word I've prefer not to use at the moment (but it begins with a 'b' and rhymes with 'switch'. Yes, 'bwitch', good job.) She is, undeniably, the worst threat to Danny that has been shown on this show because of her tactics; she doesn't try and defeat him at first, she tries to break him, and most nearly succeeds. Even the ultimate enemy Dark Danny doesn't manage to do nearly as much damage as Spectra does to Danny in this episode, and that unforgettable exchange between the two:

    P. SPECTRA : What are you? A ghost trying to fit in with humans? Or some creepy little boy with creepy little powers?

    DANNY : Both... Neither... I don't KNOW!

The emotion in this one episode from Penelope Spectra's influence makes up one of the most wrenching sequences in the entire series; viewers who watch for the thrill of the storyline unfolding rather than just the laughs (in other words, those that things Identity Crisis doesn't count in canon) are definitely going to feel the pit of their stomach drop at some point during the show.

One of the most lasting impressions this gives -- aside from the realization that Danny's sense of self is definitely broken when he dwells upon it too much -- is that the dynamic between him and his sister is definitely going to change from here on out. Jazz, who was otherwise a bossy, snobby individual, changes her tune almost immediately from this point on, becoming more compassionate all around, particularly to her brother, and her softer side really shows through -- not to mention giving her a reason to investigate the profession of her family more thoroughly, if her brother actually is, in part, one of the creatures they dedicate their lives to hunting.

If you're looking for a comedic episode, you might do better turning your attention elsewhere; while this episode definitely has its share of giggles, it's a little bit sparse in comparison to some of the others. But if you're looking for a moving, emotional romp through Danny's psyche, you can't do any better.
  • Episode 9 - My Brother's Keeper - My review

    "Perfect"
It’s Spirit Week Centennial at Casper High and Mr. Lancer appoints Jazz to give her pep speech for the Centennial Spirit-a-thon. Jazz tells Lancer to talk to Danny because she feels he’s not being himself lately. Jazz feels Danny is too depressed and doesn’t listen to her, so somebody else has to get through to him. Lancer finds Danny in Penelope Spectra’s (who is the new school motivational speaker and team therapist) office, which is completely destroyed (because he was fighting a ghost in there before they entered). Penelope Spectra seems a little too cheerful and enthusiastic in front of everyone. Little does anyone know that Penelope and her assistant Bertrand are actually ghosts, who take in children’s despair to make their appearance look good.

In fact, Penelope specially keeps sessions with Danny because of his depression with Jazz. Bertrand secretly gets Danny in trouble, and Penelope makes him dress as a baby in front of the school to humiliate him (by telling him it will have a positive effect) to feed on his misery. Soon, Danny becomes the laughing stock of Casper High and gets sadder. Jazz tries to get through to him, and decides to spy on him to see what he’s secretly up to. She sees him turn into a ghost and fly off! Sam and Tucker say it’s in her imagination and tell her to forget it, but Jazz knows they are covering for their friend.

Jazz realizes why Danny has been acting distant and feels bad for doubting him. She doesn’t tell Danny that she knows his secret because she wants him to tell her himself when he is ready. Danny finds out who Penelope really is and finds out that her next target is Jazz. Will Danny be able to stop her and save Jazz before it’s too late?

This episode definitely goes to my top 10 episodes of Danny Phantom. It’s moving, exciting, funny (the part where Lancer does his cheerleader act is too funny!), and someone saves Danny in the end for once. This is also a very important episode because we find out how Jazz learns about Danny’s powers. This episode is a must-see for any DP fan.

This was the episode that made me sit up and take notice. Danny Phantom had been okay, but this episode gave the show some depth and brought deep characterization to a genre that seldom has such a thing.

Not only does the episode delve into stereotypical (but real) teenage angst, but it added the dimension of Jazz's concern and her discovery of the truth. More importantly, her decision not to spill the beans was a wonderful touch -- allowing a much better long-term emotional content.
  • One of the first episodes I watched, and probably the best.

