  • Great holiday episode that I watch every year! Highly recommended.

What seperates this Christmas episode from the rest of the Christmas episodes out there is the fact that its ideas and storyline are truely original. The fact that Danny doesn't like Christmas is in and of itself a new concept. Also, the fact that virtually every part of this episode is in rhyme is also really cool. The villian didn't pose a huge threat but it was the fact that he was threatening something that people care about that made Danny fight back. This was interesting to watch and really cool. I'm sad this series is over but I enjoy rewatching this episode every christmas.
  • Christmas is a special time of the year--to ghosts and humans alike.

The Ghost Writer caused more good than harm in this episode. (And he's cute!) Sadly to say, the Ghost Writer is correct, there is no true rhyme for "orange".

You have to love Walker's sense of humor at the end though. A classic to torment the Ghost Writer. The downside to this episode is the aggravating rhyme scheme. I love to read and write poetry as much as the next person, but even this got on my nerves.

The true meaning of Christmas can be summed up into one word: Love. Thank you, Butch Hartman for this episode. A true classic.
  • its like a giant christmas poem.... wait it is a christmas poem, my bad.

christmas is a time for happiness and cheer, unlike danny in this episode here. it rhymes through out most of the episode, but im as bad at rhyming as a bear and a toad. ok so im not as bad as i thought, but it is a shame there isnt a dvd to be bought. no point complaining if you just download it, but it is harder to dig a sand pit. but in the end the message is clear. its good to be happy and spread christmas cheer. im sorry for rhyming if you cant understand, i just cant help it with this episode at hand.
  • nice christmas special

this episode was a very good christmas sepcial when i saw this episode i thought it was cool and an exciting episode when i see this episode i feel like its christmas already, a new villian is also introduced in this episode which MIGHT appear in another episode someday at first the rymbs in this episode was annoying but then i got used to it and i liked the episode this episode also reminds me of the good old nicktoons before for some reason this episode is the best holdiy special in this series thats what i think and i hope the creators keep up the good work with this series so i give this episode a 9.6/10 good episode!
  • This episode revels rough side of Danny...and the fact he hates Christmas.

This episode contains a episode long poem and Danny shows that he hates Christmas. It also shows that Sam is Jewish when it shows the Hannaku(sp?) decorations. The rhyming was insane! I love this episode and the episode was well written. This takes alot of work and encouragement to write this.
  • An attempt to try an capitalize on the "night before Christmas" poem. Forced and out of character

An attempt to try an capitalize on the "night before Christmas" poem. Forced and out of character. On major mistake was noted, at Sam's house the Menorah in the window and at their table has 7 candles, a Hanukia (hanuka menora) has 9. The only good point was the joke about there being no rhyme for the word 'orange'
  • Danny is depressed because of his parents' disagreement. he goes to the ghost zone blow off some gas by accidentally, he blows up a ghost story by the Ghostwriter. He makes Danny is be the main character in his new story.

The episode was brilliant. Its funny how that Maddie does not believe in Santa Claus, and that Jack does believe in Santa Claus. You know the saying opposites attract. Here is the example for that little phrase. It really shows you how Danny is affected by his mother and father's actions. He is depress all because of this situation. I would probably do the same exact things if I was in his shoes, but instead of shooting Christmas items or presents. I would be shooting empty bottles and cans. Christmas is a time when you spend time with friends, family, and your enemies.
  • Danny just didn't seem himself...

Yeah, this episode was great, but there were two key things in this episode that in my opinion that were just plain wrong. first of all, any show, or play, or just about anything that is completely in rhyme is just horrendous, and this entire episode was done in rhyme. I mean, i know that, that is what cartoonist do during the holidays, but i just hat it because it has been done to death.

Second, Danny was completely out of character. From the constant whining, to his attitude in general, everything was just done wrong for him. I mean, just because his parents fight every single Christmas, it's not like it's going to make him bitter, and angry, i think. Well anyway, i still liked this episode so an 8 out of 10
  • This was a fantastic episode!

