  • eh ... great storyline? i think not. I'd say good storyline.

Not the best episode to start off a show, but not "Boooo!" bad. Ok this episode just basically tells u about the characters.

Danny Fenton / Phantom : He's the main character, and has superpowers. He's been clueless of the crush that one of his friends has on him until the the end of the last season.

Sam Manson : Danny's best friend, a goth girl thats a ultra recyclo vegetarian ( doesn't eat meat, eats crap that looks like garbage.) ... She's the one that has a crush on Danny.

Tucker Foley : Danny's technology loving friend. He LOOOOVES meat. he's probably never had a vegetable until the episode Infinite Realms.

Jazz Fenton : Danny's often snobby sister. learned his secret identity in the second season.

Jack and Maddie Fenton : Danny's crazy ghost hunting parents. learned that Danny was the ghost they've wanted to rip apart molecule by molecule in the finale.

Paulina : The popular girl, Danny and Tucker were "Goo goo" over her. Sam hates her and often dubs her "Shallow".
  • On trying to figure out his new ghost powers, Danny and his friend are faced with their first ghostly foe, the LUNCH LADY!

A great start to a truely classic show. Danny and his friends face the menacing lunch lady as she is not impressed with the menu change. Though maybe not the best Danny Phantom episode, Mystery Meat successfully introduces the viewer to the main situation: Danny recently gaining ghost powers and his lack of control over them, his ghost obsessed parents, his know it all sister, his faithful friends and his life at Casper High with his lack of good grades and bullies. It also introduces us to the main characters personalities. Great comedy, keeps you smiling the whole way through!
  • Good starter episode!

I think this was a good starter episode. it shows how danny didn't really like his powers then liked them and new what he was to do. this episode has good examples of how danny couldnt really control his powers.

we need to thank sam in this episode because sam convinced danny to like his powers. if it wasnt for her, well, danny just mite not like his super.

i thought this was a really funny episode and theres nuthing really more i can think of to say...its just awesome
  • Not the best way to start a show

    Danny Phantom,

    Mystery Meat,

In the opener we learn that danny has ghost powers. And doesnt know how to use them very well. His two friends Sam and Tucker at the moment are the only ones who know of his powers. Sam is a "goth" but not really to me. And tucker is a teck freak. When sam gets rid of meat on the menu in return for veggies and salad. A mystery meat ghost comes to wreck the say. I have to say this one was probably one of the worst i mean a ghost with the power the control meat. That's weird
  • Danny is slowly trying to learn his powers, when the Lunch Lady attack Casper High due to Sam changing the all meat menu to veggies. Which awaking the ghost spirit, but in the end Danny Phantom still save the day.

I love this show, because it is the first show and in catch and hook you so you can not turn away from the television. It shows how Danny Fenton first got his powers and how he tried to develop the over the reminding years. I was sad to learn that Danny Phantom show has be cancelled due to less viewers watching. I believe that Danny Phantom should have one last episode before it completely goes of. You learn to love and hate certain villians of Phantom and enjoy the seemingly knowing relationship between Danny and Sam with witty Tucker. But over all it is a great show.
  • first ever episode

this is the first ever episode to this show, it shows the first few ghost danny faced, how danny got his powers, and it shows who were danny's parents, sister, and friends. when this first came on nick i was interseted on the commericals and i gave this show a try. i could tell by not watching the first episode that it was an easy show to understand

this episode was real good and the first ever main ghost he fought was some kind of meat ghost. she was a tough ghost. to be in the first episode im glad danny beat her

    i give this episode a 9.5/10
  • I thought this first episode was a start.

Personally, I have rarely watched the pilot episode of anything! I mean, I saw it from the beginning, but not the 'beginning' beginning. It basically tells that Danny has used his powers for the first time and uses them on his first enemy: the Lucnh lady. It wouldv'e been funny if he had told his parents his secret. Then the series would be lame! I really did like this episode because it was the beginning of a new, and popular series: the start of Danny Phantom. I love this show. I first saw this show on Nicktoons Network when I first got cable eariler this year. I fell in love the first time I watched it.

