If you figure in repeats, Dastardly & Muttley had a two-year run, going from Sept. 13, 1969 to Sept. 4, 1971.
That was pretty much the turnover rate for such shows on Saturday morning at the time. Ratings usually figure into it, and the ratings were passable but not spectacular for Dastardly & Muttley, although the title stars would see their longest stint in Yogi's Treasure Hunt in the mis 80s. Very few cartoons shows get greenlit for new episodes and ensuing seasons, and the short list would entail the Archie, Scooby Doo, Pink Panther, Fat Albert, Smurfs and Alvin & The Chipmunks shows. And that's usually based on ratings. In the 1969-70 season, Dastardly & Muttley went up against The Pink Panther on NBC, and the Panther drew the better audience.