Okay. I don't normally watch Danny Phantom, but this episode was too phenomenal to not write a review for. Well the whole Spectra Bertrand partnership is genius, seeing how they benefit off of each other, and not only were new villains introduced, but this was probably Jazz's biggest episode ever. Once Danny gives up the ghost for good, and the DVD Sets come out, "My Brother's Keeper" will defenitely still be one of the best episodes to date. HOLLA!
  • MBK sets the stage for a great subplot for a character with potential... and was all around clever!

My Brother's Keeper starts out with what probably seems like the usual brother/sister story, combined with a ghost infiltration of the school. Well, it is that. However, it's told with some interesting twists on both sides.

The villain in the episode is, to me, one of the most interesting ghosts, and through her we saw character development (check the title) with nearly every character! Even Paullina, however unimportant and easily escapable her changes may have been. For the first time, we see Danny with serious self-doubt issues that his friends, much less him, seem to be able to fix with Spectra breathing down their necks. The way he ultimately gets over it is, given, cheesy ("I can't let her down!"), but works in well enough to where its almost over-lookable.

But possibly the most pivotal piece of thios episode was that Jazz now knows who the ghostly crusadaer of Amity Park is, and she chooses to keep it to herself. Not only does this lead to what I think are hilarious scenes in the future, but it's the first time it's really stuffed in Jazz's face that ghosts are real. Her bother is one! And it gives an overlooked character something important to do in the series, which I think is good because she's such a great chatacter.

This episode has a good lession and that is, not all big sisters are snobs, I really like the way they portray Jazz in the series from this episode on it shows that Jazz really loves Danny and trys to help him out by making excuses for him. The line "He can tell me when hes ready" was a fine example of what kind of sister Jazz really is.

Bertrand may be evil but he is still very cool. I like how he can turn into anything. Spectra is a bit unusual for my liking.

After mistaking Danny's ghost hunting for depression, Jazz signs her little brother up for a counseling session with Penelope Spectra -- an evil ghost in disguise that feeds off of teen misery and depression to keep herself looking young and beautiful.

"My Brother's Keeper" was spectacular. At first, I thought Jazz learning Danny's secret so early in the series would be a disaster, but the way it was presented was superb! It was a very subtle and touching moment.

The actions of the characters were acted out in an extremely realistic way. They seemed very 3-D in this episode.

This episode was gripping, deep beyond description, and put forth an extremely powerful message without becoming preachy or sappy. The theme of the episode was gloomy, depressing, but the ending was a beautiful scene. Danny floating freely in the air, having no cares, after a hard day of depression and misery. This, in my opinion, was indeed the best episode to date. Bravo, Mr. Hartman and co.!

This episode as it says up top os very revealing! Heck, Danny's secret is found out! This is one of my favorite episodes, and I like how she found out, usually it's somthing corny like in Bitter Reunions, how Vlad revealed his powers to Danny. He just right on showed him. This one was secret and not intential, like on Smallville, or not. Alicia took Chloe and tricked Clark into revealing himself, but it still reminds me of DP. Jazz was just trying to help her brother and both Sam and Tucker were there to back him up. I thought it was funny how Jazz was willing to pay Tucker to tell her what's going on with Danny.

    Another Great Episode!!

Well, A great episode, so far!

All series have an episode that really showcases how it was the best of times, and "My Brother's Keeper" is what does it for Danny Phantom. It is this episode that really showcases the attitudes of the characters, and really fleshes the relationships between the Fentons.

In the beginning, Jazz is worried about Danny's attitude change, so she takes charge and signs him up to speak with Penelope Spectra, who unbeknowest to everyone, is a ghost that uses teen misery to restore her youthful looks. She uses Dannywell, by making him feel like a loser while Bertrand, her snippy assistant, shapeshifts into ghosts that Danny is too distracted to fight properly, making him feel more depressed.