About one month ago there was an accident in Danny Fenton's parents and Danny gained ghost powers. Throughout this episode he struggles with the use of his powers, as he does not have control of them yet. But when the lunch menu is changed at school, a revengeful Lunch Lady ghost comes to Casper High to seek revenge. She can turn into a 100 foot meat monster and control all meat! Danny realizes that he has to use his powers for good to stop this felilinous fiend! Matter's only become more complicated when one of his best friends, Samantha "Sam" Manson, is captured by the ghost. The side story of Jack and Maddie trying to capture Jazz because they think she is a ghost profides a bunch of comic relief!
  • The beginning of such a classic series.

Mystery Meat is the first ever episode of a show that I truly love. It also refers to the random cafeteria meat, luckily I don't have that at my school. The only thing I didn't like about the episode was the concept of cafeteria and the whole nine. But other than that everything was great. I feel that Butch did a swell job of introducing us to all the characters and their very unique personalities. Sam's gothic comeback's are so hilarious. Maddie and Jack are as obsessed with ghosts than ever. How could they think their own daughter is a ghost? I guess the supernatural will drive you crazy but I am a sane believer. The action/comedy in the episode was well-balanced. Danny really kicked that Lunch Lady's butt, although she by far is not my favorite villain. Overall, putting my dislike of the Lunch Lady aside, this episode was really good.
  • Mystery Meat takes the cake...

Mystery Meat is the pilot episode in the Nick television show, Danny Phantom. It introduces to the world the story of a fourteen year old teen who is struggling to control his ghost powers. Danny Fenton has a fun, laid-back personality that many watchers can identify with and enjoy. He is humourous, calm, realistic and is pretty cute (excuse the fangirl inside). His friends are interesting too: Sam Manson is a recyclo-vegetarian and his friend Tucker is just the opposite, a meat-fanatic. Because of the collision in personality, the show takes on a fun spin that is very appealing. Mystery Meat is a thrilling introduction to the series.
  • The begining!

This is the begining of Danny Phantom, thus the most important show in the series! Where the characters are introduced, their lives and problems. I give this epp alot of credit for the humor, because being the first epp, humor normally isnt on the top of the list for most shows, but they made it work!
  • This was the first episode I watched and I really loved it!

At first I didn't expect it to be this awesome, but it proved me wrong! The animation was phantastic, the voice actors sounded like they fit their characters, and it was just so...perfect! It also gave a great understanding of the characters from just the first ep (Danny as the teen hero, Sam as the rebellious best friend, Dash as the bully, etc.) so I knew somewhat of what to expect for later eppies. I also liked the "ghost directly ahead, you would have to be some sort of moron to not notice the ghost directly ahead". His parent's cluelessness was funny! It was the ep that got me hooked and I just kept watching it until the newer ones came out. It was awesome, and especially since it was so early in the season. And OMFG the animation when Danny transformed to fight the Lunch Lady for the first time was amazing beyond words! Go Danny!

As I said, I've been waiting to long to review this episode! I finally get to tell everyone exactly how the first ever episode effected me. This was the first ever episode of Danny Phantom, and to tell the whole truth, when I first saw the commercial for this new series, I was a little bit skeptical about it. I was thinking to myself, "Oh boy another superhero show." But when I finally viewed it I was comepletely blown away! I love this episode because it shows the best of each character, the beginnings of relationships (Both good, and not so good) and I love how Danny is Dealing with his powers early on. It's certainly a series classic.
  • Danny's first show!!:D

Okay, so it was an all right episode, but it could've been better!! I still enjoyed it though! It wasn't the very first episode I saw, but it was still great! So, Sam changes the lunch menu becuase she's an ultra-recycleable vegetarian or something! Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed it!! Yeah, well I really like how they introduced you to Danny and Sam and Tucker, really showing the kind of people they are! And this episode wasn't like they showed you exactly what happened to Danny when he became ghost, but I still liked it a lot!! Yeah, so this was totally great!!:D
  • Danny has to fight off a ghost who wants revenge on Sam for changing the lunch menu.