Like every other episode in the series, this one rocked! It added a lot of character depth instead of non-stop fighting, though. I found the animation especially terrific. It had a great moral also- not to act on anger. I really enjoyed watching this and it got me into the Christmas spirit! The music was also great and OMG Danny looks sooooooo cute in a Christmas hat! (sorry, die-hard fangirl here!) It was an awesome ep! Plus the entire thing rhymed! Praise to the writers, they're incredible! I also found the Ghostwriter's fear of Oranges funny, and so does my sister! Great eppy and can't wait for more!
  • Ghostwriter, a ghost who speaks in rhymes, makes it so Danny's Christmas is one big holiday nightmare.

    9.2
    "Superb"
Perfect for a holiday show, this episode was greatly special and original. Ghost writer was a great character and the rhyming worked well, unlike other show's attempts to make a creative rhyming plot. All the ghosts have a special Christmas tradition of truce, meaning that once a year, on December 25th, they stop violence to celebrate the holidays together. Ghost Writer was the first to break the truce, which untimantly ended in him being thrown into Walker's prison. It's especially great becasue, no matter how much of a "bad guy" Danny seems to think Ghost Writer is, it turns out that all he wanted to do was teach Danny Fenton a good Christmas sprit lesson.
  • When Danny destroys Ghost Writer's Christmas poem, he finds himself starring in his own Christmas poem.

    9.0
    "Superb"
I didn't care too much for this episode. It was awesome to see Danny use his ghostly wail again and destroy all those Christmas trees and to see Jack try to fit through the chimney to prove to her that a fat man can in fact fit through a chimney. The part I didn't care for was when Danny found himself in the midst of all his enemies having a Christmas party. In my opinion, that Christmas Treaty that all ghosts have to follow is ridiculous. It was very interesting to see all his enemies working together, but it was still creepy.
  • Darker than the usual Danny Phantom episode, and its quite refreshing. Not Ultimate Enemy standards, but the show needs more eps like this.

This episode finds a desperate Vlad Masters scanning his computer for Danny\'s DNA for his latest project. This scene reveals that Vlad sent Valerie after Danny in the first place, for his DNA sample to create a clone of him. Vlad realizes that Valerie has failed to live up to his wishes, and finds a new way to accomplish his goal. He sends his failed clones after Danny to steal a piece of his DNA to create the\"perfect half-ghost son\". Meanwhile,Sam and Tucker are rather bitter at Danny for becoming inconsiderate to their feelings. They(much to my chargin)remain bitter througout the whole episode(more like babyish, which is one of the few points I hate about this ep). After this,Danny finds a strange 12 year old girl in his room, and she claims to be his long lost cousin. She has every personality trait of Danny, even his dream as an astronaut, and hatred for Dash Baxter. After Danny is outside with her,he\'s beaten by a hulk-like clone of himself. Suddenly an ecto blast is shot from behind. Its Danny\'s cousin\"Dani\". She\'s apparently half-ghost too,and she just saved him. Danny is grateful, but still questions her. While trying to explain what happened(another low point)to Sam and Tucker, they give him a blank stare after being forced to clean up after his messes. When Vlad shows up outside,he\'s not playing anymore games after him beating Valerie, and his 3 clones. After beating him to a pulp,Dani shoots Danny from behind. Dani is in cahoots with Vlad. While Sam and Tucker get The Specter speeder to go after Vlad and Danny.Vlad reveals his plan to Danny about his plan to clone him. Youll have to see the climax, because im too tired to write anything else, folks. This episode gives good character development to Vlad, who sees himself as bitter and lonely than a villain. Its also darker than usual, and has a more comic book feel to it. Bottom line, its not the best episode ever made from the show, but its also not a random filler episode too. See it,youll eventually have to.
  • Another ghost on Christmas. I love it.

    9.6
    "Superb"
Danny is once again faced with another ghost except this one decides to put Danny in his book of Christmas Frights. He makes Danny the lead character who is out to spoil Christmas and the only way it will end is if he learns his lesson. I love this kinda drama cause honestly not until the very end did I know wut lesson he had to learn. This is an episode of caring and giving and I thought it really cool when all of Dany's enemies band together to help the town. I actually cannot believe that for one day of the year no ghost will fight. Ghosts not fighting lol what has this world come to lol. this was an awesome episode.
  • the perfect holiday episode

i luved this epi not just because it's holiday-themed, but because Danny actually part-narrates it. also, it has some very funny parts in it. i can't wait for it to go on again on TV. i luved it the first time, and i'll luv it again! DP is the best show ever and it cannot---i reapeat: CANNOT---cancelled! we also get to see what Danny looked like as a baby and as a toddler. he's SO cute! my fave part of the epi is at the end when Danny is still talking in rhyme even though he can talk normal again. it's hilarious.

