Goof: When Jen bangs on the window of the of the coffee shop, it is noticeable that it isn't made of glass but some sort of flexible material that flexes and moves too much.
Joey: When we weren't having sex. And everything and every moment wasn't about sex.
Pacey: I don't know if that time ever really existed.
Joey: I guess you're right. Before, when we hadn't had sex, everything was about sex. Now that we've have had sex…
Pacey: Everything is still about sex. Do you think we're doing something wrong?
Joey: No. Do you?
Pacey: No.
Gretchen: Just promise me something.
Dawson: Anything.
Gretchen: That you'll always be as honest with me as you were last night. Cause that's the hardest part about having a relationship. It's so much harder than sex. And trusting someone is like this gigantic act of faith. You put it out there and you can never really be sure if you're gonna get it back. Sex... sex is just mechanical.
Jen: Trust. Is that the question?
Tom: What's the answer?
Jen: Yeah. Yes. I can trust you.
Dawson: I want to apologize.
Joey: For what?
Dawson: For that question I asked you a couple weeks ago. That very personal question. I should have never asked you. I don't know why I did. It was some masochistic side of me that I haven't explored yet. Probably the same side of me that's sabotaging my relationship with Gretchen.
Joey: You think you're sabotaging your relationship?
Dawson: Well, mentioning you every 30 seconds, I'm sure it doesn't help.
Joey: There's a lot we don't know about each other. It's not how it used to be. We used to be able to tell each other everything.
Dawson: Yeah. I'm not sure that was such a good thing.
Joey: Not a very Dawson Leery like thing to say.
Gretchen: Joey lied to Dawson. I don't know why, I don't know what it meant. But he asked her flat out whether you guys were sleeping together and she lied. And that's the truth, Pacey.
Gretchen: You lied to Dawson about you and Pacey having sex.
Joey: I made a decision, a very private decision about my life and I really don't want the whole world to know about that.
Gretchen: You really don't want Dawson to know about that.
Joey: It's the same thing.
Gretchen: No it's not, Joey. I don't want to be an ogre here, but lying to Dawson isn't going to solve anything. It's not fair to him and it's not fair to somebody who's trying to have a relationship with him.
Joey: Meaning you.
Drue: Oh, please... this whole friend dance you guys do. As if you were actually over each other. As if you haven't fatally wounded each other's psyches and doomed all your future relationships. I mean, I'm sorry this is great stuff. It's what makes you and Joey, far and away the more compelling couple.
Drue: You want me to unfix the election so that Joey and Pacey win as Class Couple? Sorry. Can't do that. It's too boring. Where's the conflict? Where's the drama?
Dawson: There isn't supposed to be any drama.
Drue: See? It's thinking like that that keeps high school yearbooks mired in mediocrity.
Jack: Well, it's fairly common for people to develop a thing for their shrinks.
Jen: Well, that's not what's happening here.
Dawson: Part of me was still clinging to the insane notion that Joey and I were destined to lose our virginity together.
Gretchen: Well, I guess it's not all that insane. She was your first serious girlfriend.
Dawson: Yeah, but now I kinda wish they just did it on the boat. You know, or they'd do it now and get it over with. Just put the final nail in the coffin of Dawson and Joey.
Gretchen: How do you know they haven't?
Dawson: She told me.
Joey: (Pulling Gretchen apart) Umm… I know that Pacey told you… that you know. And I was just hoping that you could…
Gretchen: ... I could keep my big fat mouth shut? Don't look so serious Joey. Who am I going to tell?
Joey: Well, it's just that certain people have no need to know this information because it would only hurt them and bring back painful memories. And that's not what I want this to be about.
Gretchen: You guys are just friends.
Joey: Yeah, we're just not the type of friends who tell each other everything the second it happens. And if he were to hear something like that, something about me, I'd want it to be from me.
(Talking about their new sex life)
Pacey: Gretchen? Yeah. She knows, but it wasn't me who told her. She figured out for herself. Are you mad?
Joey: (Pretending) No, I'm not mad. I'm just a little embarrassed, but it'll pass.
Pacey: You know, I don't think I like this turn that our relationship is taking here. You have no respect for my feelings, we never talk anymore.
(Joey keeps kissing him. He groans)
Joey: Pace, we spent 9 months talking. We've been doing this for two weeks.
(She goes back to kissing)
Pacey: But this still doesn't mean you get to treat me like a sex object.
Joey: Oh, I can tell you're all broke up about it.
Meredith Monroe (Andrea "Andie" McPhee) doesn't appear in this episode, although she is featured in the opening credits.
Music featured in the episode included:
