    • "Ill" (#209) showed Lawndale's hospital, whose name looked a lot like Cedars of Lawndale. Unfortunately, the sign was too blurry to be conclusive. Daria confirms the name in this episode.
    • This episode proves conclusively that Joey, Jeffy and Jamie are on the football team, as evidenced by their scene with Kevin whey they appear in their football uniforms. This had been mentioned in "The Invitation" (#102), but hadn't been referred to again until this episode.
    • In the flashback scene, the young Sandi is shown to be wearing the same outfit she wore in season one (and in The Daria Diaries).
    • The entire Fashion Club is now in the same English class, whereas in "Quinn the Brain" (#203), only Quinn and Stacy were in the same class.

    • Jackson Pollock Jackson Pollock was a painter who blazed the trail for Abstract Expressionism in the United States. He was occasionally called "Jack the Dripper" for his style of painting, which involved pouring or splashing the paint on the canvas rather than using brushes. He was killed in a car crash, hence Jane's tribute involving car parts.
    • Muriel and Ernest Hemingway Actress Muriel Hemingway is the granddaughter of author Ernest Hemingway (The Old Man and the Sea), hence Stacy's confusion.
    • Jodie: Nuttin', honey. Jodie's "nuttin', honey" comment is a reference to the old commercials for Kellogg's Nut & Honey cereal, which used the same tag line.
    • Close Encounters of the Third Kind Jake making a house out of his mashed potatoes is a reference to the 1979 movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind, directed by Steven Spielberg.
    • Carrie The principal advises the students don't rig a bucket of pig's blood to the rafters. This is a reference to when the anti-socialite Carrie gets a bucket of pig's blood dropped on her head at the prom. Carrie is the main character of Stephen King's first published novel, Carrie.