Danny hates Christmas! He can't syand all the laughing and cheering so he goes to the ghost zone where he thinks there will be no christmasy stuff up but he was wrong! He starts destroying all of his christmas decorations but he accidently destroyed a ghost's christmas book he figures out that that ghost wants to destroy him the ghost's name is The Ghost Writer and antthing he writes happens in real life!He makes a toy army and destroys Ammity ville. As if that's not bad enough he makes killer christmas trees on he loose! In the end everything is back to normal!
  • This coulda been better if the plot was altered a little bit

If Danny didn't destroy the book, instead the Ghostwriter saw Danny throwing a tantrum in the ghost zone, he instead tried to talk to him and offered him a part in his book, Danny would refuse but the Ghostwriter insisted. And he wouldn't put Danny through all this just to turn the whole town against him again, but to merley make him save christmas from a different threat
  • not my favorite.

danny hates christmas because his family always "distroyed" each christmas. while traviling through the ghost zone to distroy some christmas toys (to get his anger out) he accendlty blows up the ghostwriters new book. firouis ghostwriter traps danny into one of his books where ghostwriter writes the story and danny can break free of the spell intill he realized the true meaning of christmas. i admit that the constant rhyming got me confused at times (and after watching it i couldnt stop rhyming for about an hour). this episode sorta remines me of the grinch who stole christmas because he two hates christmas but eventually realized the true meaning of christmas.
  • Another stunningly written piece of work.

When it first started i was a bit unsure where it was leading to , but i soon found out. In this eppisode we find out things of which we didn\'t know previously . But the most amazing thing that almost made me jump for joy was the rhymming , i mean it must have taken a while to write because not only did it have to rhyme , it had to make sense.

But no fear it was all sorted out and the eppisode was a treat.

    Another stunning work of art.
  • An enjoyable episode for Christmas-time!

    8.9
    "Great"
I thought this was yet another one of the best Danny Phantom episodes. It was very interesting, and I especially liked how the whole thing was written in rhyme. The Ghsot Writer was an excellent villain. Not one of my favorites, but he was still good.

"Danny Fenton hates Christmas. He hates it a lot. And that's why I've inserted the boy in this plot."- Ghost Writer

"Hey, that voice! It's that ghost whose book I destroyed! Wait... I'm trapped in his poem? Now I'm REALLY annoyed!"- Danny

Poor Danny, though. How he got trapped in by force, and no one else knew or could tell that they were talking in rhyme, or hear the Ghost Writer. And I especially liked the end, once Danny started telling the story. It was really sad. It made me want to cry (I didn't ^_^). And I loved how all his enemies helped him at the end, too. That was also sad.

Futhermore, this was an excellent holiday special, just like Fright Night, the Halloween special. Maybe there will be another special... Valentine's Day would be nice. ^_^
  • Danny is not happy about Christmas since his parents annually fight about the presence of Santa, and he hates it. He destroys Ghostwriter's Christmas story so he punishes danny by making his life the story, and he makes it horrible for Danny.

    10
    "Perfect"
It must have been hard to come up with rhymes for a whole episode. It was nice to have it since it was a christmas special. I liked this ep. Better than the Holloween special. I wanted someone to hurt that ghostwriter for messing up Danny's life. What was with the crowd? Danny destroyed monsters to save them, but they hated him because the presents were destroyed. They cared more about presents than their lives and their town? Whatever. Anyways, I saw more Bragonball type stuff. That energy ball Danny used to destry the nutcracker monster was similar to a spirit bomb. It was cool. It was a nice turn of events for all of Danny's enemies to help him.
  • A ghost named the Ghost Writer uses his keyboard to make everyone in Amity Park speak in rhyme after Danny destroys his Christmas poem.