When I first heard of this show, I didn't think it would be very good, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and decided to watch this episode when it aired. Boy was I wrong about this show! I thought this episode was really good and that people weren't giving it enough credit. What I really liked about this episode is Jack thinking Jazz was a ghost when it was actually Danny and when Danny kept reverting back to his human self in the middle of a fight. I would have to give this episode an 8.6 just because it pales compared to some other episodes.
  • Danny, just starting to learn how to master his new ghost powers, has to battle it out with an angry lunch lady ghost to save Sam while avoiding Mr. Lancer and Dash. Meanwhile, Jack and Maddie, convinced Jazz is a ghost, attepmt to capture her.

One of my personal favorites, “Mystery Meat” is an excellent start to the show “Danny Phantom.” Its humor, timing, and animation are all great, and the voice actors and actresses do a superb job bringing their characters to life. Grey DeLisle is one of my favorite voice actresses, and does a fabulous job with Sam. Danny is adorably gawky, but steps up to the plate (as well as he can) to save his friends. I love the dual plots, with Jack and Maddie attacking Jazz in various ways. All around a great start to a great show! Two thumbs up from me!

No Offence Meant! I like Danny phantom a lot, but I wish they'd get some better ideas. They kinda lost their touch if you know what I mean. You know I used to be really into Danny phantom, like obsessed with it. But now I'm more into shows like Avatar: The Last airbender and Zoey 101. But I guess that's just me...

This is the first episode of Danny Phantom, a program about a boy that has ghost powers. In this episode Danny must fight with the lunch Lady. Is a good episode. When I see it I love it because is a good show. This show has very cool characters and ghost. It´s a funny show and is from the same creator of the Fairly Odd Parents and the jokes and characters are very similar like dumb parents and that the principal character of this and the other program not are popular and have few friend and likes a popular girl in the school
  • Great show to start off with!

Danny Fenton is a shy teen who is similiar to Peter Parker and that he is constantly picked on. But when he has powers, he has the last laugh despite reluctantly not wanting them at first. But then he realizes that he needs them in order to fight off ghosts. Only his geek friend and goeth female friend know who he is and his sister as well. Not even his parents know.
  • The episode that started it all. And that got me hooked on the show.

A great episode not the best but an excellent pilot to this awesome series. Saw it back in 2004 when it first aired. this was the episode which started my growing enjoymant in the Danny Phantom series. It was funny, humorous, action packed, and explained a lot. Plus Danny was just discovering a lot of new powers. The Lunch Lady I have to admit wasn't the best ghost villianous but she still was better than some. And could hold her weight against Danny. Just goes to show how Danny started out. All and all a great episode which was worth seeing.

This was the frist episode of Danny Phantom the best none anime ever and this episode I did like even though i like darker plots most of the time for super hero shows this show started pretty plane but still kinda funny i will admitt but this first episode compared to the later ones are a little surpriseing it shows that even a nicktoon can have great chararter devolopmet
  • pretty dang good.

    "Superb"
i really liked this episode. you see how he's struggling to cope with his new powers, and he's still trying to fit in. it was hard before, but now it's harder, seeing as how he was normal before, but now he's pretty abnormal. haha. weird sentence.

but anyway, you can see in this episode, that sam and tucker are the only people he trusts with his secret, and he decides never to tell his parents. you can see throughout the episode, that he just wants to tell everyone to explain why he's acting so weird, and he wants to tell his parents, seeing as how, he thinks, they'll find out sooner or later anyway. but yeah. this ep. is really good.

i like this one a lot. it's important and it's a key episode, obviously, of the show.
  • This is one of those episode's that I label an " obviously first eppy " episode.

