Dark Shadows

Season 4 Episode 8

Aired Weekdays 3:00 PM Jan 10, 1969 on ABC

  • Trivia

    • At the end of the episode, Nathan raises the mallet to hammer the stake into Barnabas's heart, but he shouldn't have the power to do that if he is Barnabas's slave. (remembers when Maggie Evans tried to stake Barnabas, and Willie had to stop her even though his hatred for Barnabas was greater than any other)

  • Quotes

    • Barnabas: You mustn't linger. The sooner you're gone, the safer you'll be.
Victoria: I just wanted a moment to say goodbye to you. I just wanted to say one thing. No matter what happens, no matter where we go, I'll always feel close to you. No matter where we are, I'll always feel that you're somewhere nearby.
      Barnabas: Goodbye, Vicki.
      Victoria: Goodbye, Barnabas.

    • Ben: Dusk at Collinwood, and Barnabas Collins soon will rise. But he will find himself in the Collinwood of 1796. For he has been drawn backward into time to save Victoria Winters from hanging. He has seemingly failed in that task. For at midnight on the previous night she was hanged and pronounced dead. Everyone at Collinwood is mourning her death. All but one, the witch who caused that death, and who even now controls her from beyond the grave.

  • Notes

    • In the orignal 1795 storyline, Natalie did know that Barnabas was a vampire and tried to help him. But the writers decided to change things and make it so that Natalie just discovers Barnabas's secret, and wants to destroy him instead. This isn't the first time the writers have changed things on the show, and it won't be the last.

    • This is the last episode featuring Victoria Winters. After leaving the series, we never did learn what her real identity is, which has been in question since Episode 1!
