Maybe by by being realistic? Maybe by not being a pseudo lost type mystery show? Maybe by having people fight over scarce resources and actually dying as a result of their niceties disappearing one by one. In short, it can be unlike Jericho. For it to be like Jericho would, in my opininion be a very very bad thing. I am GLAD that Jericho was cancelled. The writing was absolutely atrocious.

    That's like saying ..

How is Heroes not the 4400, or how is True Blood not Buffy the Vampire slayer, or how is Journeyman not Quantum Leap.

There are many shows with similar premise, all of which are completely different from their peers. Just look at what happened in 2005 - 3 new scifi series on 3 different channels, all centred on alien invasion, all coming from the water. Threshold, Invasion and Surface - All completely different and unique shows.

I trust the creators of Heroes to make this series extra special. Dont get me wrong, I loved Jericho. But with the brains behind Heroes involved, I expect this to be bigger, bolder and better.

Remember, Jericho was based on a small town. This series will probably take place across the world, on the stage 100 times larger than Jericho ever did.

That was one complaint I had of Jericho. You always wondered what other Countries were doing or how they were viewing the destruction on the United States. Yet you only saw everything from a small town's perspective. Let's hope Day One pushes the bounderies, and gives us this on a Global Catacysmic scale.

    Thanks,

    Steff

I'd say it's probably more like Jeremiah, which was a great show btw!

This has promise to be a good show, and I think aired back to back with Heroes, it could do well, especially if Chuck gets the boot.

Thats why Jericho was so great! You only knew what the people in Jericho knew. No information who or what was still a live on our planet.

I loved Jericho exactly for that. That feeling that we didnt know squat same as the characters in the series. This Day one looks like a Jericho-Lost ripoff, which might not be a bad thing, lets see how it plays out. But if the creators or writers of Heroes are involved I wouldnt get my hopes up since they been dissapointing me since season 2 with a web of messy stories and changes that not most people can keep up with.

You don't know what you are talking about.Jericho was the 1 on of the best scripted series ever, that's why it was canceled by American politicians hehe :-).I'm looking forward for day one but it has nothing to do with Jericho (maybe from a global point of view, aftermath etc...),think about it meteors vs. nuclear inside terrorists attack....

Really? It seems to me a rotten banana would be more intelligent than those guys. Have they done a single thing that hasn't been done before? I think not. This show will just be like Jericho, only with different characters and a different event. The scope of the show is the same. Only now, there's nothing original in it.

I agree, it was the not knowing what was out there that made it intriguing. plus the this cast looks like a bunch of losers compared to jericho. skeet ulrich is underated he was awesome in jericho and miracles. I want this show to tank because if it doesn't it will make jericho look even worse which isn't right. someone told me that jericho didn't have ratings cause most of americans were to scared of seeing what an effect a nuclear bomb would have on their own town so they stayed away.

No, Jerichi was absolutely appalling. In one episode, a boxcar sits exposed to radioactive rain, and yet is swiftly put into the towns supply systems. Radiation magically vanished. In another epiisode putatively Chinese supplies are dropped from the sky, and yet these are quarantined. Why the change in behavior?

    What about decontamination?

What about radiation sickness (it doesn't disappear anywhere near as quickly as the show would have you believe) ?

What about people not being able to get prescription meds for cheonic illnesses?

The premise was intriguing. The actors were good. The writing was terrible.

Same thing for Day One (see Survivors, Jeremiah, The Last Train). Great premise, but if the writing goes against it or is infantile, I don't see it lasting.

If you want to say that, then you could say Jerricho was a rip off of the old BBC show Survivors. Its just a similiar premise.

I couldn't judge by the trailer if they were making it like aliens are taking over, but if so this kind of story must be becoming popular because Noah Wyle and Steven Spielberg are teaming up to do a new series on TNT were Wyle leads a resistance against aliens that have taken over the planet.

I think that it's a little unfair to compare Day One to shows like Lost and Jericho purely based on its trailer.

i thought that jericho was about a nuclear missile attack causing this sort of scenario, where as i thought that day one was about a meteor impact?