    6.7
    "Fair"
I this one is not really the best episode of the series. The villian is pretty lame, and the story line is actually kinda weird once you think about it. A fight between meat eaters and recycle-vegetarians ( whatever that is ). And Danny being forced to choose between his two best friends ( a conflict that didn't last long ), but this is also a commonly used conflict in many storylines. So I can't give this episode a high score.
  • A nice start to a great series.

    7.6
    "Good"
A good starter episode for the series.Mystery Meat introduces all of the main characters and the main format through the series.Danny Fenton is the son of two ghost hunters/scientist Jack Fenton and Maddie Fenton, who was in a accident with one their invention a ghost portal, which makes him half-ghost.Danny keeps his ghost powers secret from everyone except his two best friends Tucker Foley and Sam Manson. His sister Jazz Fenton believes her parents are crazy for believeing in ghost and trying to hunt them, she also is a would be psychologist.

Mystery Meat starts with Danny,Sam,and Tucker learning about ghost hunting from Jack(Danny\\\'s dad)when two ghost comes and Danny turns into his ghost form and beats them while his dad goes on about ghost and fails to notice this. The main plot is about how Sam changes the school\\\'s lunch menu to an all vegetarian friendly. This awakens the spirit of an a former lunch lady of the school, who wants to destroy the person who changed the menu.Tucker is mad at Sam for changing the menu and he isn\\\'t the only one Dash Baxter the school jock and bully picks on Danny for the change, when Lunch Lady comes and starts to cause trouble when she finds out Sam changed the menu. She kidnaps her Danny and Tucker to save her. They succeed in saving Sam Danny becomes very tired after the battle and passes out.Sam and Tucker take him home. The sub plot deals with Jack and Maddie believeing their oldest child Jazz is possessed by a ghost and try to capture her.Along with his many conflicts with the Lunch Lady Danny also has to deal with Tucker and Sam arguing about being meat eater and being a vegetarian.Infact both have made up groups for defending their sides and have called them to rally.

The final conflict between Danny and the Lunch Lady has Danny trying to figure out how to stop her once and for all.His problem is anwsered when his father Jack throws away his Fenton Thermous(a device that captures ghosts)anyway Danny uses the thermous and captures the Lunch Lady.Even though he has save the day Danny,Tucker, and Sam still have to clean up the school which is a mess after the Lunch Lady\\\'s attack.Danny than decides to use his powers to stop ghost from attacking his home town.
  • You have to give this episode credit for being the first one...Shows always get better as they go.usually...I thought is was a great start, i mean, this episode got me obsessed..

    9.1
    "Superb"
This is a great first episode.. The way they made Danny walk through the pop machine and falling through the floor was funny..It showed that he was new at it...The lunch lady wasn't really a great villain, actually she was kinda a joke to me, but Danny needed to start somewhere..I mean if he was like up against Vlad or like Prince Aragon at this time he would have lost..badly... They showed a lot about the characters to like how Sam and Tucker are liek completely different but are bound because of their friendship with Danny..The protest thing at the end was funny too with the hippies and stuff lol...Spike is awesome too lol..they gotta have him in another episode...Well anyway, this was a great first installment to this series that i do so love. and have since this episode premiered
  • This episode was nice, a classic, and you do notice through out the seasons of dp.that characters appearences do change, like in what you want sam is not as square at the shoulder dannys skin is a bit darker and so on.

Well this episode was a great jump start to a great show! Danny phantom is our new spiderman! I love spiderman and danny phantom mixed together, that only happenes in my dreams! but anyway, this episode gives viewers alittle info about some of the fenton members, dannys friends and school, just enough information to let viewers know what is going on,and so on, this review is not my best but this episode is good, not great, this episode is NOT one of my favorites. but i watch it, i dont love it to the end of the world like i love what you want. not the same kind of loving for mm.
  • Danny faces his first big-time villain, a lunch lady ghost who wants meat to rule the cafeteria menu after Sam has changed it.