The episode was handled well. Spectra is nasty and villianous enough, but the real highlight of the show is Danny and Jazz. Concerned that Spectra is not helping, Jazz delves deeper. She goes to Tucker and Sam, who propmptly respond that they are his friends, so they don't tell her things. Just like real friends do. So Jazz takes matters into her own hands at an ice cream parlor, and discovers the truth as she watches her brother transform. Sam and Tucker witness that Jazz was nearby when Danny transform, but Jazz cleverly lies and says she saw nothing.

She then bonds with Danny after he unsuccessfully fights Bertrand again. She tells him that Spectra lied when she said Jazz called him a loser. She can be pushy and such, but she's alwas on his side. That lightens Danny's mood considerably, and he can finally concentrate when he confronts Spectra. Her plan is to destroy Jazz, whom everyone likes, then feed off the misery. Danny fights and defeats Bertrand, then does a mad dash to save Jazz, allowing Spectra to attack. Spectra fights Danny, and she has the upper hand because she harps on his depression about being a ghost-boy, and different from everyone else.

But it is Jazz, who has stolen her father's new invention, the Ghost Peeler. She then joins Danny in fighting Spectra, and which the two of them easily beat her. Jazz returns to a crowd, now cured of their depression. Everyone had their spirit back, especially Danny. The show ends with Danny flying over Amity Park, happy and content, as Jazz, almost like his guardian angel, watches over him.

The message in this episode is amazing, a real jerker about family. Jazz is pushy and wants Danny to be better then he is, but she will always stand up to protect him, no matter the dangers of Spectra, or anyone else. When the series continues and Danny's ghost self becomes a public enemy, Jazz is among the few who believes in his innocence. When Jazz is afflicted with ghost-sickness, Danny goes into a spooky hospital to rescue her. It really shows the strong alliance between the two of them.

"My Brother's Keeper" is viewed by many as the best in the series, the ultimate in all things Danny Phantom. And it's hard to disagree.

Jazz, mistaking Danny's ghost-hunting for depression, arranges for him to see Penelope Spectra, the school's new therapist. Things seem strange when Danny; along with everyone else who sees the shrink; ends up feeling worse. Spectra is in fact a ghost, feeding off teen misery to look young and playing with their emotions to get results. The school's centennial year and spirit week are approaching, but there's hardly any spirit left in anyone. As the celebration day approaches, Danny discovers the truth...and that, in order to insure enough misery to last her forever, Spectra plans to eliminate the speaker, Jazz!

"My Brother's Keeper" presents the emotion, depth, and daring this show can have at its finest. Many "teen" shows make attempts at angst and depression, but none succeed at the caliber of DANNY PHANTOM. I could feel and relate to Danny throughout the entire episode, and at times it was genuinely painful to see what he was going through. Along with "Public Enemies," this is probably the darkest episode of the series so far.

One thing I love about this show is how the cast and crew aren't afraid of pushing through major and series-altering plot points in just the first season. Jazz finding out and the way it was handled was nothing short of brilliant, and led into some wonderfully touching moments. Best of all, Danny doesn't know she knows!

Though the episode is rather serious, the comic elements that do come through are wonderful. The brief scenes with Jack are worth a laugh, and Tucker has one or two good lines. By far the most entertaining comedy relief in this episode is Mr. Lancer, as he goes overboard with excitement over the approaching spirit week. The peak of his comedic value in the episode; with Spectra having bummed out the cheerleading squad, he picks up the pom-poms himself and tries to relive his days as a cheerleader from when he was a student!

Spectra is by far the nastiest villain after Vlad. With all that she puts the characters through, you can't help but feel she deserves her place in the Fenton Thermos. The same goes for her assistant Bertrand, a nasty little monster.

The animation in this episode was amazing. The colouration and style was constantly changing to suit the scenes, and the image quality and cinematography just seem so clear here. The action sequences are breathtakingly shot and filled with energy and intensity. The animators deserve a pay raise for their work here. About the only thing wrong is that in the second half of the episode, Lancer's beard is rectangular instead of curved, and really, who cares?

"My Brother's Keeper" seems impossible to fault. And it is. It defies the conventions of the medium, pushes the story farther than anyone would expect so early, and succeeds with flying colours. Definately in my Top 5. 10/10.