    9.2
    "Superb"
Danny hates Christmas because of his parents’ constant arguing over Santa Claus’s existence. Out of anger, he accidentally destroys the only copy of a Christmas poem written by a ghost named the Ghost Writer. Furious, the writer uses his quantum keyboard to change Danny’s world so that everybody speaks in rhyme, making it his new poem. He also causes much Christmas-related mayhem in Amity Park, leaving Danny to take the blame. Wanting to stop this himself, Danny journeys into the Ghost Zone to confront the writer.

When I saw this the first time, I wasn’t entirely impressed by it; I had just come off a less than perfect day, not to mention that it was a completely new thing, watching a new DP episode on a Tuesday night. But now I’ve realized that TFBC was a very good episode.

The opening gave us some surprises and answered a question or two that were left out prior to this. I didn’t expect Sam to be Jewish, nor that she acts so cheerful as the days get shorter. But that wasn’t OOC; she’s Goth, but she doesn’t have to act so sour the whole year, and that was an enjoyable surprise. Tucker’s mistletoe beret was very funny, very good for a laugh.

For a while, I wondered what could possibly make Danny despise Christmas. The reason why wasn’t that understandable to start with, even though it made sense, but it made more as the episode progressed. It’s fine to be upset for him if his parents argue over Santa’s existence every year; it’s bound to get really irritating after a while.

The Ghost Writer was a very interesting villain; he seemed to have a somewhat British attitude, and I wouldn’t call him evil exactly, perhaps selfish and vengeful. And I wish I had that keyboard of his, so the fanfics I write for DP come true on the show. :) And I found his gag with the orange very funny, although from watching Drake and Josh, he could’ve used “door hinge” to rhyme it with that.

When I knew that the people would be speaking in rhyme here, I was a little iffy. Things like that could be done horribly clichéd, over-peppy, and OTT. But this was not the case. Although there was rhyme, there was not a real change in the characters’ personality, and if there was, it was all the Ghost Writer’s fault.

I was at first concerned with Jazz’s, Sam’s, and Tucker’s behavior here, but then I remembered that the Ghost Writer had complete control over them so that was fine with me.

I wholeheartedly enjoyed seeing Danny’s foes back again, although I was hoping we would see Vlad; I wonder if he follows the ghost holiday truce as well. I always like seeing enemies setting aside differences and working together, and here was no exception.

The animation was gorgeous, and there was killer music to boot. It seems like ever since they brought in Kevin Petrilak to direct the episodes in Doctor’s Disorders, it’s gotten a heck of a lot better. The holiday style music was fabulous, as well as the melody when the toys were merging together. The fights were done well as well, especially the one with the trees. And I LOVED that he used the ghostly wail again; I wondered if they would bring that out for a while after TUE.

The moral of this was very good. It was actually something I hadn’t heard before, and in the case of a Christmas special, that is very hard to do. It’s one of the reasons why I love this series so much, the way it can take a plot that’s been done over and over, and put in a series of twists that make it original. But I wish that after Danny handed the gifts to his family, he would continue that kindness to his friends. Instead, he ponders over what he did wrong and says to do better next year.

There is not a lot I can point out that is negative, but I didn’t like the gross humor in the flashback with the dog. And WHY couldn’t there have been a D/S mistletoe moment? I SO wished for that. :( And I didn’t overall like it when Jazz said, “Such a dork,” when Danny spoke in rhyme at the end. It seemed a bit OOC.

But overall, a very nice episode. It’s the seventh best yet and it gets 9.2/10.
  • It is the Christmas special.

Danny hates Christmas and the holiday season. Why? Danny’s parents fight every year about weather Santa Clause exits or not. Danny is tired of it and goes to the ghost Zone to let his anger out. While there he by accidentally destroyed a Christmas book. He couldn’t care less. The writer gets mad and makes a new story wit Danny as the main character. The whole book rhymes. During the story the Ghost Writer makes it look like Danny is the bad guy by ruining the holidays when really it is him doing it then framing Danny. Dannys foes help him fight the Ghost Writer. The Ghost Writers keyboard gets destroyed by Danny and so the Ghost Writer makes Danny finish the story. Meanwhile the town is all against Danny thinking he is the one who did all that stuff. Can Danny finish the story and make the town think he is good? Even his friends? Sam allways having to be diffrent is Jewish.
  • Seeing them talk in rhyme was an entertaining feature!!

