I like every story except the Adam and Eve, the Dream Curse, and the 1841 storylines. Those are the worst stories in this show.

I guess I fall into the very small group of fans that like the Leviathan storyline.

at first I agreed with you, but then i thought, wait a minute! the absolute best story line had to be the resurrection of Barnabas, so that is my favorite. A close second would be the mystery of Sarah Collins. Least favorite would have to be Count Petofi, although I absolutely love Thayer David's voice

Good thinking! The resurrection of Barnabas is what made the show take off! The mystery of Sarah Collins was great, too, but I would sort of bulk everything on the 1795 storyline because I got a kick out of watching who became what and how. Petofi sucked, but I agree with you on Thayer David's voice - awesome!

I didn't like anything that had to do with Sarah Collins. The actress was just horrible. Count Petofi was a pretty weak concept idea, but it was executed amazingly. Thayer David was excellent and very underrated.

The first period story which took place in 1795 was my favorite of all the great things the writers, cast and crew did over the show's run. It was the first "time travel" story and it was handled expertly. Having the same cast play the roles of earlier family and friends made the story work. Everybody except Alexandra Moltke played a different character. Even the great Jonathan Frid, though he played "Barnabas," played a different part because the Barnabas of this period was completely different character than we had known him because his circumstances were different. I believe Frid's sensitive portrayal of the character at this point in the show contributed in great part to the character's remaining though Barnabas originally had been intended to be a temporary role. Anything with Michael Stroka is a no-go with me. Especially the storyline with Aristede. My favorite is the one where Barnabas and Julia have to go 1971 to find out what happened to Quentin to make him crazy. Also, I like the last storyline with the parallel time.

The Leviathans were a supposed to be a kind pre-human people who lost their sway over the world to humans. They continued to try regain their supremacy. They were introduced as a means of returning Barnabas from the past (1897 via 1795) to the present day (1969). Jebbez ("Jeb") Hawkes, who eventually married Carolyn Stoddard was the embodiment of the life essense of these people. He later rejected the Leviathan mission and became human.

I remember this story line from the first run of the show. I started watching the show several months before this storyline, during the events that took place in 1897. The "Leviathan" story line did have its moments (eg the character of Paul Stoddard comes to mind for viewers of the earlier story lines). Jeb Hawkes was the first character to be played by Chirstopher Pennock, who later played Cyrus Longworth (1970 Parallel Time), Sebastian Shaw (1970), and Gabriel Collins (1840), and other roles based on Gabriel Collins.

the leviathans was kinda boring to me. just the whole storyline with it, was strange, but i guess thats how it was supposed to be.
