I think we should have a thread for the books, where we can discuss them.

For you who haven't heard of the 4 books:

    http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/s/d-a-stern/dark-angel-eyes-only-dossier.htmWritten by "Logan Cale/Eyes Only".

    And then threre's the series:
    Before the Dawn - http://www.maxallancollins.com/books/dark-angel-before-the-dawn/index.php
    Skin Game - http://www.maxallancollins.com/books/dark-angel-skin-game/index.php
    After the Dark- http://www.maxallancollins.com/books/dark-angel-after-the-dark/index.php

I'm going to buy them today and I would love to discuss them with you.

How different are the books from the show??
Did the books just pick up from where the show ended?

I'm not sure, but I heard the books basically finish off the story from the series. I could be wrong though.

The books are awesome! I've got them all and read them all. The Eyes Only one isn't much of a book more like a dossier but the three Max Allan Collins ones are sooooo good. He has done his best to stick with the true storyline but not perfectly.

The first book is set before the 1st season and the other two are after the 2nd season Im sure (Its been a while since I read them!). All very good indeed!! I loved the last one especially "After The Dark" because it finishes off so nicely, although we could never complain if another one happened to come out!!

Well worth a read anyway guys, dig in!

If you finish the second season of Dark Angel and you want to know what happens with Max and Terminal city and the breeding cult, reading the books gives you all the answers. I havnt completely read the last book but i am close and it has answered most of my questions bout the series so i was happy that i read teh books so i could get the answers and see what happens. The author did a good job continuing the series and giving it a conclusion, or concluding events. If you havnt read the books, I suggest you do.

I've read Skin Game and After the Dark. I found Skin Game really interesting and it started where the series finished. However, I didn't find After the Dark too interesting, just the Max and Logan storyline. I know the book was basically about Max and Logan but I wanted to read what happened at the end like, so i skipped loads, it just wasn't that interesting for me.

I still wanna read the other though.

Before the Dawn is the prequel to the tv series. Skin Game is set right after the series and After The Dark is set after Skin Game.

Is Alec in one of the books? That would be my only reason to read it.

Alec is in both Skin Game and After The Dark. He plays a major role in both, especially the latter. I haven't read Before The Dawn but since its set pre-Season 1, I doubt Alec is in it. I've read the other 2 though and they are really good so definitely worth the read. Plus, its really good to get some closure on the storylines after being pretty much left hanging at the end of Freak Nation.

Are Skin Game & After the Dark the same as virtual dark angel season 3 & 4?

    ************ SPOILERS ALERT *****************************

    *******************************************************

The 2 last books are waste of time and money.

the writer has basically created 2 stories and conveniently added conclusion to 3 things we already knew =

    .

skin game: the truth about that agent white was behind the media war and

end with a truce between ordinaries and transgenics

After the Dark: truth about the familiars agenda and why max is so important and

max no longer carries the virus.

    .

It's so obvious that the writer didn't know what the original writers had in mind and

was only taking advantage of the dark angel fans so he can earn some money.

I highly recommend not to read or buy these books

no way are these books not worth reading, if you are are dark angel fan. I admit that you'll love them a ton more if you ship Logan/Max though. SPOILER!!!! They get their happy ending and a lot of the book, especially After the Dawn is focused on that. But it follows the show very faithfully, gives readers what they want, explanations, a proper ending, more insight into the characters and the writing really does an amazing job or transforming the characters from on screen to book. Alec and Joshua and OC and the rest of the gang are all still involved, there is still mysteries and everything to be solved. its a great read for anyone into Dark Angel.I totally recommend it, especially to Max/Logan fans.

    In response to Th3Imh0t3p:

I agree, the author did not know the intentions of the original writers. This is especially apparent in the 3rd book (After the Dark). The solution to the breeding cult storyline is just not coherent and in line with season 2. What happened to Sandeman and why did Renfro take a bullet for Max? Renfro was obviously not part of the breeding cult and still she believed Max was important. What organization did she belong to? The book is in a way a conclusion to the story, but it is not the storyline we would have seen if the show had not been cancelled.
