I only remember "I Don't Want to Wait" as the theme song the entire run of the series expect when Dawson's Dad died they didn't have one in the original airing and when Joey is mugged I think they used a Carpenters song. The original theme song was to be Alanis Morisette's "Hand in My Pocket"

I don't really like the other theme song. I Don't Wanna Wait is an awesome song and goes with it so well. Besides, it's what I'm used to and I just got the s4 box set & I can't get used to it.

i do like too! When i taped it from the tv i always fast forwarded the theme song, but now that i have the box sets with the new theme song i always listen to it. I never skip it.

i have grown to love it, but still can't beat IDWW.
The theme song is not COMPLETLY out of place, it was the theme song for the 1st season for the International viewings, so it is not totally out of nowhere.
but i still wish that season 6 could have had the original theme song/music.

For "The Long Goodbye", the episode with Mitch's funeral, a special arrangement of "I Don't Want to Wait" was written and used. (except on the dvd)

To me the real theme song for this show is Run Like Mad as I heard it from seasons 3-6. It was the one originally created for the show as this isn't an actual full song. I like the other one as well that was used during the TV arirings in North America, but I think they should have went with Run Like Mad for all seasons in all areas. I also never skip Run Like Mad as it's such a good song. I actually had it as my phone ring tone for a while.

Did they use the season 3-6 theme over seas for ALL 6 seasons or was it just on tap for in case they couldn't use season 1/2's "I don't wanna wait" theme?

Well, over here in the UK, during TV airings, "IDWTW" is used for all seasons (except Season 1). But, on the international DVDs, "IDWTW" is only used for Seasons 1 & 2 and the other theme tune is used for 3-6.

The show was aired with "I Don't Wanna Wait." "Run Like Mad" is only on the DVD's.
That is actually not correct. The 2nd song was the original theme song for the show outside the US. I was not suprised that it showed up on the DVD sets but was that they continued to used it. I perfer the US theme song.
