Grammar school principal Dwight Davis has disciplinary problems around the clock in this light comedy. As if the kids in school weren't enough, he's a single dad with three boys. The biggest kid of all, however, is Dwight's eccentric father, who lives with them and regularly dispenses outlandish advice.

Dwight Davis, a widower, has the task of raising his three sons, along with the help of his father Gunny. After the series was cancelled by ABC, CBS picked up the series and made some changes. The oldest son and his friend were written off (they became foreign exchange students) and Dwight's sister moved in. Dwight also became the guardian to the son (Skinner) of his old college friends. It was explained Skinner's parents were archaeologists located in Latin America.

The show featured a multitude of talented actors, including acclaimed character actor Randy Quaid, the legendary Jonathan Winters, a young Bonnie Hunt, and an even younger Vonnie Ribisi.

The show was nominated for 2 Emmy awards--one for lighting. And, Jonathan Winters won in 1991 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.''

The show was produced by the Carsey-Werner Company.moreless
