Dave Chappelle: Killin' Them Softly

Show Summary

Dave Chappelle: Killin' Them Softly is the first HBO stand-up special from celebrated comedian Dave Chappelle, released in 2000 to tremendous critical and commercial acclaim for Chappelle's candid and unique perspective on modern race relations, human sexuality, American politics, and more. Dave Chappelle first came to the public's attention in 1998, when he wrote and starred in the comedy Half Baked, a film that failed at the box office but quickly developed a cult following. After appearing in several smaller roles over the next two years, Chappelle finally released this special which immediately earned him a devoted fan base and exposed his lauded brand of comedy to a wide audience. This special was filmed in Washington, DC and includes many of Chappelle's most famous jokes from his early years as a performer, before he went on to create and star in the hugely successful Comedy Central series Chappelle's Show.