    9.7
    "Superb"
I like the villain of this episode, Ghost Writer. And I like the plot. And the fact that the characters were trapped speaking in rhyming verses. What could be wrong with it, really? It was a wonderful holiday feature, and it kept me well occupied.

It can never be my favorite episode, but it definitely can be ranked pretty highly. And I have to say, the ending was pretty funny to me.

The fact that Danny doesn't care for Christmas came as a surprise to me, however. I guess he has a good reason to, though. Still, I couldn't believe Sam and Tucker lost faith in him so easily. Oh, well. That's what helped with the plot.

this was an amazing xmas special I loved it I can really relate to danny caus in the past I hated christmas there wasnt any cheer but now I love it caus I like to be with my family the ghost writer has became one of my fave character In hope he appears again he was so cool and I loved his powers and im going to get killed for saying this but I found him to be kinda hot but anyways this is a very good episode with a ton of rythming or perhaps a bit to much but who cares its still awesome
  • Wow...who honestly hates the holidays?

    10
    "Perfect"
Well...apparently Danny does. And with a burning passion. Interestingly enough, we also figure out that Sam is Jewish in this episode. But when Danny inadvertantly 'ruins' Christmas, it seems so easy to place the blame on him. But you really see the good side of ghost as they chip in to make Danny's holiday a good one. I bet Danny likes the holidays now!
  • A decent episode if you like rhymes.

Danny Fenton dislikes Christmas because his parents don't spend time with him. They are too busy fighting over Santa's existance. Danny goes to the ghost zone to let out his anger by destroying Christmas items. He ly destroys a Christmas poem. He is very happy about this but the author is not. The author is the Ghost Writer. Every word he types on his keyboard becomes real. He puts Danny in his poem to teach him a lesson. The Ghost Writer makes Danny dislike Christmas even more when he causes everyone in Amity Park to think Danny stole their presents. Danny has to figure out how to escape the poem but can he with the Ghost Writer in control?
  • I think this episode really told us more about the characters.

This episode was great. I learned alot about all the characters. Like Danny hates christmas. Sam is Jewish, and she loves that time of year. I thought it was the best holiday episode of any other tv series. And I look forward to seeing it next year. This is my third favorite episode.
  • Wow, better than I expected.

    9.2

The Ghost Writer is doing all the things and putting the blame on Danny in the book he wrote. Near the end, Danny manages to stop the Ghost Writer from typing with an orange since nothing rhyms with orange. At the end when Walker offered him an orange, he said, "Get that thing away from from me!" That was really funny. The end of the book when Danny says "We're not talking in rhyme. We're not talking in rhyme!" was the funniest part in the episode. I didn't think it would be this good from the commercial that they shown.
  • Danny accidently destroys Ghost Writer's only copy of The Fright Before Christmas and is forced to be in Ghost Writer's new poem, The Fright Before Christmas 2, where Danny must learn a valuble lesson about the holidays

    10
    "Perfect"
Nobody notices this, but this episode is definitely something that a family would watch. It shows the true meaning of Christmas... uh, I forgot what it was. But, finally, a cartoon Christmas special without there being Santa being turned into a vampire, or him being expected. -coughgrimadventuresofbillyandmandyandspongebobcough (wow that was a long cough! lol)- It's something you'd have to get a greedy person to watch. Anyway, it's beautifully plotted, and it's something I'd love to watch over and over, holiday after holiday, year after year. I wish the whole world can see this episode... oh, wait, never mind about that.

EDIT 12/23/05: And what are you people talking about, Danny/Sam romance?!? The writers just wanted to show what the holidays were about!! Do you think ROMANCE is what Christmas is TRULY about?!?
  • A very special installment for the holiday

Danny Fenton hates Christmas because of his parents. They never agree with either santa exists or not. So flashing forward we see Danny grinching and Sam happyily jumping about. I was interestingly shocked when the ghosts had a truce that made them not fight in the end. Such a touching episode, without the poetry is all it needed to not have.