    7.2
    "Good"
Danny is still adjusting to his one month-old ghost powers when Sam changes the lunch menu from mostly meat to Ultra-Recyclo Vegetarian. This brings out the ghost of a lunch lady, who is furious at seeing the menu changed. While Tucker and Sam fight over what the lunch food at Casper High should be, Danny is left to fight the ghost, all while his powers behave erratically with him facing his first taste of heroic deeds.

More or less, Mystery Meat was a good episode for a premiere. I remember seeing parts of the premiere broadcast, but I don't think I saw all of it the first time. When I did, I can't say I was really excited about it, but it did make me curious enough to come back for more.

This was a good way to introduce the characters: Danny as the shy, awkward, and clumsy boy who is stressed out with his new ghost powers, Tucker as the meat-loving techno-geek, Sam as the open-minded activist, etc. We actually see Danny as shy for one of the few times of the series before he starts to get more involved.

As for Jazz, she was alright in a couple parts. I could tell she was, in a way, caring about Danny in her first scene, even though she was pretty much giving a bad rep to her parents throughout that. Her scene with Spike was just...strange. Did she even know that kid?

Back to Danny. He was played out pretty well in this episode. He was under stress that he couldn't handle keeping his powers a secret, and that was presented rather nicely. It was also funny in the scenes where he phased through things and changed back to human form by accident.

Jack and Maddie were freaky throughout the episode. While Jack freaking out whenever he thought of Jazz as a ghost was pretty good, I wasn't really expecting it from Maddie. I was thinking that since I thought of her as the still somewhat sensible ghost hunter, so she wouldn't think of Jazz as a ghost. Other than that, she was pretty good.

I really didn't like the scenes with Dash and Lancer too much. Lancer, especially. Dash was pretty much like other bullies that we've seen before: big, jerky, and not necessarily on the bright side. As for Lancer, it rubbed me the wrong way that he lied about the stuff about the all-steak buffet, and the fact that he gave Dash special treatment just because he's a good football player. But the scene in the lunchroom where he complimented Sam was one of his better roles.

Sam and Tucker were minor, IMO, but still there for support. Personally, I thought it was sort of strange to have their friendship tested in the very first episode, but I guess it got across the point of how different they are. Their roles during the fight scenes were pretty good, so that was fine with me.

The Lunch Lady was...moody, to say the least. Calm one minute, but then explosive the next. That's sort of the way I am. :) She wasn't really much of a planner, and I didn't see too much of a threat in what she was trying to do, but there was still what you call energy behind it.

The fight scenes were only appropriate for a first episode for the most part. Showing Danny just delighted that his powers are working and trying to figure out how they work will only work for this type of setting, so this works. They got better in the second half, anyway.

Overall, this was good, just for a pilot episode. Not much is wrong with it, but there isn't really anything that jumps out at me and says, "Hey! Come look at this!" I give MM a 7.2/10.
  • Nice first episode.

    "Great"
I thought this was a good first episode, it was really easy to understand the main characters straight away.

I liked how there was a mixture of action and comedy that hadme laughing all the way through.

We dont really see how Danny becomes a Phantom and thats the only downside to this first episode.

Other then that i thought it was a great start to this show. The plot was crazy and thats just the way i like it!
  • After the accident in which Danny gain\'s his powers, he struggles to see what he can really do, how to control them and how to use them. The Lunch Lady ghost is released into Danny\'s school, and Danny fights the ghost using his new powers.

    9.9
    "Superb"
This is the first episode in the series \"Danny Phantom\". It was a great episode; it showed us how exactly Danny had ghost powers, like what they were, and how he could use them. It also gave us a lot of insight on the characters and their different personalities. Although the first big ghost he fought wasn\'t that exciting (Lunch Lady...ooo scary...), this episode lets you know that there will be more powerful ghosts to come as Danny develop\'s his powers. In this episode, you also learn a lot about his parents, and how obsessed they are on ghosts. The use of some of their technology shows how they will be very usefull in episodes soon to come. All in all, \"Mystery Meat\" was a great episode.
