Episode Summary

EDIT
At Dawson's first day at his new film school he meets a guy named Oliver, who shows him around. Oliver wastes no time asking Dawson to direct a movie he wrote. Reluctant to direct someone else's work, Dawson starts giving notes to Oliver on the script and ends up accepting the job, thanks to Jen's incentive. Jen is having some problems of her own and her current state of happiness from the relationship with Dawson is reflecting on her on-air performance. She decides to go back to the sharp-tongued, edgy advice she used to give instead of the romantic, love-themed ones. Meanwhile, Elliott finally has the courage to ask Joey out, but Joey makes plans for a get together with Professor Wilder. Joey makes a fake excuse not to go out with Elliott, and her evening takes an unexpected turn when she and Professor Wilder kiss. Elsewhere, Jack is reprehended by his brothers for being on academic probation. Irritated, he goes out and has a few too many drinks, which results in a fight with his fraternity brothers.moreless

Finally, this season is finally getting started with some drama. I mean besides Mitch's death. Anyways, Dawson goes back to school in this episode. He meets Oliver who was at that film festival. Oliver wants him to direct his film. Oliver was funny in the last episode he was in, but in this episode he was a little rude. But I guess he's kind of an anti social, and it's seems like he has a man crush on Dawson. I am glad that Dawson and Oliver worked things out. It's going to be nice seeing Dawson happy again, and filming. Jen has lost her edge at the radio station. She's giving bad advice, and if she doesn't change she could lose her job. I found her to be very funny in this episode, and I do love that Dawson and Oliver ignoring her at dinner, made her get her edge back. Elliot asks Joey out on a date and Joey says yes. Joey's English Lit professor asks Joey to go to a group dinner the same night and Joey says yes. She decides t blow off Elliot and fake sick, and go out with her professor. I really wish Joey didn't do that because I like Elliot. I can't believe Joey kissed her professor. I love how everything goes awkward after that. Jack is on academic probation. I am actually glad that the frat is on his back about his grades. He seems that Jack has a stereotype of what a Frat should be like, and as soon as it's not a stereotype he gets mad about it. I don't like him drunk. I love the fight he had. I hope he realizes that he's changed as a person and moves out of the frat.moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • In the beginning of the episode, when Jen gives Dawson his "back to school' gifts for Film School, she eventually turns her back to the camera as she slides across the front of the kitchen counter in her pajamas. Right at this point, we can see a real tattoo on the lower back of Michelle Williams.

This same tattoo was air-brushed out from 4x22 episdoe The Graduate. Tthere is a scene where Jen is wearing pajamas and helping Drue Valentine through her bedroom window, her back to the camera. At this point her lower back tattoo was showing, and the Executive Producer mentioned that they had to airbrush it out as they felt it wasn't appropriate for the character.

    • Goof: In the scene where Joey is recapping to Audrey the events surrounding the kiss in their dorm room, Joey's hair goes from behind her shoulders to in front of her shoulders, and then back to behind her shoulders as the camera goes from her to Audrey, and back to her.

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Oliver: You were afraid that the upswing of throwing yourself into a new project would inevitable produce a downswing when you finished it right? And hey man, you're probably tired of feeling down, plus the guilt that comes with doing something that might make you feel good when you're supposed to be dealing with this huge thing. You know what Dawson? I can't guarantee you that none of those things will happen, but if you kinda coast through life not feeling anything good, just so you don't have to feel anything bad... that's no way to live.

    • Professor Wilder: I don't have a wife.
Joey: You... I remember you told me you had a wife and kid.
Professor Wilder: Did I? I must have been trying to rationalize some bad behavior at the time. I use the wife and kid bit to get me out of things I don't wanna do.
Joey: You're serious? You just lie?
Professor Wilder: No, I don't lie. I, uh, I create characters.

    • Jen: If that's what the people want, if they want me to be nasty and sarcastic, I can do that. I just need something that's gonna take me there. Pacey, say something disgusting.
Pacey: Sure, would you prefer sexist or just downright vulgar? (Jen's cell phone rings)
Jen: Hold that thought. (Answers her phone) Hello. (In a sweet, childish voice) Hello, my little pumpkin.
Pacey: Oh, you are so fired.

    • Jen: If you had a relationship question, wouldn't you rather talk to somebody who was in a healthy, loving relationship?
Pacey: Hell no! I always prefer to get my advice from people who are far more dysfunctional than I am; that way I feel good about my life.

    • Jen: This is Jen Lindley, and I'm here to answer any questions that you may have concerning matters of the heart... or the groin.

    • Audrey: OK, my question of the day is this: Why do guys do anything to get your phone number, but once they have it, never use it properly? I mean, why do they only use it for a booty call? Oh, and footnote: where does the term "booty call" come from? I mean, if "booty" means "sex", why don't people ever say: "let's go have booty"?

    • Joey: It is painfully obvious that the only reason you don't like his book is because you think it's affecting your mojo with the ladies.
Elliott: Well, that shows how little you know me. I have no mojo to speak of.
Joey: I think you have a little.
